It's hard to give more than 3 stars when they cannot consistently perform the basic function they are tasked with - delivering the mail. The people that work there are very nice and attentive, especially the postmaster at this branch. However, at least once a week and sometimes more, I get someone else's mail. It's usually for the house after mine. No idea why this keeps happening. I see them reaching into a tray and grabbing what appears to be a pre-bundled pack of mail and putting in my box. When I go through it, yup, my neighbor's mail mixed with mine. I used to deliver it to them myself but started putting it back in my box with the flag up. Sometimes I leave a note ("Wrong house") and sometimes I just put it back in my box and the next day's carrier hopefully understands why. But even that doesn't work. Next day, wrong mail, again! Of course it makes me wonder who is getting my mail. read more

Always crowded, never enough assistants, rude workers, stupid rules about the line.... Need I say more?

This post office needs to be investigated. My mother regularly sends out holiday and birthday cards to kids and grandkids from the Olney Post Office and countless numbers of envelopes have arrived at their destination after having been opened and cash removed. These cards are being mailed to addresses in MD, VA, SC, NC, FL, and AZ, and the same thing has happened...all with one common denominator. They were mailed from the Olney Post office. Yes, I know, I know...you are not supposed to send cash in the mail. But that does not excuse the absolute disgusting behavior of the thieves or the felony that is being committed by clearly someone who works for the United States Postal Service. It cannot be a coincidence that it has happened over and over again with all mailings initiated at this post office. Despicable. read more

The local post office in my home town of Olney. It's still the same after some 25 years. Going at off-peak hours is always smart at any post office (avoid noon to 1, right when they open, and right when they close), and this is no exception. I had a large package to mail that was already prepaid and just needed a handoff. There aren't very many parking spots out front but I didn't have any problem. The interior is small, and half othe building is two aisles of PO boxes--what you see when you first walk in. The service during my visit was quick, with no wait in line, several clerks helping customers, and swift customer transactions. read more

There's this AA lady there who is just loud, rude and obnoxious! I cannot stand her. you will know her: she's the loudest, rudest attendant! guess she has to pretend she's powerful bc that's all she has going for her. The UPS delivery truck that was bringing my order put it at the wrong house. It was a very expensive piece of tech, and I was running up and down the street trying to find it. A man from the USPS truck saw me, asked if I was looking for a package, and gave me my missing item. He said he saw the ups truck put it at the wrong house and was bringing it up to me. I cannot begin to express how grateful I am for this unbelievable level of customer service to someone who wasnt even a customer this time. I was so dizzy with relief I forgot to ask the man's name, but I do hope he sees this review, because I am so grateful to him and frankly he deserves a raise. read more

I do EDDM. This Post office works different to the other I had been. I just bring the bundles separate by routes to the main desk, then I Paid and they do the work. But here it goes like this I already have it in bundles of 100. And separated by routes. ( 9 routes ) They told me to place it on in separate of those big mail plastic boxes. One box per route . Then i brought to big boxes to the desk. I paid Then they told me to bring it behind the door where the redirect/split the mail. The only thing left was to load the boxes to the car. I was expecting them to tell me to load it in their car, and then drive the car through the route and do the job by my self and pay then for nothing. We've only lived here since April and only have a 33% success rate of having small parcels (can easily fit inside the mailbox) delivered. This is the forth time the mail carrier seems to disregard the house number and/or street name and just leaves it at another home. When I call, the staff seem friendly and understanding and tries to locate and properly deliver the package, but it still takes many days and phone calls to finally get the package. read more

I work in the area and when I send out of town mail from this location it gets to my home town quickly. I don't know about the other reviews but my experience at this post office is always pleasant. Bad reviews don't do this post office justice because the staff have been nothing but friendly each and every time I visit. read more

I have had issues at this post office quite a few times and therefore have to go out of my way to not use them. It is a huge inconvenience to the community as their staff is rude and lazy at times. I live in Brookeville and my go to post office is the Brookeville Post Office and I love the service I receive there. They are friendly, quick and they know what they are doing. I have to say the last 3 visits to the Olney post office in the past couple of weeks, there was a problem each time. My last visit there I came in with a box priority mail pre-paid (keep in mind this is for my online business and I have been sending out these exact same boxes with same labels for over 6years now at least twice a week) and the lady at counter said she cannot send it out because its in a medium box and it needs to be in a small box. I told her it does not fit in the small box and that I was there 2days earlier and they sent the same box out no problem. She got a co-worker who is really mouthy with her comments to intervene and she told me she cannot send it out because label does not say flat rate. So I asked for the manager and he told me he would go check (shouldn't you already know if your the manager) literally 15min of standing at counter later, he comes back out and says he has investigated and called headquarters and its not possible. I told him to just scan it and see that it will be fine. He refused. I drove 20min back towards my house to go to the Brookeville post office and even filmed a video to prove my point...went inside -they welcomed me with a smile took my package scanned it and off I went on my way. Two days earlier I had dropped the same kind of box with same label (same business) at the Olney post office and they took it however the man who helped me was so rude and inconsiderate. He could not get the label to scan on his half a** attempt and I tried to tell him he has to get closer and try a couple of times (because I know the process since I send the same label out every other day) but he would not let me finish a sentence to save my life..he kept cutting me off in an argumentative voice saying stuff like "IT CANT BE SCANNED" and "I think I would know better than you" etc. I know the label would scan..he just did not scan it right-i watched him. Other experiences here consisted of very rude staff, no service with a smile but with attitude and issues every time. The staff at this location is a huge inconvenience to the Olney community in which I have resided near most of my life. Twice I walked in to see the manager arguing with another customer in a rude manner in the past. These reviews never change anything for the better though. I can only hope USPS will read this and make some changes. read more

Considering this is a small local post office I think they do a good job. All of the staff I have dealt with have been friendly and professional except for one woman. Unfortunately most of the customers that go in there regularly and know who she is because she is often loud and rude. I was shocked today that she raised her voice and treated one of the customers badly in front of everyone. This person needs to be removed from her position because she is obviously not capable of servicing the public and a professional an appropriate manner. read more

This is not the first time I have had a lousy experience at this location, but I just went in to drop off 3 packages and had a very cranky gentleman and rude staff member by the name of "Miss Jay" go on a total power trip over an address label. Even after changing the darn label to something different, the man continued to scold me over an address label! For heaven's sake! We live in a friendly community with so many wonderful families, neighbors and small businesses who need to use this facility to ship packages. Why can't their staff just be pleasant and kind? read more

I went on a Saturday with a package boxed up and a pre-paid label. It was my turn to be helped and the lady had a long explanation of why I couldn't use the type of box packed my package in. Oh really? Because I have used the same box with other drop offs many times without problems. Instead of me wasting my time, I went the Post Office in Ashton and they were MORE than happy to take my package! So irritated! Would have been more helpful if the lady with the two-toned hair could have just been honest and just told me she didn't want to help me process my package! read more

I had USPS tracking on a package containing two pairs of prescription eyeglasses I had ordered online. On the day I received notification that my package had been delivered to my front door I came home to see it was not there. I was afraid that it had been stolen, so I went to the PO to see what recourse I had. I told the clerk about my issue, and he went to the back of the PO. Within a minute or two, the manager came out to tell me that the package had been delivered to the wrong street, and that she was going to go to the address to retrieve it right then and would bring it to my house. I was very relieved to find out the package had not been stolen, and her offer of immediate assistance went beyond my expectations. Within minutes of arriving back at my house, she pulled up and told me that the package had apparently been collected by the resident, but that the resident was not at home. She said she would stop by there again in the morning to retrieve it, and she gave me the direct phone number at the PO so I could call her for an update. When I called midday the next day to find out if she had been able to get my package, the man I spoke to knew about my situation already and said that she had been able to pick up my package and had delivered it to my house. I have had very good service at the Olney PO in the 12+ years I have lived here. The initial problem, the misdelivery, upset me and caused me the inconvenience of having to go to the PO, but mistakes happen, and the people in the PO were so helpful in remedying the problem that I wanted to write here and say so. This is a very friendly post office. Even when the line is long, it moves along pretty fast. They have had the same staff members for many years. read more
