Yesterday evening, I was looking forward to spending a lovely time with family while enjoying a…read morebeautiful dinner at The Terrace, part of the Marcy Casino complex. In attempting to do this, I was breaking with tradition, as I routinely gather with family and friends at the Curtiss Hotel or The Richardson Hotel, ...being accustomed to their consistently phenomenal customer service. You can hardly imagine my disappointment and embarrassment with the treatment my guests and I received from the host/receptionist at The Terrace. From the moment we entered the venue, we were dismissed as vagabonds, even though we were elegantly dressed. My family, and I, accomplished purveyors of the arts, haute cuisine, and world travelers, had found ourselves brutally insulted and our value as guests to the venue, diminished by the arrogance and classless attitude presented when we requested to be seated for dinner. By the way, the place was nowhere near capacity in reference to already seated guests... in fact, it was pretty empty. We were told it was requisite that we needed to make on-line reservations in order to be seated and served at a table... no exceptions! An empathetic waiter and waitress, overhearing our predicament, tried coming to our rescue and suggested we may consider being seated at the bar. We were told the menu was the same whether we were at the bar or a table. When this waiter and waitress kindly tried to accommodate us with the suggestion to consider sitting at the bar, the host met their eyes with a glance of total defiance. We were so uncomfortable at the prospect of continuing to manage sitting at the bar, with only one table available for four people, coupled with that the discernible feeling of not being wanted at the venue overcame us. So, we proceeded to default to one of our usual venues, where class, accommodation and elegance always reigns, that being the Richardson. We will never risk giving that host at the Terrace the opportunity to show such disrespect to us again! I hope this review has others considering an alternate establishment that maintains the dignity of their visitors rather than disrespecting and disregarding it!

This is a gorgeous space for weddings, parties and a variety of events. This review is from the point of view of an attendee and not a renter (I've never rented this space before), so keep that in mind. The building is setup with multiple floors and is split into multiple rooms which are basically super comfy lounges. There are fireplaces and a gorgeous deck on the top floor that overlooks Hoyt Lake. There are multiple bathrooms as well as open spaces where a DJ and a dance floor can be setup. Whether you're looking to host Buffalo's next big party or are looking for a personal venue for a wedding reception, The Marcy Casino is definitely a space you should explore! It's beautiful.

Road trip side step…read more On my way to my final destination I made a stop in the Buffalo area to see some things before I could check into my hotel. I have been in search of some Presidential sites recently and came across this while browsing for things to do before I left for my vacation. If you happen to stop by the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site they kind of point you in this direction. If not done on purpose, it's in a passing manner. There you will understand my Teddy had his swearing in ceremony because of what happened near this site. In this beautiful, planned out community you will stumble upon a median in the road that holds mostly trees and a variety of plants. Every so often it is dotted with rocks. This rock was purposefully put here. This community once held the Pan-American Expo, an expansive exposition of the countries from the Americas. With the expo there were many makeshift buildings built that could easily be torn down once the expo reached completion. The building that this stones represents, in a manner, was the Temple of Music. Just outside the temple, President McKinley would be shot by a man and ultimately pass away due to the gunshot. This stone is meant to be a monument or maybe a placard to remind you of what once happened in this area. It is well maintained and as other reviews have stated, usually flanked by small American flags. Some housekeeping here. Be mindful of the area, this is a neighborhood and you are visiting. Do not block a driveway. It is a road, be aware of your surroundings and traffic. Do not trample the area. Lastly, make it quick, there isn't much else to see here.

It may seem morbid, but it is history. The Pan American Exposition was build to be leveled…read moreafterwards, so nothing (save one building, I believe) remains. So, this rock is the only thing to remind the USA of McKinley's assassination and the only president to be inaugurated outside of DC. If you're looking for the full tour, add a stop to Delaware and W. Ferry, which is where McKinley died (there's just a sign there). And then go to the Roosevelt Museum/National Park. It's work the small price of admission and is a small, yet well done museum (perhaps a bit too patriotic, but that's to be expected I suppose).

DANGEROUS CAMPUS!!!! NO POLICE PRESENCE at basketball game…read moreon 3/1/25!!!! Attended the basketball game with some friends. The place was packed!! Did not see any police maybe 1 officer? Saw what appeared to be security guards, but no police officers....not sure what's up with that? I thought Canisius University had a police department? Says online they have a police department at Canisius University. I saw some people that appeared to be security guards at the game, but there were only a few of them. There were a bunch of fights breaking out at the game and after...... and NO ONE HAD CONTROL of the situation! It was REALLY SCARY!!!! People were fighting, saw a door get ripped off a bathroom!!! NUTS.... I don't understand if people pay so much money to go to school here...where is the police department during a game when there are so many people and anything......LITERALLY ANYTHING could happen???!!! Heard from some friends that attend Canisius University that their entire police department has been leaving because of the Chief of Canisius's Police that got hired. Not sure if that is true or not, but I can tell you there was NO law-enforcement presence at the basketball game from a firsthand experience. I think I literally saw 1 Canisius University police officer. Pretty sad if it is true that Canisius would keep somebody like that leader of their Police Department in that position if that person is causing and driving all of the officers away from the university that are supposed to be protecting it? Makes no sense, right... Not sure who makes the decisions on brining in Police Chiefs, but I can tell you that I would not be paying to go to school there with that many problems if that is what's really going on because rumors are circulating all over the campus about it. Found all the details above out after talking to people at the game that go to the school. Anybody could've walked in there and there could've been a major problem. NO POLICE!!!!! I don't think I'm gonna be going back to anymore games there. The game was great, however I value my life!!!!

The Chief of Public Safety at Canisius should be removed immediately. Hiring him was a serious…read moremistake from the start. His leadership (or lack thereof ) has driven away nearly all the staff. Most of the time, there's only one officer on duty, making it nearly impossible for the department to properly respond to emergencies. Instead of leading, the Chief spends his days isolated in his office, belittling employees and writing poorly constructed books riddled with grammatical errors. It's no surprise he couldn't hold a position for even a year at two other colleges before landing at Canisius. Shame on Canisius for both hiring him and continuing to keep him in this critical role despite clear evidence of his failure. If you genuinely care about student safety, you should look elsewhere ... because right now, Canisius does not have a functional safety department. Don't just take my word for it: call dispatch and ask how many officers are on duty. You'll likely hear there's only one or none at all.

Can't think so it's cuz you don't know what I know. One of the many spectacular Circles of Buffalo, this one is close to the park and the lakes and getting on the 198. Located in Buffalo - which is a very unique and special City in the sense of having all of these wonderful gorgeous spacious big wide green traffic circles all over the center of town. Yes they can be tricky to drive around if you're not used to it but if you grew up in Europe, then it makes perfect sense. The circles of Buffalo are nothing short of beautiful and extremely unique to the city because let's face it - most cities don't have anything like this and it makes the town unique end they should really put these at every intersection everywhere in the country because then the whole country would be more smooth - as long as I and I don't have to educate all these awful drivers on how to actually drive around roundabouts. Even the Buffalo drivers don't really know and they actually live among some of the greatest ones in the country.

Most of Buffalos came from Olmsted's park system design, they were a part of the whole plan. Gates Circle is at the foot of Chapin Parkway, and Delaware and Lexington both go around the circle. EB Green finished the design the circle, at the request of Mrs Charles Pardee, who lived in the area. He envisioned the fountain, benches, greenery etc. Its rumored there is a "whisper gallery" as well, but I don't know if that's true. Ive never tried that for myself. This past year its been the site of more than a few car accidents. Seems most have been at night, and some involved excessive speed. Its too bad, as its now closed to all while its being rebuilt from one of those accidents. BUt prior to this years accidents, its been a nice oasis in the middle of lots of traffic. A beautioful site when the flowers are in bllom and the foundation is spouting. 1877
