I moved into the area served by the Mechanicville Post office almost five years ago. I've had no issues with my mail delivery and in the half dozen times I needed to go to the Post office the staff has been helpful, friendly and courteous. Looking at the reviews I can only assume that customers that have no problems don't bother to post. read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. They are constantly losing my mail and delivering wrong mail to my house. If I call about missing packages that are saying delivered the PostMaster Julie, gives such a bad attitude. As a taxpayer, I and am not asking for top notch customer service but just basic human decency and concern. It is absolutely lacking and they 100% know that as a government agency no one is going to do anything about the complaints so it just continues. Absolutely wrong. I just recently had another package go missing that was a special gift but because it was marked delivered even though there was NO mail delivered that day, there is nothing I can do. All of the front-desk workers are kind and helpful. The only issue is the person who actually delivers the mail. Very unfriendly and rude. On some occasions my packages have been out for delivery, yet never arrive, with no explanation. The mail lady actively chooses to not deliver peoples mail, whenever she feels like it. Multiple times have my packages been delivered to the wrong address. We have to order our mail to a relatives house, as it seems she has some kind of personal grudge against us. At our home, our mail stays undelivered, however miraculously it is always delivered to the other address. It seems throughout these reviews that this is the general opinion and experience. Some of us rely of the post office for our job, and for our needs. This is unacceptable. read more

Over the past 6 months service from the Mechanicville Post office has declined precipitously. While the delivery service is as usual effective and reliable, the pickup service has gotten erratic to the point where I am considering using UPS or FedEx at almost twice the price to sure that I can satisfy my customers. My business runs on date certain shipping commitments. I find it almost impossible to have shipments ready for pickup on time when the pickup carrier shows up at 8:24AM one day and 4:30 the next. According to the Postmistress the problem is caused by our regular carrier being out of work - not sure whether that is health related, but apparently no one can give any sort of estimate as to when things will return to normal. The office is apparently operating, according to people with whom I have spoken there, with floaters from other offices and temps called in to fill the gap caused by the missing carrier. Regardless of the cause, I ship 500 to 600 packages a year via USPS, and quite frankly, their problems should not be come mine. I will say that the management people there have been very helpful in making extra pickup trips, and accommodating my needs. However this is a stop gap measure, and I was told, rightly so, that exceptions cannot continue to be made for one customer. It would behoove upper management in this area to either find the funds to hire a permanent consistent replacement for the missing carrier, or find some way to organize the temps and floaters to provide time consistent pickup service. read more

I would suggest that you avoid the postal service in Mechanicville if you can. We have had consistent issues with the postal service here over the years. While the staff is nice, the hours are very limited. Additionally, the mail service in this area is surprisingly unreliable. We have received mail for the next street over a few times, and our mail delivery time varies from 10 AM to after 6 PM. Sometimes mail arrives days later than expected by the sender. There was one family Christmas card that we never received at all. The sending family received it back a few weeks after the fact marked "Not at this address" or "No such address" or something similar. They brought the envelope with them during a visit months later, so I took it to the post office for an explanation. Apparently the carrier that day couldn't find our address (in the middle of town...where we have received mail daily for years). The helpful person behind the counter agreed that the address was written very clearly, the envelope had definitely made it to the Mechanicville post office, and there was no reason for it to have been sent back. read more

It would take too long to post all the things wrong with the Mechanicville PO. Deliveries are late, rarely occur around the same time each day, lots of substitute carriers, mail not delivered some days for no apparent reason, post office has defaced envelopes that say Halfmoon instead of Mechanicville (parts of Halfmoon are served by the Mechanicville PO since Halfmoon doesn't have its own PO), limited hours even during holiday season, rude clerks who don't want to help you, packages not delivered and carrier makes untruthful excuses. I could go on and on but I think you get the idea. Thanks to the reviewer who suggested that you can change your preferred delivery on Amazon so USPS is excluded. I am going to do that. read more

First thing: you can change amazon so that they won't use USPS to deliver packages. I canceled after an order was held at the location. Apparently they do this to yell at you because your "snow isn't shoveled in front of your mailbox." Even if it is...I guess they have the ability to discipline citizens. Will use all other carriers I can from now on. read more
