As for most, confidential paper garbage piles up. Papers such as old checks, bank statements, expired credit cards or drivers licenses, etc. For those who have experienced identity theft, it can be tricky to throw these away without risk. Glad to find out UPS offers this service. You pay by the weight. Had a shopping bag full of old checkbooks, papers, statements, credit cards and such. Total came to about 12 bucks. You put the items into the container yourself (no "middleman" to be concerned with in the security chain.) The container is locked- staff don't have access- the bin is provided by a document destruction business that comes daily to pick it up and provide a new empty. This is same system used by hospitals, banks, law offices. Super convenient! read more

Do not, under any circumstances, send from this store. The store manager Kajal is the least helpful person I have ever interacted with, and is incompetent at her job. (TLDR: In the words of my friend, "it's akin to you paying for the package, them taking a hammer to it and smashing it in front of your eyes, and then saying 'an additional $20 please.'") Here is what happened: I was passing through Colonie, NY on my way from Providence, RI (about 4.5 hours away). I came to this UPS store to create a label and send a package to California, with my address as the return address. At some point along the way, the package was damaged BY UPS. I was never notified by the store or UPS, and ended up having to call to see where my package was. Apparently, after it was damaged, they decided to halt their attempt to send it at all, and returned it to THIS Colonie, NY store. Who knows what the purpose is of a return address at all, at this point. Then Kajal tells me my options are the following: either "come by" the office (again, 4.5 hours ONE WAY) to pick up my allegedly damaged package, or BUY another shipping label to either send it to California or back to my return address. I told her that was insane, and there's no way I'm doing any of those things. I then contacted corporate UPS and got a hold of someone in their online chat. He at least apologized for the inconvenience, and then told me I could file a claim for the package to get compensated. I tried, but since this UPS store was the one that sent that package, I could not file a claim myself, and I would have to request the store do so on my behalf. While still chatting with him online, I called Kajal again, told her the situation, and she just flat out denied that this was true. She said she could not file a claim for me, nor could she give me the information I needed to file the claim myself. I went back to the chat and asked him to confirm, and he told me she was in the wrong and apologized for her "bad service." I recounted this to Kajal, who then said she would follow up with UPS corporate and call me back the next morning. Suffice to say, she never called back. I called the store in the afternoon and asked to speak with her, and she literally just regurgitated the same lines she said the previous day: "we can not file a claim, it's not our package and we don't know what's inside." I choked back the rage and ended up buying ANOTHER label so they could send it to California (I have no use for the items--they were a gift). The package arrived with several items missing, and no visible damage to the package or a piece of delicate pottery inside. Oddly enough, what "broke" seems to have been several napkins and a bottle of hot sauce that didn't get on any of the items in the package. I still have no way of submitting a claim, so I'm attempting to at least contest the charge of the second shipping label with my bank. Regardless of whether this was UPS corporate or Kajal's fault, the way she handled this situation was completely inappropriate, and I will never choose to send UPS again. read more

Purchasing materials from this UPS Store can be pretty expensive, so I only go here from time to time, to return packages that have had their postage pre-paid. Zappos returns, mostly (why are my feet still growing?) This place is close to where I work, and it's convenient. I'll often pull in to their small parking lot at 8:45am, and there's usually no one there but the employee behind the counter. Today, there were a couple of other customers, but the employee saw that I had a box that was all set (shipping label already affixed). She asked if I was going to need anything else. I wasn't, so she had me just leave it on the counter, and out I went. It's clean enough, but every time I'm there, the area behind the counter always seems to be in disarray. read more

The employee (JT) is an idiot. I was trying to setup a mailbox and he wanted to forms of id. I gave him my drivers license, work id, credit card with a picture and he kept insisting he needed two forms of government issued ID. I showed him the requirements on the ups website - that had nothing of the sort yet he just kept insisting that his managers told him, one has to have 2 government ID's. read more

I have visited this store in past and Jatinder has always treated me awesome. Recently UPS lost a package I had sent from this store that was very important . The owner/manager Kajal was incredible with her follow through and having her employee Arjan give me constant updates. My package was found in another state and delivered late but still in time . And as they say " better late than never " read more

This UPS Store charged an excessive amount for Packaging, insurance was purchased and the package was shipped. When the package arrived the goods were damaged and it was returned to the UPS Store. Since then the store has decided that the goods were not wrapped properly even though the shipper purchased more material at the request of the UPS store personnel and wrapped it according to their suggestions. This company is refusing to pay the insurance for the damaged goods. I wonder based on the reviews that I've seen now if this is a standard practice for this company. This company will be reported to the consumer board a protection through the state of New York. read more

Went in to buy a box to ship some taillights. I had done a good bit of business throughout the years here. I walked in with my own stuff to package. I do them a favor by letting a couple people go ahead with short transactions. I start to put the box together and the Indian lady working just starts help maybe since I just did them a customer service favor. She told me the cost of the box and the shipping then I get a total of $77 and change. Added in was a $16.50 store packing fee. I went in with my own supplies tape and such. I expected to buy some packing peanuts I figured she charge me for that. I didn't ask her to package it. I asked for a box. Shes never said there was a charge and she didn't give me a price on that but everything else. Enjoy or $16.50 I will never be back there again or any UPS Store for that matter. What a sham. Next time your other customers can wait and ill finish what I set off to do when I got there. read more
