I had a great experience here! There were no long waits (I went right before noon on a weekday) and the staff member accommodated my extra request to tape the sides of the letter I was mailing. I also like the stamps she gave me - much better than what would have come out of the self-serve machine. Only thing, it's easy to miss the store! There isn't much signage. To add to that, the windows were dirty because of the recent snowstorm making it harder to see inside. For those who are looking for it, it's right next to the 115 E 34th St apartment awning! USPS is not the place to go for good service. Two people working and one of them barely working behind the counter. Thankfully when I went, there weren't many people there but when I left there was a long line due to only two people working. Service was slow and not pleasant. read more

This is what's called a "finance station," meaning it's smaller and not your typical postal facility staffed by clerks AND letter carriers. This is a place where you could rent a PO box, mail letters, pick up a package, etc. As with most post offices nowadays, the place is poorly staffed and there's usually a long line waiting to be processed. The window clerks are like the general population - some are better than others. But the kicker is, when I went there recently to mail a letter (because I felt sending it inside a postal building would be more secure than dropping it into a mailbox on the street) I saw a sign that said the entire station would be closed from 12 noon to 1 P.M. for what I'm assuming was their lunch break. A whole station closing for lunch? Give me a break! And then they wonder why people are critical of the service. read more

IS IT POSSIBLE TO GIVE NO STARS? This post office is the worst of the worst. I haven't gotten mail in over a week. But my mail comes in every day because I have informed delivery. Oh, and only about HALF of that mail makes it to you. They lost a driver's license six times, my passport twice. Unbelievable. They lost packages and pretended they tried to deliver, but I work at home, and I know they do not knock or buzz to try to deliver. And then there are the lost packages because of this. Oh, you want to complain in person? Forget it! You will get eye rolling, rude attitudes, and no help. They never follow up like they say they will. It's pointless. And complaining online nets you nothing. Glad we're paying for their healthcare and retirement. read more

Wow so the people here are obviously just doing their job so I can't be too mad but they definitely have a tendency of being unnecessarily rude (although there are definitely some very kind employees there) and move at a infuriatingly glacial pace so be prepared to wait. Their system of operation is painfully archaic so all of that combined becomes insufferable. Today, I was in this location at around 3:50pm -4:10pm--ish. I wanted to send a Certified Letter with signature proof of receipt. I found the entire staff willing to be helpful, HOWEVER, the problem with this location is the design. It is small, but there is a square column at center & it blocks views of staff and customers . There were two waiting lines, with NO SIGNAGE AT ALL TO INDICATE THE PURPOSE--What is EACH LINE FOR??? so You don't know which line to stand on. Apparently, the PURPOSE CHANGES DAILY, so no one can tell you what each line is for. There needs to be some simple organization so that the staff and customers can have a good, helpful experience . I would think it is equally frustrating for staff and customers. Some simple ORGANIZATION SHOULD HELP TO IMPROVE WORKING CONDITIONS AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. This is do-able. Cute Neighborhood Post Office. I was hollered at that you can't take photos in Federal Buildings. I won't post the one of the Woman that hollered at me. It wasn't very flattering! There was a long line so I was glad I was there just to mail a letter. I certainly hope it's postmarked today. Just in case the legal requirements involved must be met. I sure don't want a fine or jail, or Both!! The place was clean and had cute displays of cards etc. I'm sure if I'm in the neighborhood and need the service of the U.S. Post Office I will return to this location. A few months ago I returned to this post office and the clerk was also incredibly friendly, although meanwhile I discovered that the wonderful previous clerk (Pete) no longer works there. Today I went there again (in mid-morning), and two clerks were quite UNfriendly - and one of them was also incredibly impatient with me. I finally requested a supervisor after those unpleasant encounters, and the supervisor wasn't much of an improvement. I'm therefore downgrading my rating significantly. read more

There was a gigantic line of people and the level of ZERO SPEED he was operating at almost intentionally while humming music was quite appalling for the entire line of people waiting. The service here is up and down. Today, there were 3 employees sitting at the registers. The lady in the middle refused to look up and said she was busy. The lady with bleached blonde streaks sitting close to the open drop off area was incredibly rude. She barks behind her counter that she's free. When I said I needed a return receipt, she rolled her eyes. Another customer asked for boxes, and she starts barking instructions to her as well. Rather than deal with the incredibly condescending bleached blonde streaks lady, I waited for the man, who was okay. Mr. Parker was not particularly friendly, but efficient. What happened to the Asian lady and man who are always very helpful? They were always efficient and did not give me attitude. Why is coming to the post office such a struggle?! Before the pandemic, I would have given this post office negative 1,000 stars but they've actually been doing an amazing job lately, better than usual and the employees have been super friendly. I drop off packages regularly for a small business and oftentimes, it was more painful to come here than to stick my head in a boiling pot. There was one particularly horrible woman who would roll her eyes after every sentence. I lost count of how many times she gave me incorrect information. She also tried to charge me for Priority Mail supplies (not the postage, but the boxes). Another was just plain mean and grouchy. Haven't seen either of them lately, and it's been a breeze to go through the lines. The blonde lady and the Asian lady are super friendly and knowledgeable. Both of them deserve a promotion, or any positive recognition, for their consistent hard work during the pandemic. A major salute to them, seriously. read more

The postal route that includes East 32nd Between 5/Madison should be watched very closely for Female Postal Employee servicing that route. She will not follow instructions or directions based on your pickup and delivery requirements. Very argumentative and rude and should be reprimanded by filing complaints on her behavior. We had not received mail in three days. I went to our post office at 34th Street and talked to the supervisor. She was not too concerned. Had an attitude, no accountability. Useless. I finally thru my due diligence, literally at 2am in the morning, reached Ms Johnson at the Murray Hill Carriers office who went above and beyond to get our mail delivered! It's honestly either a hit or miss here with the service. Sometimes the employees are nice & helpful. Other times they act like they don't want to be bothered & look annoyed when you interrupt them. It's almost always packed & the line gets crazy long so I mostly come in to drop off packages with labels already or buy them online. I work around the area & we will literally go days without getting our mail. If the mail lady sees envelopes by the desk she ignores them & only takes the mail that they INCORRECTLY send to my office. Once in a while I would be understanding but it happens way too often. Makes me wonder how much of our mail they have lost. read more

Went here recently to return a package. Staff was not friendly nor welcoming. They seemed pretty annoyed when I told them I needed some help returning something. They also charged me to buy my own tape to fix up some of the packaging, and were not too helpful about that. I also had to drop off my return package on a counter than wasn't secure at all and anyone could just take it. Other USPS or UPS stores are generally more helpful and I never had to be swindled for my money just to ask for some tape. Unbelievable. read more

LOST OR STOLEN GOODS: I had a package go "missing" even AFTER it was scanned out as "delivered" to my 24/7 doorman building. The clerk who called me (Valerie) about it says that the carrier claims no knowledge of it. They can't tell me anything useful such as if it was scanned out at the building, the corner nearby, or even if the scanner was working. What a run around. I am still waiting for a call from an actual supervisor after 3 weeks. UPDATE: Ms. Freeda (the supervisor) says I should contact the sender. I asked where the package was scanned out specifically and I never hear back. They tell me to call back on Monday, and then say Ms. Freeda is out. No follow up. The could care less about your items. When I was transferred to Ms. Freeda for even the first time, she greets me with "yes". Not hello or how can I help you, "yes". They seem to be covering up for a USPS employee who stole my goods. USPS needs to be privatised so all these useless employees get fired. read more

What made it even more disturbing is the fact that the manager knew what had happened when I reported them to the district office, and did nothing. The woman working there refused to look . Then she proceeded to ask me what was in the package. These are crooks. Dont trust USPS. I was asked to leave even though I insisted my package is here. I keep it real. Not going to lie before coming here I read some of the horrible reviews and was nervous about picking up my package. I arrived at about 8:30am and within 10 mins I was out the door. I was in the wrong line and when I stepped to the counter the lady behind was like "Sorry sweetie you are in the wrong line. You must go through the door and ring the bell." I was shocked at how sweet she was, I was expecting the worst. Once I went through the door and rang the bell, another lady immediately came to help me. She checked my ID and within a couple of minutes I was out the door with my package. What a lovely and fast experience. I would for sure go here again and next time I wont be expecting the worst from all the bad reviews. read more
