The post office on West Steuben st 15205 is the absolute worst. I'm a senior and when I want a package sent, I but a prepaid label , the mailman takes it. It's processed and DELIVERED on time. 2 times missed the mailman. So I took it to thos Post office. First time they couldn't find it. It wasn't a small package , it was 45 inches long. They finally delivered it two weeks later. This time, again they can't find it....I was going to pay extra and use UPS. But I couldn't make it to the store. This location is the luck of the draw every time I walk in. I tend to gravitate here because I work in Parkway Center, so it just makes sense. However, it seems like every time I go they are closed/on break/computer problems. They also never answer the phone. Once when they were having computer issues and locked the doors, I called several times throughout the day to see if their systems were back up so I could get something mailed. No answer, just ringing ringing ringing. Or if you're lucky, the line is busy and you can immediately hang up. If you are lucky enough to catch the doors unlocked and someone behind the counter, the woman has always been very nice and helpful to me. It seems she is their only employee because I have never seen anyone else, and I have come at several different times of the day. I don't expect much from the post office but this one seems to be a constant headache. read more

Ugh. I concur with everyone else: this branch of the Post Office highlights exactly why the Postal Service has a bad reputation. I ended up coming here last week when the delivery team defeated the purpose of my two-day Amazon shipping by saying they couldn't deliver it, and, well, not delivering it for a couple days. For the record: large packages are left on my porch on a daily basis. And my porch is a whole two steps up from the sidewalk, and is never blocked off. So I was already calling nonsense on this situation from the start. No mail on Sunday meant that I ended up stopping in on a Monday, since my Amazon account eventually updated my package to "Ready For Pickup." This unnecessary day was frustrating enough. Now imagine my additional frustration when, after already having an important package delayed by a number of days, I was told that my package was put back onto the truck that morning. Why? I still don't know why, seeing as my package was listed as a pick-up item at that point. And I'm pretty sure it hadn't been dropped off for at least two delivery days at that point. By the way, the bonus to this situation was that the woman at the front desk had turned down the office phone so that we could barely hear it ringing as she talked to the line of people physically entering the building. She did take a call on her cell, though, for what sounded like an office management conversation. That's why another reviewer couldn't get someone to answer the phone, I would bet. This is not the first time the delivery team has given my building trouble, either, although this incident did not do them any favors. Late last year a friend in my building and myself actually had to tape signs to our mailboxes that say "Place Mail Inside." Because in September the people delivering our mail began leaving it on top of the mailboxes themselves. Obviously large packages can go on the porch, but, um...in rainy and windy Pittsburgh, putting our envelopes in a dry, secure space is kind of a must. It's also a basic part of mail delivery. We shouldn't even NEED those signs in the first place. Anyway. I ended up getting my mail (finally, after staying home from work for a morning to pick it up because I was told to), but who knows what else is getting to me late these days. A bad delivery team and badly staffed main office mean that I will not be sad when I am not at this branch's mercy. They're the only thing I hate about the area I've moved to. And after reading these other reviews, they're the reason I'll be looking into going paperless as much as possible with my bank and card statements in the near future. read more

If I could give a zero rating I would. I moved to Green Tree in October. Since then we have had lost mail, packages delivered to wrong houses, and very unfriendly postal workers. I have had to have numerous conversations with postal workers about "walking through my garden". Train your people better! How lazy to walk through someone's garden then around. More often than should be ok their carriers deliver packages to the incorrect address. You then have to follow up with them repeatedly trying to find where your package is to no avail. They never answer their phones so you have to drive there in person. It's a huge inconvenience and they provide no resolution when in fact it's their employee's fault your packages are missing in the first place. read more

We are a small business and ship/receive around 125-150 pieces a week. By no means are we a "big" mailer, but definitely not something that you can casually drop in a blue bin on your way to the store either. We use traditional mail tubs for most of our outgoing as many mailers of all sizes do. Walking into a retail location with a tub full of items can cause a disturbance among employees and others in the location. Over the years I've asked what the best ways are to make the process as easy and smooth for them and their customers as possible. I am glad to go out of my way or ask my associates to do the same to accommodate you. The glares, offhand comments, and even eye rolls, sighs, or exclamations that seem to inevitably follow walking into a retail location with a single tub, much less two or more are transparently unprofessional, but most did their job, even if it was reluctantly at times. It's been ~50/50 on the hundreds of post offices I've been to in 7 states across more than a decade of owning small businesses. Some are courteous, ask if they can get me anything (and mean it), and make conversation while, for instance, scanning in orders that we weren't able to make a manifest for. Many are condescending, presumptuous, and ill-informed. The rest do their jobs without putting up a fuss and without making my trip to the PO a Happy Time 5-star wowee experience; which is fine. That's all I can ask for and expect. With that backdrop, we recently moved to the area, and have now been to this specific location a handful of times. I was surprised at the mix of experiences I have had. The first time my company dropped mail here an associate went. They were told *not* to come in the front with MTE because it was "*not* a normal retail location" and that someone only comes out "once every 15 minutes to check" The second time I went myself, wanting to ensure there were no issues, or, if there were, that I knew exactly what we needed to do differently to accommodate the employees. I was casually told by an individual who appeared to be a USPS employee that I could "just put it on any cart over there" with other outgoing MTE waiting to be loaded. The third time I went, I wanted a more "official" answer so I talked with an individual who appeared to be the floor manager for several minutes. She told me anywhere inside the drop-off area was fine & to take whatever MTE I needed. She also told me what I ought to do with different amounts and types of mail we deal with. Satisfied, I went back the fourth time only because it fit with my schedule, dropped 2x MTE on a partially loaded cart, and grabbed the same empty on my way out. I saw and was seen by a few people doing their jobs and wasn't approached by anyone nor was a single word said to me, even after making a second trip to the car and back. The fifth time I asked the same associate from earlier to drop off the mail - letting them know what I had been told - by the manager I remind you. Effectively, put it anywhere that makes sense, and that I/we could grab whatever MTE we needed as long as it was in a stack of empties. My associate was run off being told it was "ILLEGAL" for them even to be back there, much less allowed to drop off mail there! To be clear about my last statement. That employee refused to accept the MTE... Not to even go into the inappropriateness of the reaction and subsequent contact with my associate at an individual level, this disservice is completely unacceptable professionally. The associate called to relay that they were told we couldn't drop off in the back and that they were told it was "illegal" to even be in the parking lot unless they/we were an employee of the USPS. I was surprised, shocked really. It's ridiculous that the training on the regulations could be so unclear that you can have two different people, in two separate instances, say to 1. This post office is not the best, good, average, it is very very poor. You cannot get in contact with anyone because they NEVER answer the phone. When you go there they treat you like your bothering them. The left hand doesn't know what the right is doing. If at all possible avoid and go with a private carrier. Quick example what I faced I had a package delivered to me for whatever reason instead of the package being delivered to me they delivered it to this post office. I tried calling them for 2 days and no one EVER answered the phone. I called the customer care for USPS(1HR 23MIN WAIT BY THE WAY) they told me the package was at this location, mind you this is an hour drive, I was assured the package was there. I drove out explain to clerk what was going on she looked for the package for maybe 3-4 mins came back gave me the shoulder shrug said "it's not here" I explained I was on the phone with Customer Care, to which she responded "they dont know what they are talking about" Tried to explain mam I drove a long way would you mind checking again, which she didn't simply told me to file a claim, I asked how I can do that I was told to "look it up on the internet" Can't tell how frustrating and rude and unprofessional this lady was. Whoever coined the phrase "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds" certainly didn't have the modern day post office in mind. For the last 3 business days there has been no mail to anyone on my entire street! Give me a break please! This is tax season and many of us are awaiting those dreaded 1099s not to mention W-2s. So I went over there to find out what was wrong. The clerk who waited on me told me she had no idea but if I would leave my name address and phone number someone would get back to me. I was also told to leave the street name where our service had temporarily disappeared. I received no callback as I figured but later on I did find some mail in my box. Some of these letters were at least 3 days old. Granted, I gave some leeway to the blizzard however, that does not explain why on perfectly normal travel days why no one on my street would have not received mail. I am now in the process of trying to change whatever billing I can to online statements. Although some institutions will not permit me to do this they did say that I may make payment online for a minimal fee. read more

I am completed to downgrade my review. after dealing with multiple missed deliveries and working with both the borough and the county were I live to get my address and street name change to accurately reflect where my home is located and finally after months of jumping through hoops I am told by the USPS that all is good and my official address designation has been changed and that I need to file a routine change of address for my mail. I do so and they get it wrong, they change my address to a different location and address that will now have ALL ( not just some) of my mail being delivered to the wrong location. This is despite my being very careful to get my new address entered correctly. I have now spend at leat 90 minutes of my time just trying to contact the post master by phone and no one even answers the phone at the GreenTree post office. After at least 15-20 attempted calls and allowing the number to ring until the call times out and disconnects over the last day and a half. I simply cannot believe the level of incompetence and unresponsiveness from the USPS and the people at the Green Tree office. The postmaster should be fired and everyone who works there should be put on notice! read more

I will be honest. I typically have such a difficult time with this post office. They mis-deliver my mail and packages consistently (I'm unsure if it's the fault of the carriers or the sorting process). However, I have to give this positive review from my experience today. I was having problems with a package delivery. I spoke on the phone with a gentleman named Ryan. He was WONDERFUL. 1. He actually answered the phone. 2. He was so pleasant and tried so hard to get to the bottom of figuring out what happened to my package. 3. Once he realized they had it there, he apologized that it was mis-sorted. He hand placed it in the correct bin for delivery to me the next day. He was pleasant the entire time. He made sure he got me an answer and he apologized that it was their mistake. I sincerely hope that they treat this guy well at this place because he does his job and he does it well! He's the kind of person that needs to be working there to turn that place around!
