The carrier forced a package into our mailbox, damaging & bending the box. Obviously done on purpose, as she is too lazy to spend an extra 5 minute round trip and drop the package off at our house. This isn't the first time she has damaged our mailbox. When my husband drove over to the Post Office to tell the Post Master, he said he'd "look into it" --which means nothing will be done. Plus we are now stuck to try to find someone to repair our mailbox. I now request senders to use UPS or FedEx, if possible. read more

I put 3 envelopes that were payments for bills in the post office on May 11th and today May 22 they have not arrived and now my bills are late and I will have to put stop payment on bills so I can figure out a way to get these timely bills paid as they will be considered "LATE" by tomorrow. This post office gets a huge thumbs down. I arrived with several packages and envelopes in hand, waited online and was turned away without being given service because it was 5 PM! I have never heard of a postal customer being sent away without being served if they were already inside at the time. I just noticed that this review shows up under US post office. There is something rotten happening at the Saugerties post office. Since moving into town, I have had certified letters never show up and disappear in their offices. When complained about, nothing was done. I've had mail carrier lie about someone signing for things only for no one to ever sign for them... and for them to be dropped off anyway. When complained about, the person on the phone was dismissive and condescending. It feels like everyone in town has a story of an important package or letter that was "dropped off" when it wasn't or disappeared in their office. As the play says, "Something is rotten in Denmark." I'm working with the national post office now to try to get a proper investigation launched. Do NOT trust anything important, valuable, or anything that needs to be signed for to be handled by this post office because you'll either never see it or they'll lie about delivery or they'll sign for you and stuff it in your mailbox. Mail package trucks were out on our street on Easter Sunday... what? Why on earth would USPS be working on Easter Sunday? There is something rotten happening in Saugerties at the post office and I truly hope those responsible for it get their just compupance. read more

Such nice people here. Everyone at the postoffice seems to go out of their way for you. I don't understand the negative reviews. I have had my Passport photo taken here, seamlessly. This post office is very inefficient. We had to pay for a post office box because they refused to deliver mail to our house. We lived on a paved road, but were the only house on that road 1/4 of a mile from their route. We asked them to not charge us they said they would look into it and never did. We recently moved and they were supposed to forward our mail as of Dec 29th. We did not receive any mail and finally called them on Jan 10th to find out where our mail was. We were told they didn't start forwarding the mail until the 9th of Jan. Why they waited 12 days from the date requested I do not know and no explanation was given. We are still waiting for mail. Very poor service. read more

This post office has a very obnoxious and rude postmaster by the name of Greg Wright. Different people there give you different information. For instance, I had a passport picture taken there. I paid the $15 and took the picture. It was a terrible picture. Many people told me that you don't have to take a picture that you don't like and that they are supposed to show it to you before they print it for approval. I didn't want to go back and get another one and pay another $15. So I went to make another appointment (they make you make an appointment even though it doesn't take long and it's not busy). When I did I checked beforehand about the re-do. I was again told that you are supposed to be shown the photo for your approval and you can do a re-do. They said I should bring the receipt to prove I had the photo taken there. Luckily I found the receipt. I made another appointment. That was today. In fact the person wrote down the wrong day for the appointment as yesterday. They didn't believe me about that either. I went today at 1:30. They took the photo showing me the first one and the postal worker saying I wouldn't want that one. So she took another. That one was fine, we both agreed. It doesn't cost anything to take the photo. She printed it out. It looked fine. Then she wouldn't give it to me until I paid another $15 which I refused to do. I'd already checked to see what the deal was and that wasn't it. She went and got the Postmaster. He turned out to be an abusive type of person who just kept repeating the same thing and telling me what I experienced didn't happen and no one told me that I could have the photograph redone unless it was refused by the State department. This was not the information I received that I carefully sought out and checked beforehand. He continued repeating himself. Then he told me to stop and to leave his building. It's not his building. It belongs to the citizens. Then as I was leaving he shouted out to have a nice day. It was sarcastic and I told him not to say that because it was not coming from his heart. They would not give me the photograph that was redone. read more

This place is okay when your go in person but not over the phone. Except for a woman named Rochelle who works there. She's unprofessional and not the brightest ball in the bunch. And very aggressive, rude drivers in the parking lot. Be careful going in and out of there. I was nice enough to hold the doors open for a woman. Then a few minutes later she almost plowed into my car then kept beeping at me. Even though I held two doors open for her. Then I had my car door open on a hot day. And a woman wanted to park exactly next to me evn though there were more that ten empty other spots. But she kept shaking her head at me and giving me dirty looks for some odd reason. Then this hippy looking guy defused to hold the door for me. It almost slammed in my face. Then he wanted to back up before me. Even though I already started backing up before him. He refused to let me back up. I think he'd rather hit my car first. Very strange people in this area. Overall, not that friendly and very aggressive. read more
