We stopped to take a look at the still-in-use Mammoth Post Office, finished in 1938. (Jul 2026). It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for what they say is an unusual combination of a French Renaissance Revival high pitched roof and dormer style with flat symmetrical Moderne designs, the only post office in the western United States to merge these two styles. I am no architect, but it does have a quite stately look, using locally quarried sandstone and granite.
