LOCAL REVIEW: It has been a long time since I have sent a package (that isn't an Amazon return)…read more The drive to this USPS takes you through the charming homes of Gotha. It was an enjoyable drive (and located nearby Yellow Dog Eats if you want lunch while running errands). The building looked like the kind of USPS you'd find in a small town Hallmark movie. There was plenty of parking. It was pretty standard on the inside. There are packaging supplies available along with cards and gift cards. The employee and his manager were both really nice people. I can't remember the employee's name, but he is bilingual. He was patient with my questions and I appreciated that he didn't toss my package into the pile (like I have seen in other mail carriers locations). I was also pleasantly surprised to see it wasn't as costly as I thought to ship my package! I'm glad that this is now my closest USPS and can count on an enjoyable experience for my future visits.

The most I've waited is 5-10mins max and that's because there were 5-7 people in front of me, normally I walk in and out pretty quickly. It's a delight to go there everyone is pleasant and attentive. VERY HAPPY WITH MY NEIGHBORHOOD USPS TEAM!

How do you rate a post office? Its tough because the atmosphere, experience and situations are…read moredifferent each time you walk in ... especially with this post office. This is my neighborhood post office and when I come here, I never know what I'm walking in to. As to be expected, there is sometimes a line out the door and there might be two workers on duty and the "desks" in the main room. Sometimes you walk in and there are only a couple of people in line and there are three people working at the "desks." Its very inconsistent, but alas, its the post office. What does seem to be consistent however, is the lack of polite human interaction at these desks. I've tried approaching with a smile, I've tried approaching with a serious face, I've tried it all and each time I'm greeted with the notion that I'm somehow bothering the folks at the "desks" with my postage needs. I want to bow and apologize for my presence when I leave. Its that weird. Sometimes they have a manager in the main room when there is a large line to help with questions, etc. This is also a hit or miss experience. Depending on who the manager is that day, you may be helped by this person or not. One day I just needed a non-flat rate box and the manager sent me to stand in another line in the lobby. He proceeded to help everyone else in line. I just needed a box! Geeeeeeesh. So, with the main room where the transactions with humans take place, take a deep breath and hope for the best. Now, if you happen to have an issue that requires you talk to the help window in the lobby (no transactions here ... only at the machine next to the window), you will most likely have a very slow but a better experience. I've had to go to this window for boxes, missing mail and other issues and the two ladies to work this window are fantastic. You will wait here as they are dealing with bigger issues rather than what is happening in the main room, but at least they are helpful and polite. I've also had a great experience renewing my passport with the lady in that office. She was extremely patient with me and helpful when I didn't have all of my information. So, its a mixed review here. My advice is, if you can, just do most of your mailing online ... (if not in a rush) ... you can order boxes, print postage, schedule a pick up, etc. You also have the option to purchase postage at the big machine in the front lobby. It will save you time and stress.

I plan on filing a police report on Monday and follow up for the theft of Mail with the government. I am sure it is not only me that has had this issue at this location.

With a little bit of research, I learned that this branch is "a historic landmark designed by Louis Simon in a Northern Italian Palazzo Revival style." It opened in the early 1940s, and its dawns GRAND features, like high ceilings, marble flooring, ornate bronze doors, bronze lock boxes, and many other unique features that brings it its character. It serves as both a post office and a hub for the Catholic Diocese. As it relates to me, it is walkable from my job - so on days when the weather is nice, I opted to walk. When I don't walk, I drive and they have a limited amount of parking but there is parking available on the street and surrounding areas. The wait is usually not too bad - unless you are going during peak hours. The staff is nice and helpful. They usually have everything I am looking for with the exception of some speciality box sizes - which can simply be secured via their website. The price is the price! We already know how hard our US postal workers have to work, so I patron the postal office as much as I possibly can.
