The park was clean and not crowded. Also no big kids or teenagers running around. They also have a big splash pad that cool him down before going back to play . It was really hot that day and there's no shade ANYWHERE in the playground or benches. Only the gazebo outside the playground has shade.

This park is good for toddlers and grade schoolers. Some of the slides on the "big kid" side are pretty high and fast. The toddler size is also great. oJanuary 17, 2024 I…read moreplayed 3 hours of pickleball and got home to to the west end and had no water. it's typical of the club of the isle; if it's not a leak it's "the water dept needs to do an inspection" LOL! i waited an hour and a half and came back here to shower. im ever so grateful to the city of Galveston for allowing the residents to recreate AND shower here for FREE!! thank you so much ps: Ms. Shelia [mgr in charge for THREE decades] is such a sweetheart, and so is Terrell the rec coordinator... both are such assets.

The play equipment is a little old and showing signs of use (understandably) but still totally functional. There's a play area for toddlers that has a canvas cover and a larger play area for older kids. There's also a tall structure with slides, swings, tennis courts and a pool. Parking was easy and there was an open grassy area for team sports with some scattered benches and trees. The play area had mulched rubber instead of woodchips which I'm a fan of (those woodchips get everywhere!). Overall this park was a-okay, we might put it in rotation but there are better in the area.

Very few parks in Galveston, if any, can match this one in terms of multi-functionality. I occasionally take a walk here during the colder months when the unshaded weather allows it. Seeing all the dogs cheer me up! Parking is typically easy. Marine St has a dedicated lot for this park, and Albacore Dr has unrestricted street parking. Alternatively, N Holiday Dr has 2 hour parking from 9am-6pm.

Finally, a park with the senior citizen in mind! LOVE IT! Today, I took my husband along with his…read morewalker and our dog, Oreo, to Carbide Park in LaMarque, TX. What a nice day! What I loved the most was that my husband was able to navigate a good portion of the park with his walker. We parked in the north lot at first. There was a nice concrete path that led from the north parking lot across a fun bridge and almost down to the area where the senior playground is. The rest of the path was in gravel, which he was still able to navigate with his walker (probably will be difficult for some walkers, but his has four big wheels and a seat). He got plenty of exercise with his walk, resting now and then on his seat! I then left him at the senior playground to wait for me while I walked back, got the car, and drove down to the parking lot there. Then, I had fun using the equipment that was there, including the swing! Fun day, especially since my husband could enjoy it with me. If you have a handicapped loved one and need a fun place to go, try Carbide Park!

See pictures for…read moredetails ;) Kids also enjoyed the playground for elderly - nice when adults can use the playground equipment together with the kiddos Bathroom by the playground, nice paved paths for riding the bikes, some hills, plenty of wild flowers and a very quiet, tranquil atmosphere (at least in the morning) - it's a good park and I'd definitely recommend it!
