Visited the post office today to accept a certified letter, and to my surprise, it wasn't crowded. The line was short, and I was able to reactivate my PO Box for six months. Customer service was great and the staff were friendly. My only concern is the process: only one person can handle PO Box reactivations, which is challenging for those with full-time jobs especially since that employee doesn't work weekends. It would also be nice to have a post office closer to Cane Bay instead of having to choose between this location, Moncks Corner, or Goose Creek. Overall, service was good, but the process could be smoother. read more

This postal office deserves a zero but since I can't do that I will rate a one star!!! I was away for a few weeks only to return to a notice in my mailbox that my "address is vacant ". I went to the P.O. to inquire what the issue was, waited on the usual 30 to 45 minutes only for them to say the carrier was out on leave and they have to contact the person or persons who are taking their place to see what the issue is. I waited a week, still no mail !! Went back to post office waited again 30-45 minutes then the representative who was very respectful said she would get the supervisor. I waited another 20 minutes for the supervisor and she said an investigation and had no idea where my mail of 4 weeks is !! She said she would call me later that day, no communication so far. This is unacceptable !!! The office is not efficient, unbelievable lines all the time and no accountability for their errors. They constructed a new parking lot to accommodate their customers but never evaluated the backward practices and logistics internally !! Leave it to the Government !!! read more

At first I thought I must have entered a third world country when I pulled up to the parking lot... rather what is left of it during the construction. As I approached the doors and began to enter the building, I immediately saw the line of at least 50-60 people standing in front of me. Sorry kiddos. Never again. Avoid this place like the plague. read more

Came here to pick up mail they refuse to deliver despite clicking the box for redelivery. Came in here, 4 people in front of me, 1 worker. Everyone has issues with packages. Been here for 30 mins and still waiting, the employee goes back and forth. I would not recommend this place at all. read more

I love and adore the Summerville, SC Post Office...said no one, ever. Mailed a check (from Goose Creek) to a business in Summerville on April 22 and they never received it. It was not returned to me. Who knows what happened to it. I mailed a second check to them six days ago. They have not received that one. I called the business and they told me to wait another couple of days, it's normal for it to take seven days to get the mail through. I'm happy the business is VERY understanding. At least seven days to get mail to Summerville from Goose Creek??? Oh boy. read more

Too bad you have no choice but to use them. I had a hold mail they were still taking the mail out to be delivered. If it's on hold, why is it even leaving the building. Then changed my address; they still deliver to old address. I come in to pick up mail and told the deliverer has it every time. This has been going on for 3 weeks. I never know where my mail is! read more

Slow and poorly run. No sense of urgency or even basic customer service skills. I am recently being forced to pick my mail up here because the mailbox is at my new home or still being built. It's a terrible experience every time. Slow rude employees and customers with no other choice. read more

Usps held my package for 2 days, then on the day i went to pick it up from the post office they tried to deliver it to my house. I rescheduled a re delivery for the following day and my package was never delivered. Horrible service. read more

I am so sick of waiting on line at this damn post office. Every time of day, every damn day of the week, there is a huge line. I don't understand these management losers. Hire more people! 70+ cents to mail a letter, Lord knows how much to send a package. Two people behind the counter aren't enough people. And no one answers the phone there. You can just forget that. I'm so sick of it, really. read more

I have not received mail or had my mail picked up as requested 5 times this month. I have emailed and called and all I'm being told is that when my regular mail carrier is off no one picks up or delivers my mail. How can this be?? What kind of system is this. I tried calling 3 different phone numbers on a Friday and no one picks up so I can ask for mail today. Where is the accountability??? read more

No one answers the phone. I have a package that is on hold there that I did not ask to be put on hold. I don't drive any more and I don't have a car, so why would I ask for my package to be held there? I want my package! You SUCK. read more

It will not do no good, but what a useless organization. Our mail consistency in Brighton Park is a mess. You would think that looking at the numbers and puitting residences mail in the correct box was not hard. You would think that a carrier would not leave a crate of outgoing mail outside and forget it would not happen. Well it did and I personally took it the the postmaster for Summerville, all you get is accuses. I stopped my mail on 5-3-2024 and to be restarted after I pit the mail up on 5-13-2024. Well, we got back in town on the 11th check my box, which had a big not don't leave mail it has been stopped. Well, I found 3 pieces of mail in the box, to include mail for another address. I get the being busy, however that has nothing to do with doing whatever you're going to do correctly. The New postmaster their is a joke as well. SMH read more

the workers are nice but overworked. no one answers the phone. there is always a line out the door. prepare to spend atleast 20 minute. I've spent way more time in line than that. Only 2-3 clerks at a time. Usually 2 or 1. They walk away for long periods of time. And you just wait. Someone needs to get them the proper help. read more

USPS - Post Offices Near Me - Summerville, South Carolina

I always put off going to the post office. It's such a chore and usually not the most pleasant thing. I arrived a few minutes prior to their opening time, and saw some folks walking in. I entered and was surprised to see they now have a self service center, complete with a small stock of flat rate mailers and boxes. Unfortunately I needed some other supplies so wasn't able to use that and can't speak to how friendly it is. But Davonne was super helpful. She helped me select the most cost effective shipments and was very pleasant. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. Although a previous reviewer was right, it's an old building and not much to look at, I'll definitely be returning to this location due to great service and ease of getting in and out. read more

They stay busy. You will have to wait in line. It's a older building & it isn't much to look at, but I will say this: their staff is very friendly and helpful. Going to the post office is a chore that no one wants to do, but sometimes you have to. With that being said, the staff makes sure to greet you, answer your questions & are very helpful. I have always had good experiences here. read more

wish I could give no stars this place is horrible... brought in a USPS label had to take it to UPS to print the label and ship item..

I cant Thank the Staff of the Dorechester USPS near Ladson Road, I cant believe that human caring human beings are still out there, with some of the highly publicized ills of this society, God and man proved me wrong, as I fell ill on Friday during buzy time, not 1 but 3 nurses were in line, and all 3 were so great, calling EMT's and they were super, young medical team that came, and to top it off, the staff assisted me in getting home. When was the last time the UPSA delivered an 82 year old sick lady one, helped with getting grociers out of car as Sat is my shop and 1 post office between Fri and Sat. and I go to them all. We are a family of postal employees and loves the usps and the opportunity they offer so many folks, Again Thank you to the staff of Mr. Ryan , 300 N. Gun Street. Charleston SC. Just wish they would hire some additional staff to help those ladies out, they are always but always busy. read more

This post office is the most incompetent excuse for postal service. It is ok to have a few mistakes but to continually be this irresponsible really takes a consorted effort! Why would you leave a package sitting for two weeks when it was supposed to be forwarded and then forward it to a completely random address that had no connection what so ever to the recipient or sender?! I can't help but believe it was intentionally done. Five lost packages now by this office! Unbelievable! Unprofessional to say the least! read more

11:30 am on a Tuesday morning standing in line with about 20 people ahead of me. Waited in line for half an hour and still 15 people ahead of me and about a dozen people behind me and the line isn't moving. It looks like only one attendant at the counter, although he or she isn't there now and I haven't seen anyone working the counter the last 10 minutes. No wonder the line isn't moving!! The parcel bin in the hallway is full, so people are just stacking up there boxes w/ prepaid labels next to it. The bin for these parcels inside the glassed in area is full and stacked up to the ceiling! I'm almost to the glass door to get inside, but the line isn't moving. As I stand there waiting, I notice the glass is all smeared with who knows what but very disgusting. Doesn't look like anyone cleans the place. Been in line for 30 minutes and at this rate It will be another hour. (Since I've been standing here a bunch of people have entered, looked at the line and just left.) Finally I gave up and left, too. Someone needs to get there sh** together.... Is anyone in charge here or are they all sleeping in the back room? read more

If you get the right employee here, you'll have a good experience. If you get the wrong employee, you may walk away a bit unhappy. For the most part, for a government office, I have walked away from my experience untroubled. The lobby is huge. The store itself is too small and often customers are out the door, which makes the waiting area a little warm. The parking lot is quite large and well maintained. read more

This location is one of the best in the Summerville area. I can usually get in and out of this location in 5-10 minutes which is amazing for a USPS. When there is a line up they always call for more staff to serve customers. There is lots of parking at this location which is also helpful. They always have supplies on hand and their card selection is great. In addition they always have some nice range of stamps and first day covers for stamp collectors. Their is a passport office at this location, but I can't review that service as I've never used it. read more

It is 11:30 AM on Tuesday Dec. 18 and I have tried unsuccessfully to reach the Gum St, Post Office. I continue to get a recording that tells me to call back during regular business hours after 9 AM. Someone needs to fix your recording since it is now 11:30 AM. I'm very upset with the pickup yesterday. I put my Christmas cards (with the flag up)out yesterday at 1 PM and upon checking this morning my cards have not been picked up. Our mail pickup has been running 6 PM or later and there was no excuse that my cards were not picked up. First of all you need to FIX your recording and have the postman pick the mail up when the flag is up. Your customer service in these two areas are in dire need of improvement. I sincerely hope my cards are picked up today or I will contact a higher authority with the Post Office. I live at 703 Central Ave. in Summerville. read more

This is the most unprofessional and incompetent post office I've ever encountered. Not only can you expect to wait extra long for the simplest service, their carriers can't deliver packages properly and they refuse to honor their "guaranteed on time or your money back" false promise for their Express mailing. Oh, and the customer is never right, despite having proof and screen shots and time stamps. Still no refund. Never using the USPS when I need to mail something to Summerville. Despicable management who likes to argue with customers on the phone based on their incompetent staff and not actual facts. If you want mail or packages delivered to the proper location and ON TIME, do not use this facility. I don't remember the woman who argued with me but Steve the official manager of whoever you are- great team you are training there. You should be ashamed of yourself. I paid extra to send a very special package to arrive by a specific time and you FAILED. And still didn't give me my deserved and promised refund. Disgusted by you. read more

I love the Summerville Post Office and have used it since 1975 when I moved to Summerville. There are sometimes long lines, especially at this time of year (holiday season). I really like Jane and always try to wait till she is free to make my stamp purchases. I am aware that the Post Office has a heavy burden having to pay all kinds of up-front pension money. It is wonderful how the service delivers to outlying areas of the community. Long live the USPS! read more

No. The carrier lost my mail. Twice in one week. Now I'm out $75. All they told me to do was file a claim. Not helpful at all. Maybe they should do some remedial training with their employees so we don't have this problem read more

Terrible delivery service. The residents in my community often get other peoples' mail due to improper delivery. It happened to me two days in a row this week alone. The post office was contacted about this months ago and promises were made, but none have been kept. People aren't receiving their prescriptions, bills, etc. This is totally unacceptable. I plan to escalate this to someone who can actually do something about the problem. read more

This is the absolute worst post office in the entire state!!! None of the workers care about anything, the phone alerts are hours later, God forbid they actually answer the phone. They got my live animals which sat overnight with no phone calls. Then they gave them away to some strangers after 3 in the afternoon and 3 of my baby chicks died!! We tried to get to the dock 3 hours after they got to the post office and no one was there. A bunch of freaking idiots work there read more

This location has a line but is usually fairly quick. If you need help with a package they are good about helping as long as you have the right employee. If you have Renee wait for someone else. I repeat do not try to have her help with a package. She seems helpful and will say she is going to take care of it but does not. Then when I had to go back in the employees ask who was helping you and when you sag Renee they say that was your first problem. To top it off she also answered her cell phone at the counter when she was "helping" me read more
