I went to our local post office on Section Line Road in Hot Springs, AR yesterday/Sunday. I was…read moremailing a small manilla mailing envelope to my son. I used the mailing machine in the lobby, which prints out the proper postage on a white sticker. Instead, it dispensed a regular stamp (.50) with the amount of postage I was charged, stamped on top of it. It was difficult to read but dropped it through the slot. As soon as I did, I thought it most likely would not make it to the destination since it looked like just a regular stamp with print on top. I called the post office first thing this morning (several times) trying to inform them the machine was messed up and to see if I could get legible postage on my package, but got no answer. I went over and stood in a long line for my turn. I got to the desk and informed the guy that the machine had malfunctioned and i was afraid my package would not make it to destination. He could not have cared less about the machine or my package. Rude as he could be. It was all i could do to hold my composure. He said it probably went yesterday morning, but I did not mail till yesterday afternoon. He said he did not have time to go sifting through all the mail to retrieve my package. Seems he could have called someone from the back to help me. I could hear several people in the back putting mail in the PO boxes. I went over and rang the bell for help with PO boxes, but no one came. This was a little after 8 AM and he was already complaining to his coworker how he had been waiting on customers non stop.

This is a small, neighborhood post office - the one-room kind that every small town in America has…read more It's nice to find that kind of small community post office in a bigger city :) There's access (and drop-off mailboxes) on the back side, uphill from the Kroger parking lot in Hillcrest, and walk-in access on Kavenaugh proper. It's so narrow it's easy to miss from either side, but very convenient for those of us who live nearby. They have P.O. boxes for rent, small shipping boxes and envelopes for USPS Priority packages, the usual selection of stamps. But why this location stands out to me is the individual service. There's rarely ever more than one person at the counter to help customers, but there's rarely more than two customers in the place, so things tend to move quickly. But, I've had consistently great service from the folks here, and any letter or package I send from this location seems, almost magically, to get where it's going at least a day before it should. What higher praise can you give a Post Office?

I end up having to call the help line to file a claim to get it recovered and delivered. I've had packages go missing, found weeks later delivered to another address, also found in the back of a broken down pick up truck with tracking saying it was "delivered to carport/garage" .. everyone I've spoken with on the phone at this location is very helpful, nice & professional.. don't know what's going on with the workers of other duties here
