I told him I was shipping a letter via two day priority mail and he went out of his way to get the appropriate envelope behind the counter and put my letter into it himself! Usually at post offices, they'll just point you over in the general direction of all the assorted envelopes and have you do it yourself. Because of him assisting with this, I was in and out very quickly! A huge plus with my two kids in tow. Another patron entered as I was finishing up and the other employee who was working jumped right up to help him too. Great service! And the establishment was kept very clean as well.

The post office workers here are always nice and friendly and I have never had a problem with my packages not making it to its destination. I also walk in my letters to be sent out as well as I sometimes have to send checks in the mail. Overall, a perfect little post office conveniently located near the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

When I explained my situation to the window clerk, the woman said she would hand cancel all of them, but asked us to leave since they were about to close. However, when the wedding invitations started to arrive a few days later, I learned the clerk didn't just not hand cancel them, but sent them to Boston to be canceled by a machine. It's a shame you can't trust anyone to do their job right anymore.

Poor & insensitive management. I rented 3 tables and some chairs for my daughter's birthday party…read moreover the weekend and knew that the items needed to be delivered back to the store that following Monday. This was a non-issue until my husband (who is a first responder) got ordered into work on Monday with 48 hours notice due to low manpower. For anyone who knows anything about police-work, knows that order-ins are non-negotiable. Since my husband got notified of his order-in after Taylor Rental had closed for the weekend, I wasn't able to call them until first thing Monday morning to explain the situation that we were in. I was home alone with a 1-year-old that day, with no truck or trailer to get the tables and chairs back by myself. I explained this to the management and said that my husband could bring them back first thing Tuesday morning. Instead of being understanding, they chose to charge us $54 (half of the total rental price) for bringing the items back just 12 hours late, due to circumstances completely out of our control. If it had been a weekend day, I'd be more understating as a customer, but it was a Tuesday. They did not need those items. This was just a quick & easy way for them to make $50. They said this is "policy". I work in government contracting, and there is always an exception to any policy- It's called humanity and Taylor Rental does not have any. As a loyal customer for 2 years, I won't be going back. There are so many rental options out there nowadays- Save your money and go somewhere with better and nicer management.

But a 90 minute lunch break for the retail counter is absurd and can be very inconvenient at times. Not sure if other small towns in the area have the same issue. Not something you'd have to deal with in the bigger towns and cities. People can still access their mailboxes though. After the postal service did cutbacks a couple years ago, our mail sorting and delivery no longer goes through the Danville PO, but rather Hampstead which is a couple towns west, so when we have a delivery issue, that's who we have to call. At least they didn't close our PO outright, which had been threatened.
