I recently came back from some international travels and I'm one of the few people who still send postcards. Postcards I send from USA locations: 100% delivery within a couple of days. Postcards I send from anywhere else in the world: 80% or less within two weeks. Kentwood is a part of the best postal service in the world. But it's also an inefficient government bureaucracy run by Congress and an appointee whose job was to destroy operations. From what I've seen, the people working here on the front lines are nice and competent.

Grand Rapids police and postal staff do nothing to address the situation. PO Boxes only accessible during business hours, not very convenient or customer friendly. No automated shipping kiosk. In addition, supervisors shift blame to consumers when their staff continue to deposit mail in a private mailbox when all mail is supposed to be going to a PO Box that I pay several hundred dollars a year for.

We signed it and left it on the door. Six days later I called the post office to see why we had not received our package yet and the man who answered was very rude after speaking with the mail carrier for our area. He said "how was she supposed to know that you had signed it and it was on your door?" I said "well, because the paper says that the USPS will make a new attempt the next day to get a signature and they would be coming to the door, correct?" He became, if possible ruder, and said that I had a lack of communication and should have called them to tell them that I had signed the paper if I wanted my package. I dont know why I should have to call the USPS to tell them that I followed their directions and that they were ok to follow through with their job. I asked him to ensure that my package be delivered today please. He said something inaudible and snarky as I hung up on him.

Inside they have post office boxes and Mail drops. Then go in the next set of doors during regular hours for service. They tend to be fairly slow in there so if there is a line I would come back later. They also have drive up mail drop points in the back which is very beneficial.
