If there's a US governmental agency that needs a complete overhaul it's the US postal service. And while I haven't seen a friendly or efficient post office in years, the location on Chestnut Expressway is THE WORST. Every clerk appears to be a charter member of the Sourpuss Society and if you need anything but stamps or to mail a letter (neither of which requires a person), you're screwed. I frequently drop packages at the UPS Store and FedEx, and the employees are courteous, friendly and helpful. Maybe the post office posse can sign up for some training in customer service. read more

Signed up for text alerts but nothing comes through - their suggestion? Pay for the USPS Tracking Plus that you have to pay for. Shouldn't tracking be tracking??? Very poor service. I asked an employee where the manager was so I could discuss a package they had lost. She didn't raise her head and said "I don't know where he is". It just so happens he was standing directly behind her. I would rather deal with DMV than the USPS. The package was never found within there system. read more

if there were a negative rating I would give it! I sent a package for delivery within Springfield hoping that it would be delivered before Christmas. I mailed it from Texas on December 16....it arrived in Springfield late but has been sitting in the distribution center for well over a week. I'm trying to set up a new mailbox in the 65802 area. I have called three Post Office phone numbers trying to reach someone who can assist with were to place the mailbox. One must listen to the entire automated message in order to "stay on the line and our next representative will assist you." Eventually, the call either gets disconnected or goes to a busy signal. read more

This is the worse post office in the USA. When they don't want to deal with you they take the phones off the hook and close the doors. This is the most incompetent post office. It's unbelievable how nobody can see a package in plain sight to be picked up. The woman I spoke with named Jennifer Rhodes is one of the rudest people ever. She wanted to argue with me. I thought customer service was there to fix the problem. I have scheduled two different pickups for the package I am talking about. You have to be blind not to have seen it on my porch but the person on this route must have some kind of sight issue. Supposedly he called her while here and she said she couldn't see it either. Well, no kidding! She wasn't here to actually see what the situation was like. It's not like it was hidden. This is the second time this has happened this month. The first time was July 3rd then today July 19th. It's pretty sad when a person can't do his or her job properly. I miss the days when the customer mattered and people actually wanted to do their job. The Post Master needs to get this place under control. Obviously, some people need to lose their jobs or be demoted and they need to get someone in there that is competent. . The experience I had at the US Post Office on West Chestnut Expressway, yesterday seems eerily similar to the one Shane A. described in another post. What happened to me was nothing but pure, intentional harassment. I went in to rent a PO box. After standing in line at LEAST 15 minutes, the woman who was supposed to be helping me (middle-aged, white female, slender build, shoulder-length bleached blonde hair & glasses) was obnoxious to the hilt. She argued with every single thing I said and was doing her best to keep me from being able to do what I needed to. She needed 2 forms of ID. No problem there. But then she said both had to have proof of my current physical address. I know that's not true because I've done work with homeless people and know that some of them have rented PO boxes while they were homeless. Next she tried to tell me she couldn't accept my current Missouri Driver's License as a form of ID even though it had my current address. She eventually decided to comply with the law and accept it. We went on for several minutes, with her being antagonistic every time something was said. Eventually she got to the part of my application with my name. I had written a previous last name in parenthesis because it's not my legal name anymore but sometimes my mail is still addressed to my former name. She told me that unless I could show her proof that my former name had once been my legal name, if any mail was sent to me with my former name they would refuse to deliver it to my PO box. I produced a credit card and a AAA card that both still had my old name. She wouldn't accept either. I had had enough. I'm all for supporting the US Postal Service but I'm not fond of personal abuse and it was clear this woman didn't want to do her job and did want to upset customers just for spite. I left without renting the mailbox. They're so slow that I wasted almost 45 minutes in the lobby and that's not counting the time it took me to drive there and back. read more

I come here about once a week. Most the staff is very helpful, and extremely friendly. But others are rude, and cold. I have been into the office on a Monday morning when it was dead, and there was 4 tellers working. Didn't even really wait in line. But if you go in around lunch time, or on the weekends. You will find 3 people up front 2 of them will have "next window signs." So basically there is 1 teller to help usually 10 or more people in line. The last time I was in there was 3 tellers working. "This was around noon" the line was moving okay. There was around 7 of us in line. Then one teller decided to up, and go on break. While the other decided to close her lane, and start doing certified letters... Once I got closer to the front I asked the clerk doing the letters if they could possibly open another window? Her reply was; Ummm I'm pretty busy doing these letters so I can't help you. Someone will be back soon, so you're just gonna have to wait.... Another time I was in I didn't have enough cash to cover the amount, so I whip out the new credit card.. The teller looks at me, and says; it's not signed on the back. To which I reply; oh sorry just got it here's my ID... She retorts; I can't take it; it's not signed... I said okay I can sign it real quick. She said; no you can't sign it in front of me, and now you can't use it today... What? First off if you're an expert in signatures you would be able to compare my license, and signature... Secondly just having an ID with my picture, and signature on it should have sufficed.. In conclusion if you're not a private organization, and your check comes from tax payers. Then the public should be your main concern, and not your personal problems.. read more

This is the largest post office in Springfield. The line is always long, but generally runs efficiently - particularly for a post office. This location has one of the automated postal centers where you can weigh and ship your own packages. Yeah!!! You can just use the kiosk in the lobby rather than wait in line on most items. If I could leave this place no stars I would but obviously they require some sort of star so one, you get one! I cannot stress enough how bad this place is to work for, this is the lowest of the low, the garbage center of all that is unholy. Almost everyone in charge is a soulless moron and the employees are not much better. I could probably count on one hand how many good people are there the rest are garbage. When you are hired you are not hired as a "full-time employee", that's a position you have to earn. You're put on a waiting list, the people that have been there longer have first dibs on being full-time or "permanent". You can be on this list for years, my husband was with this place for three years and never was made full-time even though he worked 12 hour shifts five days a week overnight. He pulled them out of SO many messes, did the job of three or more people a night, and for what? Not even a genuine thank you! It was disgusting. They will overwork you and not give a crap about you. The reason they can get away with half the crap they do to their employees is because they're not full-time and therefore if they are fired cannot collect unemployment. Sounds super shady and illegal right? Apparently it's not. Now I'm not saying all Postal Services are horrible, I'm sure there's some good ones out there. But this specific place, off of Chestnut in Springfield is a soul sucking hell hole that needs to go out of business. And don't even get me started on the "benefits" they offer. This Post Office provides a comprehensive list of services. I recently applied for a passport at this location. This location does have an onsite photography center for your passport photo, however this cost 15.00, which is expensive compared to getting your picture taken at another business. The passport process took forever! I had to wait behind a very long line of customers and the staff was very slow. The employee rolled around on her computer chair to get to and from locations in the office. She appeared to be thorough but had no tendency to be quick in assisting customers. She was friendly to some of the customers, however others, she made sarcastic remarks to and I was unsure which side of her personality I would undergo. read more

This is for the US Mailing as a whole. Here lately the whole USPO has been doing horrible as a whole. I mailed a birthday card to my niece the last week of September and here it is the middle week of October and she still hasn't gotten it and she only lives 8 hours away! I also mailed my house payment 9 days before the late payment due date and usually it goes through within 4-5 days after I mail it off but they said they never received it so I had to cancel the check and pay over the phone which they charged me 5 bucks for that and the bank charged me 35 dollars to cancel a check. So I am out $40.00 dollars cause I thought your company could deliver a letter. Well I am done all together with the post office and will never be sending a letter or anything ever again. I work with customers all day long at my job and do my best to make them happy but since I guess you think you are just government employees the hard working people don't matter! read more
