I had a birthday gift shipped to my son via USPS on April 19th. On April 23rd tracking info stated they attempted to deliver but "addressee not found." The address is valid and I have mailed him many things to it. There was perfectly good access to the delivery location (a townhome). The package (Xbox) then sat at the post office until May 1st, at which point it was returned to sender. At no point did anyone attempt to deliver again after the 23rd or notify my son it needed to be picked up. When he did go to the post office, the postal worker was helpful and appeared frustrated with the situation as well but told him she didn't know why they didn't attempt delivery again or why there was any issue delivering to his address. I will not mail anything to him through USPS again. Unfortunately the store this was purchased from did not offer other options. Very disappointed. read more

I live at the Edison and the Post Office/Mail Carrier "lost" (delivered but didn't) 5 international packages out of 10 last year. It is now Feb. 2026 and have "lost" another one of my packages already. I rely on these packages for my engineering contracting and robotics company. It takes about 30 days from order to Bozeman P.O. (the black hole). When the package gets "lost" I have to wait about 45 days to get a replacement. And who is going to believe that I keep losing packages? read more

This post office does not deliver packages. Doesn't matter who it's from, they do not make any delivery attempts, do not notify us, they hold the package for pickup (I work full time during post office hours), and have threatened to return them to sender if we don't "pick them up on time". When we first moved into our address, they released a box full of held mail to us: the box included undelivered mail for 12 different people from up to 6 months prior, including medical and banking information. The office front is repeatedly left unmanned for several minutes at a time. Lines can last up to 40 minutes, which is ridiculous for a small office. Staff seems regularly confused and unsure of what they're doing. I do NOT trust this office with my mail. It is not worth the time and trouble they put their customers through, and they should be ashamed of how they treat people who rely on them, particularly during the holiday season. read more

I went here to ship a package at the self service machine, that went smoothly. I then found a card someone left behind at the kiosk. It was a debit card and I didn't just want to leave it out. I heard people talking in the back so I knocked on the door. I knocked on the door for a good ten minutes. They even made eye contact with me through the window and just rolled their eyes! It's only until I wouldn't leave that finally opened the door and I explained to them the situation and they were not apologetic. If I had an option for zero stars, it would be more accurate. I spend an hour or two every week standing in line to get my packages for both my home and business because the carrier will not deliver them. They just leave a note in my box, regardless of the size of the package. This puts a tremendous strain on the folks behind the counter that have to wait on all of us that don't receive deliveries. Everything about this Post Office needs to be improved , you guys can't deliver packages to the specified addresses, you guys are always pushing back delivery dates as if the package doesn't say it's been out for delivery for 2 days, and you guys just lack everything a functioning post office needs. After several late deliveries we decided to check on a package @ USPS on Baxter. USPS system showed package arriving on January 29th. The short lady at the counter said that they did not have package after looking at her computer. I questioned why would their online tracking system for customers say something different than the one she's looking at?? She was loudly insistent that the they didn't have the package and that "The Sender" has not sent the package yet... "Do you know how many people who come in here with those papers saying the package is here when it isn't!" I politely said thank you and left for the other USPS downtown to confirm what she was telling me. I arrived downtown to speak to a well mannered gentleman who looked at his computer and confirmed that my packages were here in Bozeman at the Baxter location. He said he was down at that location this morning and they haven't even sorted packages that arrived from the 27th due to short staffing. The little lady at Baxter could have told me that instead she insisted to make a cover up story whatever reason. People understand the difficulties in staffing during the past few years, what people aren't willing to accept is lies and incompetence in management letting this sort of customer service be tolerated. A year ago I purchased or rented a post office box from here. A year later I start getting packages from some other person. So I kept putting return to sender. Long story short, they rented out my mailbox to somebody else because they told me the wrong box number and they gave me the keys for the corresponding wrong box number a year before. I talked to the supervisor, they told me they would hold onto my mail and somebody would be in contact with me to find out what was going on. Instead they kept sending my mail back and nobody ever contacted me. I had to go in and talk to him to find out what was going on. Government efficiency at its best. Thankfully they don't have any post office boxes available right now and even if they did I cannot discourage you enough from not renting from them. What happen with my mailbox was their fault but they made it seem like it was mine. I know it's useless to complain about a government agency on yelp because they're never gonna make the service any better. I literally work in customer service in Bozeman and like to think I'm a champion for other front facing workers, but at least one of the ladies at the front desk at the Post Office does not deserve any praise and frankly gives the general public a reason to act nasty to the workers. For the past 6 months the post office has run me in loops. I receive a delivered notification for a package and don't see a key in my mailbox, wait long enough to give them the benefit of the doubt, then just finally to go into the warehouse on Baxter and they ask me my address and hand me the 4 packages I've been waiting for. Yet yesterday when I went in (for the same issue I have now experienced MULTIPLE TIMES) the lady meets me with the most condescending "well what made you think your package would be here? Sounds like you're waiting for something called a 'mailbox key'. You need to sign up for informed delivery then you can let us know when you actually have a package". Lady, I think my package is here because of history? Repetition? Because it has happened to me once a month and this isn't my first rodeo? Because my last 10 packages I've picked up from some poor soul at this front desk? I'm shocked she didn't recognize me. Jokes on her though, I do have informed delivery and it ALSO said "Delivered on Tuesday." Checked it everyday since Tuesday and NO KEY MAM. She would know this if she let me finish a single sentence before huffing off into the back room because she could barely be bothered to check and made it very clear I was wasting her time. I understand the Post Office is under a lot of pressure but understaffing or not, you don't get to be a condescending witch out the front door and talk to me like an idiot when guess what, I've already run my laps around and know how the bullcrap of the post office works. I do not recommend sending anything USPS, I would stick with fedex or ups, they have lost two of my packages now and when I try to go in and get help they are extremely rude.. the first package said it was to large to fit in my mail box which it was a small flat rate box, and the 2nd time they tried to deliver something they said they couldn't find my apartment, which is understandable but loosing my package I do not understand.. This office has a problem right now. My guess is that they are understaffed and it has compounded to the point of gross inefficiency for those remaining. I waited in a line of 10 to pick up my hold mail. There were two clerks and the people they were helping were not being helped as they never finished in the 25 minutes before I gave up and left. My wife returned in four hours and waited 25 minutes as well but finally got help. That happened because most of the 16 people in front of her gave up and left the line when one of the clerks noted in a loud discussion that all undelivered packages were in a big pile with no one to sort it. I did not catch her name, but the older woman working behind the counter is very rude. Not only did she answer every question with "I don't know" to the man ahead of me, but she was also very unhelpful. When I asked to ship out my box, she told me the box was the wrong one (even though I double checked after leaving and it was indeed the correct box). She did not even help me to try to find the so called correct box. Highly don't recommend coming here. We live in a house, our packages are left on our porch, there is no reason for this except for carelessness. They delivered 3/4 boxes! I guess the FedEx driver was too lazy to leave the fourth one that was confirmed to be on his truck! He also totally disregarded all the delivery instructions! I have waited almost a year and spent over 5k into this shipment, and the DRIVER decided not to leave it at my house. I have had to call 3xs in the last month asking for my packages. The carrier continues to mark my shipments as "delivered to mailbox", but they are never actually delivered to my mailbox. I'm so frustrated with this and the money I have lost on these packages. When calling the post office, all they say is "sorry, we can't find it, ask the place to send it to you again".
