I stop in to try to ask the service clerk if I could use the the bathroom, The response that I received is the the most ridiculous answer to a simple request. The clerk said that the door was "out of order" I replied the bathroom is out of order? He said no, The door is closed...? I knew the second I walk in that the two clerks are the type of workers that perform the bare minimum of work and the frace customer service is something from another world. Needless to say I would do any further business of any kind , It demonstrates that if a simple little thing such as allowing the use of a restroom at a gas station is small sample of how much there willing to appreciate my business. The store manager/owner(?) came out to our truck & chased us down for ONE DOLLAR charge for ice. Never heard of charging for ice, & the fact he chased us down for it was ridiculous. I DO NOT RECOMMEND! I went here to get a car wash, I paid and when I pulled up to go into the car wash there was an orange cone blocking the entrance. I waited for about 2 minutes and a man came out. He told me to pull forward a few feet, turned on a power washer and hoses off the front and side of the car on the drivers side. He then grabbed a soapy brush and started brushing my car with it. At this point I'm confused and assuming the car wash is broke down and he's going to hand wash the car. It's then when I felt a bump on my tire (mind you I had my foot on the brake because he didn't give me any directions and automated machine looked to be off with no lights flashing or operating). As soon as I felt the bump he stared at me through the front windshield with a very aggressive face and I looked back at him for about 30 seconds. I rolled down my window and he said why isn't your car in neutral I said, "Hi, I'm so confused I didn't know this was the car wash. I didn't know you were hand washing the car." He yelled at me, "No you put the car in neutral!" I said "Sir, you never told me anything I looked at you the whole time you came out and looked at the automated lights and nothing instructed me to put the car in neutral and off the brake". I didn't even know I was technically "inside". He looked at me and screamed, "No, I do this extra, you don't want extra?" I said "Oh yes, of course". He then put the brush away and started the automated wash. I guess he was that mad he didn't do the "extra" for me. That's ridiculous. First off, his customer service is terrible, and second he shouldn't be treating customers that way that are supporting the business. I paid $15 for that wash and it was garbage. Not worth it at all. He looked and yelled at me very aggressive like he wanted to fight. He's lucky I didn't get out of my car for the way he was talking to me. This place will not EVER receive my business. Come to find out a couple others I know no longer go here due to that same guy. (Shorter, thin build, middle eastern man) save your money and find another place, they don't deserve it!! They have you vacuums that WORK! they provide you with towels, windex, car perfume and Amad was so awesome he brought me tire conditioning or whatever that is to make my tires nice and shiny at no cost! Hey..this Arco does offer free Air..thank goodness..the Chevron across the street definitely doesn't. I can focus on how cheap the price of gas is but probably as cheap as the gas because the gas definitely doesn't not last long in your car and dont know if that's good or bad. They have a car wash and these dirty guys hitting on the chicks that wash their car there. Awesome car wash, best gas prices, and great people! The car wash holds the car under the drying fans too which helps get water out of the cracks.. definitely a nice detail! Their vacuums are super strong and they provide glass cleaner, detailing spray, car perfume, as well as large microfiber towels. The cherry on top is the super helpful & friendly staff. I myself came across one who after a few exchanges of verbal judo made the wise decision to step away. Now, as for today, came in to get my truck washed & was happily surprised to receive a FREE 42oz soft drink as I paid for my wash which to me, "If its FREE, its for me!" was an added bonus on todays visit. My truck came out nice & clean & all done in a timely manner. I was satisfied with todays visit. PROS Gas prices are lowest a lot of times at this ARCO and they have a car wash so might as well kill two birds with one stone. Wish they had lotto in there and maybe a subway or something.. then it'd be my one stop shop. "Top tier" 87-octane, regular unleaded gas for $2.49.9 a gallon today at Downey ARCO, Lakewood Boulevard and Florence. Fill 'er up, bay-bee! Was I driving my Dodge van with a 22-gallon tank capacity today? No, afraid not. My Mustang that holds 13.9 gallons? Wrong again. It was my wimpy Prius that wouldn't even accept $15 worth of fuel; it had three bars out of 10 remaining on the fuel display when I arrived. I had to go back to the cashier for $1 in change. The diplomatic, charming cashier tried to assuage my embarrassment, and really, what's wrong with having a low-capacity fuel tank in a gas-miserly vehicle? Nothing, as it turned out. The rest of my day included driving through strangled freeways: 134/101 starting at Burbank and extending past my Laurel Canyon exit, and then 405 from Brentwood to my LAX-adjacent exit, in what must have been record-setting Hanukkah traffic. The amusing thing about the Prius is that it runs mostly on battery power in slow-and-go traffic, and the consumption display shows you getting more than 100 mpg while you're barely overtaking an escaped desert tortoise. Kinda makes you wish traffic never approached the speed limit, which could explain why so many Priuses seem to be the obstacles in otherwise free-flowing traffic. But I digress. The gas is as cheap here at the other two Arcos I go to here in Downey and they also have an AmPm market but there is one thing that really bothers me about this Arco. There are tons of jerks at this Arco. Several times I have had people that KNEW that I was waiting before them CUT in front of me:( They speed up too so you know they are being JERKS! I hate this place. At this Arco there are usually more people waiting than at the other two. The only cool thing about this Arco is the ladies that work inside the AmPm. A couple of them have cracked me up on several occasions. When I came back out the man proceeded to tell me that because the man that came after me was a regular he was going to go first. Eventhough I was actually there first. I usually get my car wash here since it's a great price and they have great customer service. Today I was waiting in line and they usually have you leave your key in the car or they come and ask for it so they can move your car for you I was waiting inside the car for the guy to come and get my receipt and key and this other car in back of me arrived and he started honking there was a car in front of me the driver had stepped out to get a drink I didn't want to move ahead of him because I didn't want to cut him in line. The guy kept honking got off his car banged on my window and told me "aren't you going to move your shit forward" I was startled because I was by myself and his tone of voice was very aggressive and I didn't want him to hit my car or do anything to me I didn't move my car forward because I didn't want to cut anyone in line. So he got in his car cut me and the other car in line and took our spot. I went to the car wash attendants and told them the car had just cut us off from the line they didn't say anything or do anything about it. So I went to the cashier and asked for a refund I can't believe men think they can just scream at a woman and abuse their so call power they have good customer service but the fact that they didn't do anything about this jerk is not okay. Horribly rude. I purchased $10 in gas and the needle didn't move and my mileage didn't reset. I told the guy to come out and I would show him. He pulled the receipt and literally shoved it in my face and said if his register said I got gas, then I got gas. I told him to look my my gauge. He slapped the receipt and said "I don't care what your gas gauge or anything else says. I only care what my receipt says..." Then he just walks off. I would understand if he said... "Sorry, but I can only go by what the machine says.." He was flat out rude. Sad part is, the previous week, I went to put in $10 in gas and the girl accidentally put $20. I went back in after I finished pumping gas and gave them another $10 even though it wasn't my mistake. He thanked me then for being honest.
