No line at 8:15 am on a Monday morning. One employee staffing the counter. She was nice, friendly, and helpful. Decent sized parking lot plus plenty of parking in the lot for the strip mall next door. Would use this post office again. read more

According to Yelp, this is my only 1-star after 137 other reviews. Hopefully that tells you how poorly this USPS runs right off the bat. Two days ago, one of my packages had been deemed undeliverable because it couldn't fit in my mailbox. The package was neither huge nor heavy, but the courier made no attempt to ring the leasing office and hand it to them instead. I opted to pick up the package the next day through the USPS website. I showed up yesterday to a long line of people and only one employee. Luckily, no one had been standing in the customer pickup line so I figured I'd be out in a couple minutes. I waited for 5 minutes before asking the front desk employee if anyone had been servicing the customer pick up line... he replied emotionlessly, "nope, it's just me." Lovely. I switched to the general service line and waited another 15 minutes. Two other customers even abandoned their spot frustrated. By the time I get to the front and ask for my package, I'm told that they can't find it; the delivery driver must've mistakenly attempted to deliver it again. Well, that was an incredible waste of time, but at least a courier will attempt to deliver my package again today, right? Hopefully? Nope. The tracking number didn't show any attempt to redeliver so I had to pay this dreadful post office another visit today. Miraculously, they found my package in the back this time and I didn't bother questioning how. Over the years, I've learned to spend as little time as possible here. Avoid coming to this location. The USPS on 23rd St runs much smoother despite its smaller size and crowded surroundings. read more

Once again I ordered through Amazon and some of their deliveries are subbed out to usps. I received every package except the 2 through usps in Galveston. They marked it delivered "on a Sunday" Called Amazon and they are resending my item through their driver and said they have received so many complaints about usps and that they are probably going to discontinue their relationship with them. I went to this post office and mailed a package to a relative and they delivered the package to my house instead. They said that their machine accidentally read the address incorrectly and that sometimes it makes mistakes. They made me pay for it again which I thought was very unfair since they admitted it was their mistake! I've had numerous other issues with this post office and have now switched to using UPS and have never had a single issue! They do not seem to care at all about Customer Service and they are extremely rude. When walking up one time to pay for a package, I was a few inches Outside of the line where you stand, and I didn't realize it, and the lady behind the counter screamed at me and told me to get back! This is absolutely ridiculous. They are so unreasonable and in my opinion, quite dishonest!!!! Expensive and they do not honor the insurance you pay for either! I unfortunately needed to go to the Post Office a few times in the past couple of weeks. I am embarrassed for this government agency. It operates as the most inefficient business model. But, I don't fault the workers that are at the counter. They have to take the brunt of frustrated customers. I fault the Postmaster/supervisor of this location. Do they ever talk to a frustrated customer? No. The poor counter clerk has to say they will pass along the feedback. Obviously the Postmaster either is oblivious to the conditions that the customer has to endure - very long lines, inefficient use of resources (hey, do you not read the complaints- open up the special package pick up window and the long lines won't be so long and the customers won't be so frustrated). Being a customer in this line that moves slower than molasses is almost comical. It's like watching paint dry! Don't come here unless you have lots of spare time to hang out. I always try to be friendly and cordial to the workers that work at the counter because it is not their fault that the management is clueless. I can only imagine what it looks like behind the wall where the workers are looking for packages and envelopes. It's probably like looking for a needle in a haystack! Please don't make our impression of a "typical government entity" a reality at this US Post Office! The Postmaster General and Supervisor of this post office have to take accountability and take some steps to make this place work more efficiently! read more

This is the worst post office I've ever been to. I wasted my entire lunch hour waiting in line to pick up a box. Most post offices have a special door for picking up oversized packages. This one does too, but they don't answer the door and tell you to get in line. I arrived just after opening time (8am) to find the main window wasn't opened for almost 10 minutes. Surprised this place hasn't been hit with a lawsuit or better yet shutdown until they hire competent staff. Mail was incredibly late by 2-3 days and my package was horribly damaged. Exterior box had multiple holes, the foam padding on the inside was shredded from mishandling, looked like it had been stepped on, and the computer inside was bent in multiple places and the components inside were not how they were before I had it shipped. All this despite the fragile sticker placed on the outside. Terrible business ran by terrible people. read more

I got a delivery alert on a package 9400 1112 0255 5011 8797 04 not being able to be delivery cuz of insufficient address. Ive had problems before cuz of my location. I called them and they set up a another delivery and I got my package with no problem. Now they said it has been set back.! This is UNSAT! You should have a policy holding any package for one week. The postal person I chatted said all you have to do is put the tracking number in google and it will give me all the info on tracking number. NO .....it does NOT give me any information on the tracking number. She gave me erroneaous info!d. I have many packages coming so I have no idea what company to contact to have my package resent! Just Terrible.... Since moving to Galveston, I have only experienced terrible service from USPS. During COVID-19 we need more than ever for packages to be delivered to our doors but USPS has refused to do anything to improve their service. I read reviews before COVID-19 and it appears to be the same: The carrier refuses to deliver packages to your door so they leave a "delivery attempt" slip in your mailbox. You are then are forced to go to the USPS office to collect your packages. When you get there, you encounter a long line inside a building with poor circulation. This is a serious COVID health risk and absolutely disappointing that this carrier cannot provide the proper service expected by its customers. read more

Literally hell on Earth. I thought my local post office was bad, but this one really takes the cake! Had to go two times now to pick up packages that couldn't be delivered. When you go to the locked door/window and ring the bell nobody ever comes. The second time this happened I asked at the counter and they said I had to get in line. I had already waited 10 minutes at the door and then had to get in line behind a dozen people. The people at the counter could literally hear me ringing the bell for the door, but nobody bothered to let me know until I inquired. There is no sign at the door telling you to get in line - in fact there is a big sign that says "it is illegal for USPS staff to hand mail over the counter", so why would anyone ever think you needed to go wait in the counter line for mail or package pick up?! The employees seem BEYOND miserable and just completely apathetic. read more

Call 800-344-7779 and you can actually get a person, after some automated jumps. It is a technical support line, but the only one you can reach a person. They will file a valid complaint with a case number and supposedly a person is calling me back. Please, please,please file a complaint against this location. So horrible. How can they keep saying my package was undeliverable when it is a house, with a mailbox and the same mailbox they put a package in today. Not enough time to write all they DO NOT do. read more

I have been in talks with Amazon for a while to deprioritize the Galveston postal service to use for their deliveries. Down here in Pirates Beach, we must be at the end of the route because when the postal delivery people get tired they just take my packages back to the post office and claim "undeliverable." Just yesterday I got notices from Amazon that 3 packages were marked as undeliverable due to the fact that the postal folks could not get to the front door. I was home ALL day yesterday and had no attempt at the delivery. Hopefully my conversations with Amazon will lead to having UPS deliver our packages. Supervisors routinely mistreat and berate employees, they are always hiring because so many quit. They overwhelm new employees and tell them you either "sink or swim". They throw packages with no regard for what the packages may contain. I routinely use other services to avoid using the US postal service. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Worst service I've ever experienced. Always an extremely long line with only one person at the counter. Employees do not answer phone calls, in the rare event that they do, they put you on hold for 20+ minutes (I hung up after that and called again) or are almost always very rude. It appears that they try not to release their local phone number to the public (after talking to an employee) and expect you to go through the automated machine through the 800 number which basically takes you nowhere. Most importantly.... Packages are LATE, 95% of the time. The tracking information online is completely unreliable. I've had priority mail delivered 2-7 days past the expected date. What is wrong with this post office?? It's as if 3 people work there. I cringe every time I place an online order and the company uses USPS. As someone already said in the reviews: "thank God for FedEx and UPS." I agree 100%. Can someone in DC just get rid of USPS, starting with the one in Galveston, TX? They don't bother to deliver packages. They don't scan the packages either so you can't schedule a redelivery online or on the phone system. No one picks up the phone. I have had my last 3 packages disappear. This is a government service. Not everyone has the ability to drive miles to this location to investigate what the usps has done with their packages! I spent an entire hour waiting in line to buy two stamps. The Post Office on Broadway in Galveston Texas. There were not a lot of people in line, but there was only one person at the counter at a time. There were more people in the post office, but they made sure there was only one person helping customers at a time. After an hour, I was CLOSE to the front of the line, so I could hear the person at the counter. I complained that the service was entirely too slow, that I had been waiting an hour for only two stamps. She told me to "write your congressman." I complained that her response was rude and inadequate. She then went to the back and told another worker to phone the police to come and remove me from the post office. I had to go back to work, so I left without ever being served. None of the postal workers at the location cared at all. read more

Jamaica Beach residents can't get mail delivered at their homes/businesses. No problem, one time fee of $35 for a mailbox at the entrance to the neighborhood is fine. Paid for mine on May 4, was told carrier will re-key an empty box, call me with info in a few days and I go back to the Galveston PO to get my key. It's May 27. I've been back to the PO 4 times to find out why I still can't get a mailing address. Main carrier either sick or on vacation and apparently the only person who can re-key a mailbox. Not his fault - this PO has no backup plan and none of the relief carriers can do this. I give my # for a supervisor to call, told one will in a few days and no one calls. Tried to get a refund but not allowed as "the only supervisor who can authorize was on vacation." My mail is currently forwarded to a relative 2 hrs away and has to be UPS'd to me weekly. The lone clerk at the front counter tries all he can but the responses he gets when trying to help me is sorry, nothing we can do. They have no idea when the main carrier is coming back. Truly hope he's ok - again, not his fault - but this PO is continually denying me the ability to get mail in the box that I've paid for. read more

The post office workers have even admitted to me numerous times that the carriers are lazy and will just write they could t get access to the doors when they don't feel like delivering a package. Rude people. I brought a prepaid package (eBay) and the attendant told me the postage was insufficient. She wanted an additional $28.80 to ship the 3 pound package (I had prepaid for 2 pounds). I went home and printed a new prepaid label for $1.20 additional. What's up with USPS? read more
