I recently came back from some international travels and I'm one of the few people who still send postcards. Postcards I send from USA locations: 100% delivery within a couple of days. Postcards I send from anywhere else in the world: 80% or less within two weeks. Kentwood is a part of the best postal service in the world. But it's also an inefficient government bureaucracy run by Congress and an appointee whose job was to destroy operations. From what I've seen, the people working here on the front lines are nice and competent.

The clerk that helped me was so incredibly rude to me, and made me feel so terrible for having two international packages because apparently they take a long time to process. He was yelling at me and telling the customers who were coming in after me that they had to wait because I had brought in two international packages and that it was my fault they were waiting and not his fault. Every single time another customer would come in, he would yell and tell them that it was going to be a really long wait because "this girl" has two international packages to send out. He told me I was making him "suffer" by having two packages sent internationally. When I apologized for having two international packages and for it taking a little longer, he told me "don't apologize to me, apologize to THEM for making them wait!" and pointed to the customers behind me in line. I then turned to them at this point, told them how sorry I was for making them wait in tears. I have NEVER in my life felt so horribly at the hand of a complete stranger. I went to the location on the corner of Monroe and Michigan in Grand Rapids, and I was helped by a tall, caucasian guy with glasses and a receding hairline. On my receipt, it was clerk #4 but I don't know if that was a number specific to him or the register we were at. The way he spoke to me was ABSOLUTELY unacceptable. All because I wanted my boyfriend to have a piece of home during Christmas while he is ACROSS THE WORLD fighting for our freedom. This is the 2nd time I've been to this location and helped by this man and made me feel horrible for brining in a care package. I have also watched him berate an elderly woman for asking if a package would be mailed by a specific date and her walking out. If he spoke this way to me, he is definitely speaking like this to others as well and that is absolutely atrocious.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with USPS and the customer service I…read morereceived. My package was marked as delivered, but it was never actually delivered to my home. What makes this even more frustrating is that this was a VERY LARGE package. There is absolutely no way it could have fit inside my mailbox. I also have Ring cameras covering both my front door and the area by my mailbox, so I can see what is coming and going around my property. There is no footage showing this large package being delivered to my home. Yet USPS says it was delivered. When I contacted the post office about my missing package, I spoke with Carol. I explained everything to her, including the size of the package, the fact that it could not possibly have fit in my mailbox, and that I have cameras showing it was not delivered to my property. Instead of offering a solution or genuinely trying to help me figure out what happened, I found her to be rude, dismissive, and extremely unhelpful. At this point, I have a very difficult time believing the claim that my package was properly delivered to my address. I wish there were still more honesty and accountability in situations like this. If a package is lost, misplaced, or delivered to the wrong address, I would much rather be told the truth and have someone make a genuine effort to correct the problem than simply be told it was delivered when the evidence I have says otherwise. This experience has caused me to lose my trust and confidence in USPS. Customers should not have to fight to get answers about packages that are marked as delivered but never arrive. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution others about relying on USPS for important or valuable deliveries. I will be looking at other delivery providers in the future. USPS needs to do better when it comes to accountability, resolving missing-package issues, and treating customers with respect.

As if we are the ones who work there every day. They are rude and condescending. I try to get as much information as I can online before I go here, to try and reduce how rude whoever is working at the desk will be. Basically unless you have a pre-printed, pre-paid label and have everything packed up and ready to go it's not going to be an easy time. One time I needed to tape a package shut. I know I've done that at other post offices before and it's never been an issue. The man behind the counter was so rude. I can understand if that's not something they do, or if they aren't able to tape things for customers, but there was absolutely no reason to be rude about it. In that instance I ended up going home, taping the package, and going back later. It's not the first time I've gone home to fix or change something to avoid having to pay more there. Bring your own tape. Bring your own scissors. Bring your own pens. There was one employee who was very pleasant, but I haven't seen her there in a long time. Which is unfortunate since every other employee I've had to interact with seems to be on a mission to make peoples' lives more difficult. Go to a different location if you can. The folks working in the downtown Rockford location are much more pleasant.

This time, the man was passive aggressive, and did not want to sign the form in front of us. It was only after we insisted that we witness his signature, that he signed. It's so frustrating that they made a mistake and instead of apologizing, acted like it was our fault and refused to correct the mistake. No wonder the post office is failing.
