I was kind of preparing myself for the worst, since I feel like you always hear horror stories about SOS offices. I made an appointment online for my preferred location on Plainfield. They had a lot of times available so I was able to get in the next day. I arrived just around my appointment time (the confirmation email specifically stated that I did not have to arrive early) and an employee checked me in. I brought a book thinking I'd have to sit and wait, but I was seen shortly after my appointment time after standing in line. The employee who helped me was super funny, personable, and seemed really happy, which has not always been my experience at any SOS office. That was refreshing and I really liked chatting with her. I wish I had gotten her name because she was so great. I got my photo taken quickly and then I was on my way. Can't ask for a much better visit!

As a lifelong library user and former librarian, I love libraries! As part of GRPL's summer reading…read morechallenge, I visited a branch I'd never been to before - the Seymour branch. They have a large parking lot and the space is open and bright. I loved the hold pickup lockers near the parking lot - I wish my neighborhood branch had them. There is a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the main entrance, so be aware for those with mobility issues. It is flat, though. I always love checking out the new book section of any library, and was able to find it right away. I browsed the cookbook section and found some CDs to check out. The whole library was very clean and well-organized and I had no issues using the self checkout. They even have an enclosed booth for making calls. So glad I was able to visit this branch - even though it's not super close to where I live, I wouldn't hesitate to stop in the next time I'm in the neighborhood!

I was trying to print some things, but the room where the printer is was very crowded with people on computers and the printer was occupied, so I went to another branch for that. I definitely could have been more patient but felt like it was a bit cramped in the room. I parked on the street but it looks like there is a parking lot behind the building, as well as hold lockers outside which I think are super nice. I wish my branch had them.

There is free parking available in the lot, as well as metered street parking in front. There's also a voter ballot box outside, which is really convenient and I've dropped off ballots here multiple times.
