That was the case today, so I decided to try a different post office. Fraser post office to the rescue! They are tiny, and out-of-the-way, which really helps in this particular case. And, the lady behind the counter could not have been more friendly. She had no problem scanning the 18 packages I brought in, and we had a nice conversation as she did so. Went to mail my tax form and buy stamps. 2 women behind desk, one stood close to the other as if in training. I said I wanted to weigh my item to see how much postage would be and woman tapped with her long fingernail, several times on the metal weigh machine. OK, no verbal notice - no problem. I put my envelope on the meter and she rattles off at the speed of a crappy rapper to hit this then that when prompted - on what machine? I glance around and see the screen that I'm supposed to hit this or that. Never was I asked if I want to insure my document. I then say I'd like to buy stamps and she says "one or two packs" - I said I wanted to see what were the stamps so I could select the sheets she points in the direction where the selected stamps are out. I select 3 sheets. My total came to $52.83 ; I had her a $100 bill and she says, 'we can't take that' - I'm like, what! Finally she says they don't have the change. Again, I'm like what! The United States Post office doesn't have $48.00 in change! I was forced to use my debit card. It ticked me off. Overall, it felt like hurry up and get the heck out of here. Little effort was put into talking, explaining, communicating with another human. I left feeling riled up, which believe it or not, isn't my norm.

I've checked in 45 times according to Yelp when I need to mail cards, or packages to relatives and friends in other cities or states. I usually stop on my way to the cemetery when in route to Rochester Hills so it is very convenient for Me. My many photos attached show the reason still to rate 5 stars as in 2017. There are rotating employees working at the 3 counters every time I visit for stamps or mailing packages or envelopes. They are efficient and polite and take their time to service my needs. The counters, floors, self serve mailing areas are always clean and clutter free along with stocked mailing supplies! There are handicap access parking spots and a push button to enter the Post Office if you are disabled or if you are carrying packages to mail. In the lobby are post office boxes to rent for a fee and with key accessible. This location assists for passports and pick up of your held mail ftom vacation and large packages too. She has a little business going through Poshmark, which means I take a lot of trips to the post office. I have tried other post offices in the area, but this is consistently the best. The Mount Clemens post office has been closed three times due to Covid already. It's closer to my house, but it's about 50-50 it will be a wasted trip. The chesterfield post office is generally good, but the dropbox in the lobby area is currently broken. This is how I drop off packages many times, so this is a problem, too. Besides everything being in working order, the business hours are extensive so you can get your packages scanned the same day. They are currently limiting five people in the main lobby at a time, but it moves reasonably quickly. The outer lobby area is very well equipped and well-maintained, with the ability to print your own postage as well as a fully functioning dropbox. Most crucially, packages you drop off in the 24 hour lobby after hours are generally scanned the next day. This is significantly better than most places are doing these days. And, despite the pressure of being in this line of work, everybody I have dealt with at the counter has been professional and friendly. I know my packages are in good hands when I bring them here.
