I would like to take a moment to recognize Alonda Chambers for her outstanding customer service and dedication. I was expecting an important Amazon delivery that had not arrived as scheduled, and I urgently needed the item for a national conference I was attending. When I contacted USPS, I was told the post office opened at 8:00 a.m., but when I arrived, I learned the public window wouldn't open until 10:00 a.m., after carriers had already begun their routes. At that point, I was extremely concerned and unsure of what to do. While waiting, I noticed Ms. Chambers preparing the work and customer areas for the start of the day. I knocked on the glass, hoping she might be able to help or at least point me in the right direction. From the moment she came over, she was kind, attentive, and genuinely willing to assist. Ms. Chambers took the initiative to check on my situation and went above and beyond to see whether my package had already been loaded. Thanks to her effort, professionalism, and willingness to help, she was able to come through for me during a very stressful moment. Her actions made a real difference, and I am incredibly grateful for her support. Alonda Chambers is a true example of excellent service, and USPS is fortunate to have someone who represents the organization with such care, initiative, and professionalism. Thank you to the Passport postal worker today for one of the most unpleasant customer service experiences I've had in a long time. We were early for our appointment and waited 30 minutes to get to the window. Unfortunately, I was missing the back of our licenses. I told her we would make copies and come right back and wait w/out an appointment. Instead of working with us, she told me we would have to make a new appointment. I told her I took a personal day from school, and we really needed to do it today. Unfortunately she was just as rude when we got back. We ended up going to a post office in another town and getting them done. I know it's busy right now but it doesn't cost much to be nice. For the postal workers at the other location, it paid to be nice. We treated those employees to donuts and coffee for being helpful and kind. 5/13/2025 read more

I'm disgusted! It seems lately every time I come here there's a problem. After pulling up the Yelp page and seeing this establishment is literally rated 1 and 1/2 stars, you'd think they would do something about it. The last time I came here which was yesterday I passed by the self-service machine to get assistance from an attendant because the line at Self-Service was just too long. While assisting me, the attendant told me I could go to the self-serve in order to scan my packages. I explained to her that there was a line at self-serve; so she began to scan while telling me what was wrong with the way I put the label on the package. It seemed I just couldn't do anything right in her eyes. Okay fine, so I thanked her and got my receipt. My visit before this one, I attempted to get a money order but the attendant required to see my drivers license before she would give it to me. I have been living in this town for 20 years and coming to the post office equally as long. I have never had an issue with trying to get a money order nor have they ever asked to see my license except this one time so it was frustrating to say the least. I did not have my license on me so I had to go to another post office to get the money order. I went to Maplewood Post Office and had zero problems getting what I needed. Today I come here to Union Post Office to send off more packages. I go in and stand on line at the self serve only to find a man who is scanning about 20 packages. He turns around and says to me "I'm going to be a while" so I go to the attendant to be serviced. The attendant tells me to leave my packages at the window but when I ask for a receipt I am told "you can get a receipt from self-serve." I explain that I would have gone to self serve however the person there was going to take a very long time. The attended loudly exclaims "WHO????" I softly respond "the young man at the machine" She then scans my packages and gave me a receipt like it was such a hard chore. My question: Since when is Union post office directing all customers to the self-serve? I don't mind using it...in fact, I actually prefer self-service so I don't have to deal with their unprofessionalism and stank attitudes but if I decide to go to an attendant for whatever reason- shouldn't that be my right???? Dear Union post office employees, please get it together. To have a job is a blessing. To have a job in this economy is a God-sent and to have a job at the post office where you have great benefits, a paycheck and some job security is awesome! So why are y'all trying to give your job away to a machine? And why are y'all so dang rude? If the request to direct customers to the machine is coming from upper management I can understand to a certain degree but doesn't upper management require the attendants to be kind, professional and polite to the customers too? No I don't recommend coming here. I think I'll start using One of Union's other 2 post offices or I'll take the drive to a post office in another town. #ByeUnionPostOffice read more

I came here today around 11:30 am, i was trying to renew my passport. The clerk works in the window was very rude. She raised her voice by asking simple polite question. I did asked questions about renewing the passport and i asked her the same question to confirm. Then she raised her voice by telling me " YOU ARE NOT LISTENING"! I told her why you're yelling at me, I'm asking you simple polite question just to make sure. I do believe that where ever you work you need to be nice to all the peoples, specially for the person who works in public offices owned by peoples. This is ashamed knowing she works in federal government facilities owned by the peoples. Just to add to my reviews not all off them are rude in this post office. The rude lady who served me today, I believe she's Indian. Nothing against with Indian community because i have some Indian friends but they aren't like her. read more

I scheduled a passport application appointment twice at this location and the customer service is terrible. The first appointment we had to wait almost 20 min before being helped by anyone. And second appointment we scheduled we arrived 4 minutes late and DANELLE was extremely rude and did not want to help us since we had arrived 4 minutes past the time. As mentioned at a previous appointment we had to wait to be helped and only because we arrived 4 min late DANELLE was rude the entire time and seemed as she didn't want to help us. She had an attitude didn't seem like she wanted to give us any type of explanation when we asked any questions. Whoever is in charge needs to have some type of customer service training with the staff here because they need it! Not recommended. read more

Be ready to waste your time. The picture machine is never working so you have to go to Walgreens and waste more time. They need to remove that as part of their services because it's never available each time I go there. Spent 1h and 30 minutes and still haven't been served. A complete mess. I've had no major issues when coming here. I mean this is a busier location since it's the main one in Union. Sometimes there is a line but it always goes fast. While staff doesn't seem to be that happy - maybe because it's busy- no one has been outright rude to me. read more

They do not answer the phones here at this place of business for 30-40 minutes even if you called as soon as they open. Your tracking can show your package was delivered and yet it will still be At this post office and never delivered. They will tell you you can pay for it to be delivered in 2-3 business days but yet after you pay and begin to track package you will be told it can actually take up to 5 days. The customer representative was not able to assist me in no way and refused to hang up so I can answer a survey about her. When I asked for her to hang up so I complete the survey she placed me on hold instead. Obviously knowing she was not able to assist and had gave poor customer service. read more

I consistently get other peoples mail and when I put in a request to hold my mail they continue to deliver it. they will not answer the and phone the supervisor will not come and talk to you I am totally disgusted with this post office. If I could give this post office a zero that is what I am going to give. It was 4:45 pm, the 2 post office that I usually go to were already closed. I have several packages to be scanned, left my 2 young kids with my teenage daughter in the car. I never had any problem with the other 2 post offices that would gladly scan my packages in Union. But one of their workers in this branch and I am sure she is from India refused to scan my packages. She said to use the self serve scanner in which I already told her somebody was already using it. She asked me for the one label to use for the whole thing. I looked into my phone and couldn't find it it. I said I don't have it. She pointed her pen at me while talking and told her not to do that. She got mad and shoo me away and refused to give me her name. Goodluck asking for the supervisor I don't think they have one!!! It's not that hard to scan small boxes. There was a man already complaining to the other clerk next to me asking her why they can't just do their job. Very rude worker. I have several hardworking Indian friends please don't get me wrong.This is a job that serves the people and if you don't like your job give it to someone that needs it. The USPS.com "informed delivery" website showed that I was supposed to receive 5 pieces of mail today. When I only received two, I tried calling the Post Office to inquire about the discrepancy but was unable to get anyone to answer the phone. I tried multiple times, but each time, after 3 minutes of ringing, I was disconnected. read more

I don't know where to start. I live in Maplewood and the Maplewood post office is closed because the township is putting more high priced condos on that site. Anyway, that discussion is for a different day!! Let's just say the Union post office could care less if the residents of Maplewood receive their mail. I have not gotten mail for up to five days and then I'll get it all at once. Late fees on credit card bills, etc. and a lot of other problems are happening because I'm not receiving my mail on a daily basis. I've been to Union several times and every time the so called supervisor is never there. I've called only to get a voice mail and no call back. My next thing to do is to go to the mayors office. This has to be one of the worst post offices in the state. Possible even the country. Our mail carrier, Mel, is constantly misdelivering our letters and refuses to deliver any packages, claiming that they are all too large to deliver. He does not leave slips. Instead, you need to know that you were supposed to receive a package and then show up at the post office to start complaining until they find it. There have been times where I have had to go back and forth to the post office multiple times because they have claimed to have found my package or certified letter, then I get there and it is a different person who says that they now cannot find it. They are making my life hell. I've actually had the people behind the counter who, I complained to about him not delivering packages, tell me that I should just wait for Mel to retire and to give him a break and just expect that I need to pick packages up at the post office. I pleaded with Amazon to use a different carrier, which they are honoring now. But, it doesn't preclude my missing out on other non-Amazon packages. The worst thing has been the certified letters, which both contained large checks. How do they keep losing those!? They should shut down this entire location. They are useless. read more

Understaffed and rude. I waited in line like everyone else. Meanwhile the manager and some gentleman were screaming at each other off to the side. When I finally made it to the front the woman at the counter said, "Oh a passport? I'm the only one here you have to wait in the end of the line". Why would I wait when I ALREADY WAITED. Its not my fault... Nor was it hers. Management should give that lady some support and get more workers. You're the MAIN POST OFFICE IN TOWN how could y'all be so short staffed. This has to be the worst post office in the entire state, and nobody gives a spit about the problems! (I just saw another person's review from last year and- coincidentally- they wrote the same thing.) Why doesn't the government step in and REORGANIZE this motley crew??? I have had packages lost and never delivered; and a certified letter that was never even attempted delivery, and the Union post office redirected it BACK to the sender! I have had bills that were never received and that I never knew about until I received warning notices from the companies for nonpayment. We did have decent delivery, up until recently when they- yet again- took our postman off his route and put another person on. Now, we seem to have a different letter carrier daily, and they do not know what the hell they are doing! Now again, I write this out of frustration because I am waiting on a priority package that I paid an $8 shipping fee for, and these incompetents at the Union post office LOST the package! The tracking says it was delivered to the Union post office days ago and out for delivery, yet I never received the package. This was over THREE DAYS ago! Why did I pay $8 for the shipper to send it priority if these idiots can't do their job and deliver it on time? This is not the shipper's fault, but the UNION HORRIBLE POST OFFICE!!! PLEASE, I BEG anyone who has the authority to save the township of Union from this HORRIBLE, INCOMPETENT POST OFFICE!!!!!!!! PLEASE! Avoid at all costs. Understaffed, unprofessional, and seemingly incompetent. I needed to track a package that was handed over to USPS, but the clerk started asking ME of all people to convert the FedEx tracking number into a USPS one. I thought they already did that considering I was getting updates from them? Besides that, I have seen more than once, their mail trucks pulling out of the parking lot with the rear door open. Two weeks ago, when that happened, packages fell out onto West Chestnut Street. Yes, I ran across the road when it was safe to pick them up and take them inside. I didn't expect a thank you or any grateful gesture, because I sort of didn't expect one. (There wasn't one.) The clerk just said leave the boxes on the floor as if this were a regular occurance, and I could see the boxes STILL ON THE FLOOR as I drove out to go to class. If that doesn't tell you how lazy these guys are, just try having a package delivered through them. But on second thought, don't, because you might not get it. read more
