Had to call several times...over 45 min period...put me on hold for 15 mins then someone picked up the phone "we are closed call back tomorrow" and hung up ! Your signature mail watch out for because they like to shove it in resident spam mail. and when it comes to signature only mail they can't even do that . Terrible. Absolutely horrible service and attitude. We have been in the mail order business since 1980's and how times have changed. Our post office in Centerport (across the street from us) is now serviced by Huntington Station branch. I had a vacation hold placed and got back two days early and wanted to restart my mail. Hours of ringing phones and no one answering...finally got a woman last night and she said OK - all set. Today, no mail so called Huntington Sta PO and after an hour of phone ringing and redialing a woman answered and in response to my question of whether my mail was restarted for delivery or not I got: "I JUST GOT IN and cannot check right now. I have to get myself together".... and hung up. WTF??? This is our post office - this is why many of us are upset with our civil service workers! Get yourself together? Maybe get another job. This is a great disservice. I filed a complaint with PO customer service. Incredible horrible attitude. And now I have been calling for the last hour and a half - and phone just rings and rings. I'm NOT reviewing the postal workers whatsoever, they have their hands full. I'm reviewing the fact that there is ONE Post Office for THREE communities: Huntington Station, South Huntington and Dix Hills, and it's NOT WORKING. The mail is continuously misdelivered because of the extreme volume out of one post office for such a large area. There is important mail that I do not receive and I continually get other people's mail. Also, I have to go to the Town of Babylon post office in Deer Park because my post office is so far away and difficult to access. I've lived on Long Island all my life and I have NEVER had such bad delivery as I have had here. I'm sorry, but there needs to be a post office opened in both Dix Hills and South Huntington to relieve the stress off of this post office--and make it easier to visit one, rather than drive a minimum of 16 minutes (more like 20-30 minutes) and 8 miles to what can best be described as chaos central. Enough! Each community deserves to have its own Post Office! read more

Bad, slow and unreliable service, worst branch. They keep raising the fees and things just keep getting worse.

This is the most poorly run post office I've ever experienced. The tumbler that you drop packages into at the automated shipping center is both missing it's handle and almost always stuck in an open position. It's been like this for YEARS. One time I has an employee tell me that's it's stuck because it's full. They did not offer to go back and clear it out. It seems it is almost always full. The Priority Mail box station is almost always empty. Once I went in and the only box was a medium size box that someone had broken down, after it was already used, and stuck back in there. I've gone in the evening that the credit card swipe to open the door is broken, it has been hanging off the door for years. I've gone in after hours and the gates around the stamp / packaging "shop" are either not locked or not even closed. It's dirty, the fixtures are all broken, it genuinely looks like no one cares at all and there is no postmaster making a six figure salary at this location. read more

I just went there to mail an eBay order. My printer didn't work so I had to bring it to a person to take care of the postage. I got there at 8:38 am I wanted to be first on line due to the Covid 19 The Asian postal woman came out to check on something & she saw me standing on line waiting. There was nobody else on line. She then said Let me help you out. She opened the counter gates and took my package and just helped me out. I told her Thank you so much, this was really kind of you, and she just said no problem. As I was leaving I herd the counter gates closing because they still were not open. That kind act speaks volume to me. What a nice human being this person is. I needed to write this because it's always easy to complain but it takes time to compliment good people. She made my day start off great. read more

After going to 2 different post offices in the area, and after being turned away by the Huntington Post Office, I went to this location renew my passport and needed assistance expediting the application. Sean helped me right away, he re-took my photo, double checked the application, and gave me advice on what to do if my passport did not come in time. Very professional and kind. read more

Amazing. I had to get my finger prints taken for a background check. I was in and out in 8 minutes. 8minutes is practically unfathomable.

Worst experience with a post office I've ever had!! Packages being left in unlocked lockers in our condo complex. A package with an expensive light fixture was stolen. Called and got literally no where with the lady I spoke to. Told me to call the police. We know how that goes. No keys were added to the lockers after reporting it. Came out to the mailboxes today. Same thing. Packages stuffed and exposed in an unlocked locker. Called and requested to speak to a supervisor. I got Joe on the phone and explained the situation Joe seemed receptive and told me to hold while he put me on hold. He also told me that I shouldn't call the police. The post office has special "investigators." Ummm. Ok Joe. No mystery here. It was left in an unlocked locker and someone took it. Case solved!!!!! Well, I've been on hold now for over an hour. The best part is, my husband also called and spoke to Joe last week, and Joe did the same exact thing. Still on hold.... We may break a record. I'm not hanging up. I'll stay on this line all day. Until they probably "accidentally" disconnect me. I just wish there was a negative 10 stars option! We're up to 1 hour 8 minutes. I'll keep everyone posted on how long this takes. read more

As of late some of my mail has been missing. I have a camera outside of my house. The Huntington station postal workers have been keeping certain items that I've ordered for themselves. If they keep it up...there will be an investigation. I'm pretty sure they need their jobs. read more

Incredible how they cover for each other. The replacement for my regular delivery man, stopped. Many times. Never exited the mail truck, never got off his cell phone, and never delivered any mail (OBVIOUSLY), and drove off my street. After calling my post office I was just blown off. Called the HS PO today to track a package. Rep. answered on second ring, asked me for the tracking number, and confirmed where my package was. Easy-peasy and very quickly done. This is literally the worst place on Planet Earth. Not just the worst Post Office. The worst place on the entire PLANET. I would rather eat a box of human knuckles than have to step foot in this building again. I don't even know where to start. First, literally only one employee ( a women, don't know her name ) speaks English. The rest communicate through a series of quizzical grunts and low frequency hums. The lines - of which there is always one - moves slower than a snail caught in a glue trap...the place is filthy and unfriendly and they can never provide the correct change for your transaction. It's like the Island of Dr. Moreau ( google it ) I've personally witnessed fights break out on 3 seperate occasions. Fights. Actual fights. On line. At a freaking post office. Worst service ever! Typical of all post offices it seems. Paid for premium mail forwarding service $18.00 a week. 1. Never forwarded mail for 2 months. 2. My credit rating went down hill because I didn't receive bills. 3. Spoke to them personally many times in order to have the mail sent to me. 4. On Saturday this location is closed at 1(Yelp had the hours listed until 2!). Most of my experiences in this location are good! The people who come to this location are usually a sight to see. Last week a woman tried to mail a package without knowing where her daughter lived, and the woman at the counter showed her how to use google maps, and suggested that she call her daughter, and moved her to the side to help other people. I think they are doing the best they can with what walks through the door. Also there is no public bathroom. The best time to pick up a package is during the week around 11:30-12, there was no wait when i went in there today, but there was a guy trying to talk to the man at the counter about nonsense. Our mail carrier is excellent and courteous. Always delivers in the worst of weather. I think they should be commended for what they endure from the public - road rage drivers being one example. Made an appointment for passport, and still had to wait a half hour for something that takes 5 minutes.

What a shockingly unfortunate experience here. The entire office seems to operate in absolute chaos. I received a package notice in my mail box with no name or address on it, just tracking numbers. I visited the post office to retrieve my items and instead found employees barely able to function. After being threatened by a "supervisor" who was unwilling or able to provide his name, I eventually spoke to the post master. While I understand that not everyone is always equipped to deal with the public, I was horrified when I was threatened by the post master. While in the post office I personally observed and documented so much chaos that I had no choice but to file an official complaint with the USPS and am now motivated to contact the Office of the Inspector General in reference to statements made by employees that they would "see me at my address." Avoid this place at all costs, there is a nearby post office in Mellville - it is worth the little bit of extra effort to avoid the mess here. read more
