Gouging my eyes out with a dull spoon would be better than coming back to the Totowa Post Office. Their staff go above and beyond to ensure that the customer line moves as slowly as possible. In addition, their staff goes out of their way to be incredibly rude and unhelpful. Also, it seems that the staff is unfamiliar with pricing policies enacted by the USPS such that they charge for services that should be free i.e. requesting a receipt for dropping off a package. Go to the Little Falls Post Office instead. The LF post office is cleaner, quieter, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. read more

Terrible, i agree with fellow yelpers. they deserve 0 stars. unfortunately I have to deal with them when I pick up my packages. They constantly make up excuses why they cannot do something. They are always giving me a hard time with my identification; who else has the same name?? My regular carrier Alexis is great. She does a great job, but when she's not around they screw up and then when I go in person they always tell me the same thing...."the package is on the truck." The lady at the counter that has been there forever is always rude; but her job is civil service so its protected and she's not afraid of being fired. Any other employee who gives poor customer service would be let go. I use the same tactic where I kill them with kindness but that still doesn't work. read more

I think I was way too generous in my previous review. The Totowa Post Office does not deserve two stars. It does not even deserve one star, but Yelp will not allow anything less than one star. So that will have to suffice. I just returned from the Totowa Post Office and it was just the most trying experience. I went in with a simple mission, purchase a forever stamp to mail-in a rebate. The employee (or should I say the disgruntled employee?) gave me the stamp and told me my total was 49 cents. So far so good. I asked her if should could break a $100 bill, she scoffed at me. Okay, I get that it's a rather large bill, that's why I asked and didn't just hand it over. So, I pulled a $20 bill out of my wallet, and she scoffed at that too. Claiming that I would take all of her change. She told me to just pay with a credit card. I told her that I don't use credit cards for small purchases. So I handed over my smallest bill which was a $10 bill. She reluctantly accepted it and handed over my $9.51 change. This is where it went from bad to worse. I asked her to postmark my envelope as I was mailing a time-sensitive rebate. She flat out refused. She told me that the machines will stamp it when it gets processed. She also told me that they do not postmark anything unless it's certified. Well that's news to me and probably the rest of the world. In my previous review, I mention getting another rebate postmarked and they were able to accommodate me then at this same location. I also had all of my Bat Mitzvah and Wedding invitations hand postmarked. I said to her that I see the stamp on the counter. She said that it does not have the year. And I said, "Well, it does have the date, right?". Her response was yes, but she wouldn't do it. I told her I didn't care about the year, I just needed it to say "Jan 14th". Is that so much to ask for? And the other female employee at the new counter decided to chime in as well and offer her two cents. The employees were incredibly rude and nasty to me. This is not the way that your paying customers should be treated. If this post office wasn't literally just down the street from my office, I would never come here, but it's the only post office I can get to during business hours without taking a really long lunch. read more

Worst USPS! They are no help at all from the employees to the manager. When you complain to the manager he shows no care in the world. He's absolutely rude and should not deal with people. They charge you for even a piece of tape. If you don't want to ruin your day then don't even go here! read more

Older post office. No automated vending machines like some other places. Hours aren't that great either.

This is the worst post office I have been to in my entire life! Not exaggerating here. Go and find out for yourself. Dirty, disorganized, slow (worst than a turtle). Employees are upfront rude, especially the black fat lady who I think cant sing LOL is the rudest and should be terminated! I asked if I can borrow a pen and told me I should have a pen with me because all their pens are being stolen bec they keep lending it to customers! Wow! The manager is not of any help. My package was lost and talked to the manager over the phone for over an hour and called back more than ten times in a week and didn't get my issue resolved. Guess what?! my friends dad who works for another usps who is not even a manager was able to help me in less than an hour. The people there is not happy working and should have this branch CLOSED. I had so many bad experiences I cannot count anymore. They also steal your item when they know it is valuable. read more

African American lady behind the counter was rude had attitude.. Told me I would need to buy my own tape for the box of a small box, which I have never had a problem with before. Other post offices have always had duct tape sealing tape they provide free of charge. Why this lady was so adamant and therefore lost product when I walked out of the store without mailing, it is beyond me. I will hopefully never be back if I can help it. read more

The worst of the worst I know that post office workers aren't known for their speed and accuracy, but this location is the absolute worst. The people working behind the counter couldn't work any slower if they tried. Many times I have been in there and the line has literally been out the door. One day the line was long, the one man was helping a customer and had to leave is post to go in the back. The second worker, a older black female, finished with her customer. When the next person on line went to her counter she was told that she was closing. It must be nice to have a job that even when the line is out the door you can still close your line. Then for the next 20 minutes (I know because this is how long I waited on line) she SLOWLY appeared to be closing up her register. I swear if this woman worked any slower she would be moving back in time. I say automate the whole system and get rid of these overpaid sloths. read more

At least ten times I received mail that had been addressed to many of my neighbors. That is not an exaggeration. They repeatedly gave the same weak excuse. They said "it's not the usual carrier". That is unacceptable. They are still putting clearly addressed envelopes in marked boxes. I can't believe they now open at 1000am. read more

Trust me, if I was allowed leave 0 stars, I would. Coming to the Totowa Post Office makes going to the DMV seem like a fun getaway. It's disgusting how rude these employees are to customers. And God forbid we send in complaints, then we get rude voicemails on our phones and even worse customer service, if possible. The only employee who actually tries to accommodate customers is the Indian gentleman. Everyone else in there is rude, rude, rude!! I have packages that have not been forwarded to my new address, and are just sitting in their post office. But when I call to inquire about them I'm told they cannot be located. This is competely unacceptable and it's a shame that these people are protected from losing their jobs! read more

if when i die, i deserve to go to hell... just send me to spend eternity in the totowa post office!!! this place is miserable, as are the employees. i don't mind waiting my turn, but to have to wait amble amount of time just to get treated rudely is uncalled for. i went to pick up a package (bc my tracking told me i wasn't home when it was delivered and it had to be picked up). well, i was home, but they didn't bother walking it to the door. the package wasn't there, but nasty attitudes certainly were. they said it was on the truck... why, I have no clue because it said to pick it up!!! i paid extra for 2nd day priority mail and it also didn't arrive today (as they told me at the post office it would). complaining to the manager doesn't help. after asking why it would tell me to pick up the package and waste my time if it wasn't there, i was told i was wasting her time... along with other things that if i said to customers i would be fired on the spot for! read more

If i could give no stars, I would. 1 star is even too generous. There are several things wrong with this facility. Firstly, they are sometimes out of stamps. Thats not even the worst of it. I was once told to get a scale to weigh my own packages because it was "too much work" for them to do it. Why would I get a scale when there is a perfectly good one at the post office? it is upsetting that this post office is so close to my home. I have vowed to never step foot in that place again. Go to the Little Falls one instead. Its a few more miles away but the staff is friendly and actually does their job. read more

After multiple requests to have first class mail forwarded, it still is not being done. They don't answer the phone when you call. This Post Master needs to be replaced. read more
