I know people has been having good experience with her, but so far I'm not as impressed as I wanted to be. I chose to see dr. Wohlert because of the location, and I prefer a female OBGYN.
I was 5 weeks into my pregnancy and just wanted to get a prenatal care started, hopefully finding the OB for me. My first appointment with my primary care Dr. Khalighi was great. I wasn't seen by a PA, but by nurses, and then the Dr herself. She was passionate about the pregnancy, and was quick to give me some good starter info that I should look into. I then tried to book an appointment with Dr. Wohlert, this is when I starts to have some problems. The first appointment went okay, we arrived on time, only had to wait for 30-40 minutes to be taken in. Granted I missed my appointment the day before, and they were gracious enough to squeeze me in the next day, but I had a full bladder for the urine test, I'd much prefer to be seen as soon as possible. After we were guided into the back room, we waited another 20-30 min to see the doctor herself. The meeting itself was okay, we had a nice conversation, and she was very nice. Up to this point, everything was okay, and I booked my next appointment a month later. Before our appointment ended, she said call me anytime if you have questions. I thanked her for that, and kept her contact info close by.
Two weeks after the first OB visit, I started having spotting issues. I observed for a few days, and then called the OB's office hoping to speak to her, it may not be a big issue, but speaking with the OB herself is comforting to me. I wasn't able to speak to her even though she was in the office. I understand she is popular and have tons of patients, so a nurse spoke to me and told me to go to ER if situation worsen. The nurse told me to talk to the receptionist to see if I can schedule one within the next few days just to be safe. I couldn't, because the earliest appointment available would be later than the appointment I had already scheduled. Before the spotting, I had urine test, ultrasound, and blood drawn. Blood drawn was ordered by Dr. Wohlert herself, so the reports would go to her, but I never received any call or results about the blood work.
A week later, I had heavy bleeding that I had to be rushed to the ER(Pomona valley, do NOT go there for ER). After 7 hours of waiting I was told I have threatened miscarriage. They want me.to contact my OB in the morning, and schedule an appointment as soon as possible. I was ordered bed rest until I see her, so my husband called the office on my behalf. We then learned that she was out of town, so I spoke to another doctor that's seeing her patients for the time being. I would've prefer to know this BEFOREHAND, not when I really needed to speak to her. I then asked when is the earliest I can get an appointment, not surprisingly, it was two weeks from the day I called.
The people at the Pomona Valley medical center at Chino Hills are all very nice, including the doctor herself. But I don't think I'll be going back after my next ultrasound. I think she's just way too popular/busy for me. I may be asking too much, but as a first time pregger, I really would appreciate a little bit more attention. Plus their scheduling is just too difficult. Even the imaging center for ultrasound. I needed an emergency follow up ultrasound after the ER visit, and the earliest date they have is a whole month later.
On a side note, Pomona Valley Medical Center is not very transparent with their bills. I looked into my insurance claims, one ultrasound was billed close to 2200 usd. I did have an pelvic ultrasound on top of the general ones, but even after all the insurance I may still owe -500 usd for one single ultrasound.
