Meh. I have visited this location on several occasions for various postal requirements. I have experienced decent service for the most part each time - nothing exceptional, but also nothing outright poor or negative. This location tends to be quite busy early in the week (like most post offices), as well as in the afternoons on weekdays (again, like most post offices). It's close to my house, so I frequent this location as my primary, but I prefer other locations. The upside is that this location does have a lot of parking available, so there's that! read more

Ive been to this location a handful of times, and I had my equal share of good and bad service. However, the good service I got recently, outbalanced the bad. This location is poorly staffed. They now sort the lines, one line for counter service, and another line to speak with the postmaster ( big boss), pick mail, etc. I usually have no issues with the counter reps. However, there are times when the clerks are just mean. When I went there, there was one person who was like a glorified supervisor. Very bad customer service. Come to find out, he was no supervisor. Finally, on my last visit, I waited and finally a supervisor showed up, and helped me clear up my problem. His stellar service, change my tune about this location. The post office could use a make over, its very dingy and unkept, with the groundskeeping. read more

I had one of the nicest and most professional staff assist me during a recent visit. I had four items to ship for work. For one of the packages, he asked what was inside after he had already printed out a shipping label with the postage on it. I told him books and he informed me that if it didn't need to go priority, there is different charge for media and it would save me money. So he patiently tried to take off the label to reprint with the new postage. It wasn't coming off easily for him so I offered to assist as I saw that along one of the edges, there was a gap. After processing that package, I had another package that I put in a medium priority box that would have cost $15.05. I asked if I used a smaller box if it would be cheaper and he said yes, if it didn't need to go priority. I needed to make sure it would be delivered by a certain date. He assured me that since the destination was local (Aldie, VA), it would get there in time. Even with having to purchase a box ($3.99) and paying for postage ($8.25), the total cost only $12.24 and the package arrived the following day. This location around lunch time was busy on a workday, but there were several staff working which kept the line moving. The gentleman who assisted me provided exceptional customer service - professional, patient, knowledgable, and friendly. This was probably the best postal experience I've ever had. Highly recommend this location. I would go out of my way to go to this location just for the customer service. read more

This is the nearest post office to my childhood home. My most recent experience here was in late August 2019, when I needed to mail some documents to the National Passport Processing Center in order to renew my passport. I arrived around 3:30 PM on a Friday and I guess managed to get there during a brief lull, as there wasn't much of a queue when I got there, but when I left, there was a pretty long line. I believe this post office has some familiarity with mailing stuff for passport renewals (I understand they're also an in-person passport application center). I was opting for an expedited passport renewal given some upcoming travel/Visa plans and had already put everything in an addressed (but unstamped) envelope with "expedite" written on it per the passport renewal instructions. The lady helping me put my envelope in an even bigger envelope and had me rewrite the destination address and everything on that envelope. When she took it back from me, she wrote "EXPEDITE" several times on the big envelope in all caps so the passport renewal center wouldn't miss it. The staff all seemed to move slowly--like physically moved their arms really slowly when doing things. I was lucky timing-wise so it didn't make a difference to me, but I didn't envy the people waiting in line behind me. They don't make a point of being friendly or engaged in their interactions. At least in my case, my mail got to where it needed to go in the timeframe promised, and I was able to get my travel documents back in a timely fashion. This post office looks pretty cool from the outside, but is a bit shabby inside. There's easy parking out front. I would recommend coming here when it's not too busy/all the other customers are at work, or be prepared to wait a long time. read more

Doesn't seem to matter what time of day you go, whether it's early in the morning, afternoon and right before it closes, seems to be busy all the time. Lines are long, the person who looks for your mail that are ready for pick-up takes way too long to get your stuff and parking is a hassle if it's really busy. Dunno why this post office is always so packed, but never a stress-free time going to this location. Not the worst location I've been to, but far from the best. Why there is always a long line here, no matter what time I come, is beyond me. They do have staff that will walk the line and offer to expedite people with simple transactions (e.g. buying a book of stamps) or those using a credit card for simple transactions. That helps manage the line a bit. The staff are not particularly friendly, but I've always gotten what I needed. They also offer a meager but decent selection of greeting cards here, which are great for sending lat minute (but still heartfelt) sentiments, Not my favorite place to go but it'll do in a pinch. read more

Worst. Post office. Ever! My mail at home keeps going to the wrong box and I keep getting other people's mail all the time, so I got a P.O. Box. I am constantly getting "damaged" packages that have been obviously cut open with a mail letter and are missing things like gift cards, money, or straight up missing the package but the tracker said it arrived at the post office. Horrible is your experience, so feel free to think that through. Employees loathe you, they snare at you for asking a question. Be bold, for their answers will often leave you with depression. Devil's advocate is you, the one who wants the job complete. But that employee there, he'd rather wait till next week. Neither rain, hail, sleet, nor snow, will I ever willingly come back to this show. That receipt I asked for twice now, I tell. That counter to the left was farther than my elbow. Yet, you threw it with ease to the left now, oh please. Why can't you just hand it to me, I beg of you please?! By far the worst postal service. They keel losing my packages. When I called to speak to a manager I was put on a 36 minute hold by some rude women. They forgot about me! So I hung up and called back. The manager answered. I told him the situation and he said he would look into it and called me back. No call back. Also, the postal worker working my route has been consistently putting mail in the wrong mail box! Can this place get any worse? I am disabled and I told the mail carrier twice and USPS.com not to deliver packages to the office where I live but to deliver to my address. The mail carrier act like he doesn't understand English which is providing the worst customer service and if USPS is going to hire someone who doesn't understand English they should provide the English speaking customers an interpreter! The package tracking number is 92748924911736511033423464 and I sent some complaints not to give any packages to the office because it's a hardship for me to pick up the packages. A federal law, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), requires most business and facilities to provide reasonable access and accommodation for all disabled customers, clients, and members of the public. Someone needs to speak and understand English in Germantown, MD post office and USPS is providing poor customer service because no one speaks or comprehend English which is a disservice to English speaking customer. I told the mail carrier twice not to take my packages to the office where I live because it's a hardship for me to get the packages. He acts like he understands but still sends my packages to the office. I never take the time to write reviews but this post office did enough to deserve this 1 star review. They have "delivered" packages to "my house" multiple times only to find out they actually delivered to a different address or they scanned the package as delivered but it never would be dropped off. Then when i bring the tracking number to the post office the guy looks at me and says "the package is in your mailbox".... My dude, do you think i would be here if the package was in my mailbox??? ... then waited off to the side for about 45 minutes just to hear them tell me the driver delivered the package to the wrong mailbox. Made an appointment for passport 1pm one month ahead. We had all required documents and forms ready but the post office clerk took someone without an appointment before us. I wish I could give this located zero stars. I took in 3 boxes to have shipped and covered the boxes with duct tape. I used their boxes (priority, express, etc.) and as soon as the clerk sees my Boxes and notices they were USPS boxes she says I can't ship them. After a few minutes of trying to explain that I altered the box (which I couldn't get my point across because she kept saying they won't send it) and instead of giving me another option which I would've gladly sent it priority if they allowed me to they simply said no. I took my boxes back to my car and completely covered the box so you can't tell its a priority or express box (wasted all my duct tape) but they called the "Post Master". I understood exactly why the customer service and care was the way it was and why this branches reviews are horrible. This big Hodor looking man comes out and first words were "let me tell you why we won't ship these. You can take them to any other post office but we won't ship them here because these are free boxes from us." Well, "hello" to you too and good job running this location into the ground. Thanks to the Germantown branch, the USPS is one step closer to closing down and losing out to companies like Fedex and UPS. I moved 5 minutes away from his branch but I'll never bring my business there again. I would highly recommend going to the Rockville location off Rollins Avenue or the Kentlands, friendly staff that will take care of you and help you. read more

Absolutely the worst post office I've ever dealt with. Packages are often not delivered and notices are almost never left on the door. They update the tracking saying that they couldn't deliver even if you were at home all day and right by the door all day. They don't knock. They're too lazy to knock on the door and see if anyone is at home. When I go into the post office, they do not have air conditioning! The self service bin on the outside of the doors is often broken. If you need to go to self service, go to Montgomery Village where the bin works. read more

The absolute worst post office. The outside bin used to accept packages with preprinted postage has been broken for over a year. Cannot figure out how that is even REMOTELY ACCEPTABLE.... You HAVE to go in to drop a package during normal business hours. Staff are rude and unprofessional and refuse to assist. During my last visit, I arrived 10 mins before the door opened. My Dad is a retired postman, so I try to be sympathetic & understanding of our postman. However, this is the ABSOLUTE WORST mail delivery I have ever received!!! We are constantly getting other neighbors mail. Sometimes the numbers are identical, but the street name is completely different. And often BOTH the address numbers & street name are completely different. We had a large Amazon Prime package supposedly delivered to our address. I am home all day & we have cameras in several places in front of our house that notify us of any movement. This package was definitely NOT delivered here! We contacted the post office & according to them it was "placed in our mailbox." I can assure you it was way TOO BIG to fit inside our mailbox. After getting nowhere with the post office, I drove a few blocks over & was able to track it down on someone's porch. I even took pictures of it from the street as I approached, another closer from their driveway & again from their front porch. I rang their doorbell & spoke with the homeowner. He also stated they were having problems & getting other people's mail. We also keep getting "bad mailing address charges" on our account at our bank because of the post office. Apparently the post office must be returning our mail to the bank instead of delivering it. My husband has lived in our house for approximately 20 years & has had his account with our bank for over 30 years. Fortunately the bank has reimbursed us the fees, but we have had to have this done 4 times already. We have to keep contacting the bank, letting them know our address has NOT changed, having them remove this code from our account & add notes regarding the issue. It's getting VERY OLD!!! I would seriously like to know WTF the problem is & why reading numbers or street names is so difficult? Also, DO NOT lie to your customers & tell them a package was placed in their mailbox when it is obviously way too large to even fit in a mailbox. What has happened to honesty, integrity, truth and taking pride in doing your job correctly? I tried calling the Germantown post office today & the number is constantly busy. I have been on hold with the 1-800-275-8777 number for over an hour. I would love some answers. My next step will be contacting the U.S. Postmaster General. read more

Easily the worst post office in Montgomery county. The self serve package drop off has been broken for over a year, so if you have pre-labeled print at home packages that need to be shipped forget dropping them off on the weekends or after hours. This forces people to wait for them to open and go inside. The lines are always long, it does not matter what time you go. The self service label machine usually has a wait as well. At one point some lady was labeling a minimum of 30 packages at the machine. After all that, the blue mailboxes outside are usually so full by Sunday night that envelopes are falling out the top. I don't think so, because as consumers we've raised enough concerns in these posts for someone to be held accountable and better service rendered. But I'll post mine, with the hope that this will at least raise some eyebrows. I have lived on Highstream Drive in Germantown for 10 years. For 8 of those years, my mail was delivered by an African American gentleman who smiled and took great pride in his job. I was deeply saddened to learned that he died suddenly in 2016, I believe. And my service reliability and congeniality has radically declined since his death. For example, in 2017 I received two birthday cards that had been completely opened. One did not have money in it, the other did and it was NOT in the card. Also in 2017, a relative came to live with me and she changed her address via postal requirements. It took six months and four trips to the Germantown Post Office before she began receiving her mail on a regular and consistent basis. The legacy of poor service has continued into 2018. Last month, I received an invoice from my homeowners association because a piece of my mail had been placed in a trash bag on a non-trash pickup day. The fine was $55 but I was able to argue that because the mail box is next to a trash dump site, it is highly likely that someone put a piece of mail placed in the wrong mailbox into the nearby trash bag. And just today, I found two pieces of my mail lying on top of the mailbox, probably because they had been placed in the wrong mailbox. Had I not looked on top of the mailbox, I never would have seen them. This is aggravating and unacceptable. I don't know my current carrier's name (he's not friendly at all) but today he was driving truck number 9213483. I deliberately stopped to record the truck number because I think he needs to be observed more closely. Maybe it's time to have a chat with him and with someone in management. Because the people of this community deserve better. Is anyone out there listening? read more

Since I NEVER use the Germantown branch I have no complaints about the facility. HOWEVER, our postal delivery person is SO NEGLIGENT ABOUT PICKING UP OUTGOING MAIL from our mailboxes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The most recent incident: I placed a Mother's Day card in my box for pick-up on Wednesday (two days ago!!!!) and it STILL SITS IN MY BOX!!!!!!! We all have to put our outgoing mail in our mailboxes for pick-up (10 years now that I know of) because the out-going mail slot is bent closed so no envelopes can slide in. Now, it is Friday, and the person to receive the Mother's Day greeting, who lives all alone and is 88 years old, will NOT HAVE ANY MOTHER'S DAY GREETING!
