My partner came with me to the appointment, as we were both excited and, given our previous pregnancy experiences, had some questions and concerns. During the visit, Dr. Cropper asked only a few brief questions and performed a quick ultrasound simply to confirm the pregnancy. The ultrasound photo we were given was blurry and off-center, but what disappointed us most was the interaction. When my partner brought up concerns based on our prior pregnancies, they were dismissed with brief, cold responses. Throughout the appointment, I also felt that Dr. Cropper barely acknowledged my partner or made us feel comfortable discussing our concerns. When the office later called to schedule a follow-up appointment, I explained that I was still upset about the care I had received and shared my concerns about how the appointment had gone. The front desk staff told me they would call me back to schedule the follow-up. Instead, I received a letter informing me that Dr. Cropper would no longer be seeing me due to "patient-doctor differences." As a newly pregnant woman, this was incredibly disappointing and upsetting. Rather than addressing my concerns or attempting to improve communication, I was dismissed from the practice. I found the way the situation was handled to be unprofessional and disrespectful. Every patient deserves to feel heard, especially during such an important and vulnerable time. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Dr. Cropper.

Typically, doctors ask these questions in private, either on forms or one on one time, to respect patient privacy and reduce embarrassment or discomfort. Pregnancy is an emotional and important time, and bedside manner matters. Unfortunately, this provider comes across as rushed, dismissive, and lacking compassion. I adored Dr. Oliver and felt that she was an amazing doctor (performed my c/s) and did an amazing job. I'm currently pregnant and haven't delivered yet with Dr. Pham but so far I'm very happy with the care. She's very attentive and carefully listens to me and my concerns. I do notice that this office is not as "hands on" and more "old school" (they don't do ultrasounds unless you ask compared to other friends of mine in different offices who experience the opposite) but she so far has been wonderful! I only visited a few times and bedside manner was always meh, at best, and usually worse. I figured it was fine for an annual pap exam until I could get around to finding someone else. Then I had an actual serious medical issue come up. No, I didn't find out from her, I found out from the lab results that had been uploaded to the FemCare patient portal. When she finally called me DAYS later, first she said she just received the results. I told her that wasn't true because they were in the FemCare patient portal days prior and that her having the results and her looking at the results are two very different things. Especially with serious health issues. Then she started making excuses including that she's the only doctor left at FemCare because the others all quit and that "patients make doctors feel overworked and burned out" (actual quote from her). I told her she needs to look inside herself and find a sense of humanity. Whatever you do, do not go to Dhaliwal. Even if you think she's good enough for something minor like annual pap smears, you will 100% regret it if anything serious comes up.

Today we walked in for her 6 week postpartum appointment and they had no record that we had scheduled the appointment. She ran into the exam room and quickly, as she was trying to walk out of the door, gave single word answers to the questions my wife was asking. She was dismissive and wanted the appointment over as soon as humanly possible. I've also been trying to get her office to complete some insurance paperwork since March, and they continue to not fill out the paperwork that I've requested - as such, my insurance hasn't paid and a lab company wants nearly $4,000 for a test that should be covered under my plan. As we were leaving, we found out she is retiring TOMORROW and couldn't be bothered to end her patient relationships she spent so much time building with dignity and professionalism. This was my first ever colposcopy so I was of course extremely scared and anxious. During the procedure I felt so violated as again nothing was explained to me and it was very painful. Afterwards she had me stand up and I began bleeding all over the stool to the table. The nurse had left with the samples at this point and all Dr. Akram said was " oh they didn't give you a pad?" And proceeded to hand me one and walk out of the room. There was no explanation as to why I was bleeding so much, if that was normal or not and no empathy. I left her office and cried the entire drive home feeling like I had been so deeply violated. This is such a horrible procedure to begin with but Dr. Akram made the experience so much worse with her cold demeanor and lack of compassion. I've unfortunately had to have another colposcopy since and it was night and day of an experience. I barely bled at all and that Dr. Went above and beyond to explain things, offer tips during procedure to ease the pain and was very empathetic and made sure I was ok afterwards.

He is located in the PVMC building 2nd floor (confusing since it says he's in suite 101). The front staff is friendly and the nurse who helped me, Coral (if I remember correctly), was nice as well. Dr. Elsharkawy introduced himself and made the effort to try to get to know me, which I appreciated as a first time patient with him. He has a very calm and friendly demeanor and made me feel very comfortable throughout the exam, and was able to do a full well woman visit that day (I thought I was only getting a consult meeting as a first time patient). I don't plan on having any more babies, but I'm sure he'd be great if that's what you need. I found out he's actually a family doctor as well, so I can see him as my primary care physician also! I'm so glad I found him and am happy to have him as my new doctor!
