Wouldn't you know it, within 12 hours of that event, my debit card was stolen. After more research to confirm what seemed pretty obvious, it turns out several franchised Shell stations in L.A. with similar ownership are known for pulling this ripoff. And they don't even sell lotto tickets, so you'll have to stop somewhere else if you want to grab one of those anyway, so why bother? I thought this was pretty weird, but when you're stealing people's bank funds to make up for low gas sales, why bother with Lottery? Just sell cigarettes, gas, and drain people's bank accounts or sell them on the Internet to people who do (my bank card number was attempted for purchase to buy exactly $100 - presumably an untraceable gift card - at a Lowe's in Georgia, while I was still in CA). Took my 5 gal tank to mike Thompson propane at downey chevron and get charged the minimum 5 gal charge (my tank was empty). Then the service man filled tank up to barely 3 gallons and told me I still had propane. I don't think so. Oh well last time I go there. Paid $20 for 3 gallons of propane.
