Seawolf Park is an AOK place to spend part of the day with your family. Tip: There are several spots here where fishing is appropriate. The first thing you'll notice when you get here is that there's lot of space to move around in.  They also have a playground for children :-) If the weather is nice this isn't a bad place to bring a picnic to.  In addition to their outdoor facilities, there are a few port-a-potties and some vending machines. read more

The park require 6 dollar parking fee which is a little ridiculous, especially for people come for the navel museum. And if you leave the park trying to get some drink, you can't claim that u already paid the parking fee. They also charge for fishing. It's an island surrounded by water, with palm trees, looks pretty nice. read more

I paid $6 for parking and $13 for admission to the ships. I am not going to complain. We are supposed to know the money before your visit. When I paid the admission, the cashier asked me " Are you a military veteran?" I had to say" I am from Japan. I was your enemy. lol. It seemed to me that the park had some military discount. I saw a sign for anglers. The anglers can fish two sharks. Who can catch the shark???? The museum was very educational. The submarine Cavalla was kind of small and narrow. Probably, Americans were not fat. If you are oversized, you may not move inside the submarine. Stewart was a bit bigger. I really enjoyed the views of the Gulf. Overall, $13+$6 was not bad. Seawolf Park offers beautiful Galveston views for fishing when weather permits. However, restroom options disappointingly consist of only dirty, porta potties in the evenings, while the newer, nicer shipping container bathroom with running water closes much earlier and at inconsistent times depending on the day. Personally, I view the price to fish expensive and if you're not fishing, after 5:30 you're still required to pay - the nicer restrooms and amenities are the only things that helped us justify the cost. However, it's truly a waste of money when those aren't even accessible. Having no facility with running water or soap available severely diminishes the overall experience for all. read more

Seawolf park is a nice little fishing spot to come with your whole family. There are areas to BBQ, fish and a playground for kids. We came on a Saturday mid afternoon. The place was not overly crowded. There are enough areas to choose from to fish starting from the parking lot facing the ocean to the pier with areas to clean and wash your fish. While you fish, children can entertain themselves on the playground with other kids ages 5-11. It's a nice place to come and spend a whole day with your family. During your time, you can see ferries coming and going and other big and small boats coming in and out. Very relaxing and scenic spot. read more

Had a great first fishing trip. My wife really enjoyed herself the atmosphere was really great everyone was so friendly. We started at about 9 am and fished through 2 pm didn't get to tour the sub but we will next time. Pack a picnic basket they have nice areas for you. Seawolf park is perfect for a picnic, a day of fishing, or for kids to play. The park is very well kept and is a pretty scenic location. There's lots of boats, dolphins, and pelicans to look at for the kids. The play ground isn't fenced in and is pretty close to the water, SO KEEP A VERY CLOSE EYE ON YOUR KIDS. This is a nice safe spot to do some fishing with the family or by yourself. read more

Needing a $6 entrance fee to a park doesn't exactly inspire motivation to visit but since I saw pictures of the ships, I figured yay! we can check out inside of a real naval ship! Of course I was disappointed. The other reviewers for this park put pictures of inside the ship but fail to mention that it's not part of the park fee. It's a separate fee to go to check out the museum. Maybe stick your reviews on the actual Galveston Naval Museum instead of Seawolf Park next time. We were very disappointed in the experience and won't be coming back again in the near future. read more

I LOVE THIS PARK!! I went here with my cousin dad. This is our "go-to" fishing spot. It was such a nice little getaway. We are still learning the park so we haven't had much luck with fish yet. We came on Saturday at 12:30 and left at 7pm. No luck! It was super windy and cold but we all had so much fun. The sun was in and out and was sooo relaxed. Can't wait till the summer! I would be here more frequently for sure! They are doing construction on the main building here so they have "nicer" flushing porter potties herenin case you need to use the bathroom. Always a good and relaxing time fishing off of their pier. Seen people catch MASSIVE fish here. read more

This was really cool, I hadn't been there since I was a kid. It was definitely worth a revisit. I was surprised at how many people were there which was great. They have a good fishing area and a neat playground but the battleship and the submarine were really neat to walk through! We were there for 2 hours to see it all. read more

It sucks that you have to pay to park your vehicle AND to fish. That sucks big time. Wayne he was about to pay to fish, but I told him, "No, don't do that, that's not smart!" Thank goodness he listened to me. Galveston is a good island you find some flounder and other salt water fish, however you have to wait a couple of hours. As you are driving towards the park, you will find yourself looking at lots of people who park their vehicles on the side of the road. Some do it to avoid the cost of their car, but others do it for other reasons. On the right side of the park, the water is brackish and it's fairly difficult to fish especially with the rocks and your line getting stuck a couple of times. Overall, the park is OK, but the view is nice. read more

Husband, 7yo son and I had a great time! The check in lady was so friendly. There weren't many people there so we were able to go through both ships without having to wait for others. There was so much information! The only downside was that there wasn't any merchandise or a gift shop. We like to collect magnets from all of the places we visit and would have been nice to have one from here. I would definitely recommend to any person into history. read more

Best park in Galveston! Wonderful amenities and responsive, friendly staff. The fishing is the best in Texas.

We took a harbor boat ride and noticed the ship and submarine from a distance. We are history junkies and especially World War II. Taking the scenic drive to Pelican Island we went to Seawolf Park. Parking is plentiful and there are playground equipment and benches for a family outing. However, the jewels are the historic submarine and war ship who both served in World War 2. It is both fascinating and humbling to follow in the footsteps that these brave servicemen and women walked in. We were surprised how small the submarine quarters are and how 60 people partnered to serve together. The ship is big and mighty even in her retirement. The self guided tour allows visitors to move and learn at their own pace. Give yourself 2 hours to appreciate this must see Galveston site. We appreciated the opportunity to step back in time and expressed our appreciation to thousands of brave Americans. read more

This is a shit park, it's far from everything and it cost money to park and to fish! The lady in the front the. Proceeded to then question my address and why it wasn't updated on my ID like it's any of her fucking business and if I really lived in Galveston smh. There is a very nice view when the farry and cruse ships aren't coming in scaring all the fish away. Tie your rig any way you want the second you drop it it will get stuck so bring your tackle and extra bait also for the fact that there is no free re entry. I visited Seawolf Park in March 2016. Particularly to go fishing off the pier. I had read that there was a bait shop here but there isn't during this time of year. The Seawolf Park building looks run down and was closed. Again, maybe because it is March and this is the off-season. My review is on fishing though not the park. The cost to fish here is $6 and $3 if you are a senior over 65. But that is not the only cost. You have to pay $6 additionally to drive your car through the gate. My wife was going to drop me off so rather than pay the $12 for her to drive through the gate twice, I just got my gear and walked in. The cost to fish at Galveston pier 61 is $12 and at Jimmy's Pier it is $12 or $8 if you are a senior, military or law enforcement. And Jimmy's is far nicer than any of the other piers reaching about 1/4 mile into the gulf. The fishing here at Seawolf park is different because it is more of a bay fishing experience. So if you bring your car and park here and fish the cost is the same. The pier is smaller than the others and narrow so you have to be careful not to get hooked. The decking and top rail have been replaced. The best part to remember is the worst day of fishing is still better than the best day of working. read more

Great place to catch fish while having the entry at a cheap price! The fish though can have restrictions like the Spanish mackerel. It can't be less than 14" or else they fine you per fish just a heads up. Honestly you might want to get more "updated gear" for night fishing. Also bring hooks with fake shrimp instead of wasting your money on bait I caught WAY more fish then people next to me and they were using tons of shrimp and it kept falling off their hooks they caught 1 per every 8 I caught. read more

My dad, boyfriend, and I really enjoyed this park. $6 to park and $5/person 12+ to walk through the submarine and ship. We did not fish but I think the sign said $6/person to fish? Don't quote me on that one, we were only there for the ship and sub. The tours are self-guided and it's only a one time trip through the gate so make sure you see both the ship and sub before you go back. They both have a few signs explaining what things are and if you're a big history buff like my dad then you'll really enjoy it. It's definitely worth it to do at least once. We drive around the rest of the park and saw a playground, many people fishing, and some people grilling/picnicking at the tables available. Details: the sub and ship part is called American Undersea Warfare Center at Seawolf Park, Galveston, Texas. It includes the USS Cavalla (submarine) and USS Stewart (Destroyer Escort ship). Wow, great park, submarine and ship from World War III restored quite well. Tickets were very reasonable. Really really have you insight to what the primitive conditions for fighting men in the Great War were like. Not easy I'll tell you that. The staff are extremely friendly, informative, courteous , and professional. Once they found out we were Military we were treated like rock stars!! Well, ok, they told us where the bathrooms were and gave us a wee discount, but it was a great day. My children loved exploring the submarine and anti submarine ship for a couple of hours. We them spent a little time at the playground and watching the pelicans wait for the fishermen to skip them a little fish guts...... it was a fun time our despite the near freezing temps this trip. read more
