I went into Auburn US cellular store and was told that I could get Internet along with phone. So I sat down with a representative and he told me there was absolutely no cost. If you decide to bring it back within 15 days of signing no contract Involved.I asked specifically are you sure there is nothing extra cost wise? He told me straight to my face that there was no extra if brought back within the 15 days. I told him I only needed it for a few months and didn't want to get tied down with anything. It turns out when I went to sign he did tell me after I prodded out him That there is a $360 charge for their Internet module which boils down to 36 months at $10 a month prorated for as long as you keep it up to three years. At that point, I was going to walk out because this was what I didn't want, but he talked me into trying it out and if I didn't like it, it would cost me nothing just bring it back within 15 days. I said fair enough. Well, after 14 I brought it back and it turned out that they have a $39 restock fee. never told me about that and lied right to my face that he did. I told him "boy you people must really need the money if you screw a man for 39 bucks. Well, this is the second time they have taken advantage of me and I should've known but I just wanna warn people that these people are very deceptive and outright liars . caveat emptor " buyer beware" stay away from these people. Unfortunately, I come from a time. When a man's handshake is his honor,I can honestly say this no longer exist in today's society where they will screw you over for two bucks. A couple years back U.S. Cellular was running a program where you could sign up with NO contract. My wife and I decided to give it a try. We went into this branch and were set up with a person who claimed they were the store manager in Portland. We told him we wanted the no contract plan because we were unsure if we would have service like we had with our previous carrier. He assured we would be fine and started setting us up with the no contract plan. We set it up as a business which he assured us was not a problem, then told us we needed to sign for the Sim card. We did. Then we signed for the cases we bought and paid for the extras and were on our way. In less than a month we had the worst service we have ever had, so we decided to go back to our other carrier. They told us on the phone we would need to pay over $700 to cancel the plan. We told them we didn't have a plan. They said ok and canceled everything. To make a really long story short, the person who signed us up was not a manager at another store, but just an employee there. They also scammed us while doing the paperwork and put us on a plan (please read carefully what you sign and don't take their word for it). I fought over and over on the Better Business Bureau with U.S. Cellular, but they didn't care stating I should have watched one of their commercials and should just have known and it didn't matter what the employee stated since I should have known. In the end I was forced to pay the money. They do not care about the customers and though the people at this store are generally great to deal with, the person who helped me and the people who dealt with me at home office while going through the BBB were nothing more than scam artists and anyone thinking of getting service here should find somewhere else to go. I was told by the sales person that I couldn't keep my old number unless I went back to the state I got it from. Not true with other providers. Phone glass so thin the breeze could break it and wouldn't warranty it. Reception in the industrial park by I95 in Lewiston, Me. was pathetic! Went to T mobile and sales person showed me how much abuse their phones could take and offered to let me try to break one on display. I was impressed! Switched with my old out of state number. I'm out over two hundred dollars cuz I bought a junk phone that is designed to get you to upgrade! US Cellular was a bad choice and a bad experience! read more

I went in this past week to talk about a new phone. The "customer service rep" that I tried to speak with about what I was looking for etc was absolutely rude and shouldn't be working with the public. It was like pulling teeth! When I sat down she pulled up my information, which I understand can take some time but there was no small talk and when it got to the point where I wondered if she remembered I was sitting in front of her, I started to ask her questions to which all I received was short answers. I wanted to ask are you going to help me or am I at the wrong desk?! It shouldn't be that way. When you work in customer service eye contact is nice, acknowledging the person is even better and do not make the person that is a customer feel awkward and like they are a bother to you the entire time. The next time I go in I really hope I get someone that realizes that they actually work there. read more
