I've visited this location a few times in the last month and always had a pleasant experience. I know post offices typically get a bad rap, but I've never had a bad experience here...maybe I've gotten lucky during the time of day I've visited?!? Recently I've gone after 5:30PM, which is nice because they are open until 6:30PM during the week. During my visits I've purchased stamps, mailed a package, and another time submitted a passport renewal. The gentleman that assisted most recently, took his time in answering my questions and helped me get everything in order prior to mailing. It's fantastic if you do all the work yourself and simply drop off the letter or box. If not, the customer facing team is pretty useless. Truly the lowest common possible functioning skillsets in action here with no adaptability, problem solving or willingness to go beyond the lowest level of effort. In order to be successful at sending from this location you had best have all your materials done and know exactly what you're doing and do their job for them. I normally don't write reviews on places that aren't restaurants, but I was so impressed today that I just had to add in my 2 cents. Today is the day before Thanksgiving, I have the (very) rare day off and spent the morning running errands I normally never have time to do. I walked into this post office today with 3 letters to be sent internationally and found a long line with many other people who were probably just like me: taking advantage of their rare days off. With about 8 or 9 people in front of me in line, I spent probably 7 minutes total in the building. All the ladies working today were so efficient at handling whatever request came their ways that they got me (and everyone else) in and out quickly. To all the ladies working today: thank you! Your good attitudes and hard work are impressive! This was the most efficient and pleasant post office experience I've ever had, and I was expecting exactly the opposite. read more

My experiences at this location have been hit & miss. Sometimes, the line moves efficiently and the workers are not unpleasant. Other times, I get stuck behind someone trying to mail illegal prescriptions to Botswana & the rest of the staff appears to be "busy" not helping customers. On the plus side, there is an automatic machine you can use if the line is terrible. On the minus side, it's broken about half the time. read more

This is the most useless post office ever. They don't have most of the supplies that you need to send mail out and they are just straight up rude every time you ask them a question. Unless you walk up and just need to literally drop something off perfectly and that's it they are the absolutely worst. If you have questions don't even bother going here. read more

This is the worst Gov agency I have ever been to. Eric and the other older Man who looks like he has a bad back are the rudest people I have encountered. The act like asking a question or letting them know they are put of Priority envelopes in the self serve area is an inconvenience to them. They are rude at ever turn. After a year of dealing with all these people, I now go to the Elm Grove or Ruby Isle locations where people are kind, helpful and competent. The lady Brenda or Barbara who manages these people should be let go or trained again. These guys were constantly mixing up my delivery address with another house number and delivering my mail to them. It took me over 8months of trying to get someone to fix it. I still dont get my magazines monthly. Never heard back from the manager Brenda/Barbara after 12 calls. This place is a waste of money and should be closed. It literally isnt worth the service. Yet another issue with these rude people. Black lady answered the phone yelling screaming at me and would NOT give me the name of her general manager - said she didnt have one. Then Jeremy gets on the phone and Again the same issue . This place is a joke. Carriers are a joke - We pay for this , I pay for this. crazy read more

This is the post office I go to when I need something. Typically I can do most everything from home which is nice. Our mail carrier deserves a reward. Anyway, this place can be good or bad depending when you go. I was there last holiday season and of course it was really busy. But the line moved very quickly and the postal workers were very patient and friendly. That really makes a huge difference. Other times I have been here and stood in line forever and had to deal with a crabby worker. That sucks. They get one extra star because the doors are open 24 hours a day. I can drop my packages off at midnight or use the postal printing machine or buy stamps if I need. read more

It feels strange writing a review for the USPS in Wauwatosa (or for that matter any USPS location). But I must say this place continues to underwhelm me, and may be in a biased way brings into focus why they are in so much trouble. I also write knowing it means nothing to anyone - USPS is not going to change; and you can't help dealing with it for some monopolistic functions. First, the location. Off Mayfair Road, pretty easy to get to, and plenty of parking. Just be careful coming out of the lot. Not the easiest merges onto the main street or Mayfair Road. Facility is relatively clean and well lit. Second, the staff. Completely hit or miss. Some days they are pleasant, other days they are rude. I get that it is a boring job with a lot of pressure, but you signed up for it! How hard can it be to be pleasant while dispensing postage? Third, the queues. On most trips I wait 10-15 minutes in line. I am there usually after lunch time but no later than 4:00 PM. There often are enough clerks milling around behind the counters, but only 1 or 2 are tending to customers. Interestingly, even when the lines are long they don't bring in additional help from the back. Heck, even the grocery stores do that! Fourth, the apathy. You get the sense that the staff, the system and the atmosphere just does not care! Can't fight that or fix it. So you put up with it and hope your next trip to the USPS is not too soon! read more

This place is convenient for me because it's close to my work place and the grocery store. Usually the workers at the registers are grumpy except for Erik. He is always so kind and helpful and give you really good information without asking. For example they were making it so hard to get a P.O. Box there. When I went to him and told him I didn't get a voter card but it shows online that I am registered and a voter. So he accepted that and did the process for me. He deserves a raise or promotion because of great customer service he give out. Why are the other workers there so complicated and grumpy? Like if I don't know something they look at me dumb or said something simple that I'm supposed to figured out. Nope. I work at the hospital and I don't look at people dumb mistreated them when they don't know their way around or some medical terms. This isn't the only place either. It's like almost every post office I go to. It's like the dmv, staff there are just plain mean and don't care about your time too. I just love the fact that Erik made it possible to get all my mails and packages there. I should bring him treats next time. If you wonder who he is, he's a cute short Asian man who usually work by a little register from the big one that has three registers. You rock Erik! read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. I went there for the second time and for the second time I was told that I could not buy stamps. What??? Not only is USPS going to be bankrupt in a few years, they can't even stock enough stamps for me or anyone to purchase. And the best part, they had the stamps in the store. They couldn't sell them to me because their supervisor hadn't put enough out for them to sell and they couldn't get them out of inventory without his signature. Yes, this happened both times I attempted to purchase stamps - with a couple of weeks in between, making me believe that this is not an isolated incident. Not to mention how rude the staff is at this location. One staffer looked at me like I was crazy because I asked for heart or wedding type stamps and basically told me that such a thing doesn't exist (mind you, it does because I purchased them from the website). The second time I went in, the guy told me I should have known that stamps were going up in price because it was "all over the news". Yet, somehow that gives me no solution since I was willing to pay for the stamps, just that he didn't have any to sell. read more

Sadly, service these days, is really unreliable. In the past, I was eager to give excuses for those that fell short of great service. These days, those mercies just make a frustrated consumer. The post office is struggling, and I feel bad, but the service is sub par and undependable. This is the third time over the past couple months letters have just been MIA. Irreplaceable items like memory sticks have been lost out there in the USPS. I actually mailed myself a package 4 weeks ago as I was traveling and didn't want to carry more than necessary. I sent the envelope regular mail and it still has not arrived to my home. I am so sad it hasn't arrived yet. I really need my mail. read more

The woman who answered the phone her name is Michelle I had to call back three times she wasn't able to tell how much one stamp covered. What the amount limit was for one envelope. She belligerently yells at me over the phone repeatedly hung up on me wouldn't let me talk to her manager told me to go to the website to find that information out. How does somebody who's working at the post office not know the weight limit on one envelope before additional postage is needed? Her utter rudeness, not even as much as her lack of common knowledge was what overwhelmed me. Now I have to go to the post office and find the manager because neither her or this other woman who answered the phone would let me speak to the manager. read more

You know, it's kind of difficult to give a rating to an entity that has no competition! There's just no alternative to patronize whether you are pleased or an irate postal customer! This location was built when I was a kid growing up in Wauwatosa and I've seen it through the many changes and remodels over the years. If I were to compare it to the days when it first opened, I'd have to say it's improved immensely. We all remember the long, long lines and miles of curvy ropes leading to the "next available" agent when all you needed was a book of stamps. Of course when you were finally at the front of the line the agent went to lunch, to have a smoke, to put a second coat of red polish on her already exaggerated fake fingernails. So you stood another 20 non-productive minutes staring blankly at the lucky few who were being "served". It was an all day outing to go to the post office! Wow! Things have changed! All of my recent transactions at the branch haven't been unpleasant. The agents have all been helpful. The lines have become, comparatively, short and business taken care of rapidly and efficiently. Remember though, once your item is in their hands it's beyond your control! Technology is another wonderful improvement. You no longer have to stand in lines to conduct business with a human being which, in my opinion, often makes the visit much more pleasurable. As long as I can get in/get out, which in itself is a lottery, I have no complaints! read more

Very poor carrier service. Very poor customer service from the "Customer Service Manager" Jeremy. I had filed a complaint against my carrier on Wednesday, June 24th 2020. I was outside my home in my backyard with my two dogs. The carrier walked to my front door to deliver my mail. He then walked down my front sidewalk to walk to my neighbor's to deliver their mail. My two dogs saw him and started to approach him down my driveway. The carrier began to yell "YOU BETTER LEASH THEM. COME GET THEM NOW!" I yelled for my dogs (who never got close to him, as I began to yell for them immediately when they started to walk toward him). They returned to my backyard. The carrier and I exchanged some words regarding the situation. After I turned around to walk away, he yelled "HEY. I'M TALKING TO YOU. DON'T WALK AWAY FROM ME" and he CONTINUED to walk down my driveway toward my backyard. He had absolutely no right to walk toward me and walk up my driveway. I literally had to tell him to get off of my private property. Yes, I understand carriers are scared around dogs. Yes, I'm sure they get bit. My dogs NEVER got close to him. They went back into my back yard and he continued to escalate the situation, despite me trying to walk away. I immediately contacted the USPS via telephone and left a detailed complaint with a kind woman regarding the situation. I got a case number and confirmation email about the complaint. Today, June 27th, I received an email from Jeremy (the "Customer Service Manager"). Long story short, it ended up being a he said/she said situation, in which my concerns were not addressed. Because they were not addressed and it was clearly a one-sided email and situation, I called Jeremy via the phone number he left in the email. Immediately in our conversation, he was very rude. He kept cutting me off and had an attitude. It was clearly one-sided. He re-iterated what he wrote in the email about "Procedure would have been to spray your dogs with dog spray but he restrained from doing that" and he just kept appraising him for that and not reprimand him for escalating the situation and for him walking up my private driveway unnecessarily. I asked him if he even talked to the carrier regarding that, and he said "How we talk to or what we say or don't say to our carriers regarding complaints is none of your business." He then continued on by saying that the carriers have full access to my entire property. He said that he finds it hard to believe in the 3 years I have been living in my home, a package never had to be delivered to my back door. I told him my back door has never been utilized for mail purposes as it is at the end of my LONG driveway next to my garage. He kept coming up with excuses as to why it was okay for my carrier to approach me, walking up my driveway toward my back yard. He also said he has instructed that mail carrier to not deliver my mail. I have never had an issue with the USPS in Wauwatosa, nor my mail carrier- until now. Yes, the safety of EVERYONE including the carriers is priority. At NO point in the carrier's and my argument was he in danger. I wouldn't be going through all of this to file complaints if I was in the wrong or if he was in any danger because of my dogs actions. I simply asked Jeremy to adequately reprimand his carrier for his actions. Instead, I got threatened by him and yelled at and ultimately hung-up on. For him to be a "Customer Service Manager" and the way he talked to me was inappropriate. Not only is it his job to explain to the customer (me) his point of view and his carrier's point of view, it is also his job to appropriately see BOTH sides and talk to/reprimand his carrier for his actions. Not yell at and be rude with the customer. It IS a service industry, afterall. I know firsthand as I am also in the industry of serving my community. I plan to take this whole unfortunate situation as far as I have to, to get appropriate actions taken against my carrier and Jeremy. read more
