Depending on the time, the wait time can take foreverrrrrrrr and the line can go all the way to the entrance door. But lately whenever I come in surprisingly there is no one waiting in line. There was only one staff member available. I sell a lot on mercari so I make a trip to this location to drop off packages before I go to work. Angelica is wonderful and always makes myself and other customers feel welcome. Her charismatic personality, bright demeanor and positive attitude is so important during times like this. You may be wondering what is the point of renting a post office box? Especially if you are like me who is able to receive mail at my place of residence. Well, I spend five days a week, 40 plus hours a week in Watsonville for work so a post office box near work is a convenient and secure location for receiving mail containing sensitive documents and packages. I live in a rural town and have seen the post person leave packages and mail containing sensitive documents out in the open and at unsecure locations such as on the curb/sidewalk of the street! Therefore post office boxes are a godsend for an individual under my circumstances. I inherited this post office box from my parent's after their passing. I don't recall when my dad started renting a post office box from here but he came to the United States from the Philippines in the 60's so I am assuming he had it for that long. It has been with our family for as long as I have been alive so I would say we've had a post office box here for well over 40 years! After all these years this post office hasn't changed much. The only thing that frequently changes here is the price of a postage stamp and the cost to mail packages! It seems like they increase their prices at least twice a year! Renting a post office isn't cheap and I find the prices to go up too often as well. You can opt to pay for your box for half a year or a full year. There is a frequent change in staff as well. I believe I was once told that they use this post office to train personnel who are transferring to other post office branches to become managers. The new manager, or the gal running the show here goes by the nickname of "Chavy". (Not sure if I spelled her name correctly.) She's a fellow Filipina that I just clicked with right away for obvious reasons such as our upbringing. She remembers your name and is personable. Her customer service is so on point that even while waiting for a long time in line you don't feel disgruntled because she has a knack for lifting the mood with her banter and her positive attitude. Speaking of lines, be prepared to wait during peak hours which are generally right when they open and during noon when people like me are mailing packages during their lunch break. The building and the post office boxes they rent out are pretty old. I think my little post office box once had a metal panel near the box number but that has long since been missing and nowhere to be found. Since I have never seen the panel on the ground, I'm assuming someone pulled it off but who knows? The parking here is a pain to say the least. There are not enough spaces and the parking spaces that are available are for fifteen minutes only. The worst part about the parking area for the post office is the spaces are so tight you risk someone's car door slamming into your vehicle or visa-versa which I can say for a fact has happened numerous times to me. I've had to climb from the passenger side to get to the driver's side of my car due to the tight parking spaces! This issue happens so frequently, I have since given up on saying anything about it. It's a futile cause so I just park further away to maintain the integrity of my vehicle! Despite the hassles, it is a convenient and secure location to receive mail. I have had some unforseen issues with the clerk who was with my ex husband and the post master who clearly has it out for me. I was called at 830 pm by post master and she was yelling at me. Like why are you contacting me when you didn't want to hear my concerns? What gives you the right to contact and yell at me after post office hours? I contacted the complaints department and nothing was done. This post master denied me service, refused my money for my box of 21 years. Post master said it was irrelevant the length of time I have had my box. I have been over charged with no refund within the grace period of payment off my box. She has rekeyed and charged me several times illegally. I have my kids pick up the mail due to concerns of false accusations from this horrid woman. I refuse to get another box because she is allowed to be aggressive and hostile towards me. Poor service from these women. So much for customer service. Minus stars. read more

I basically never have issues here because I've never had to really speak to anyone before. I own a small business and i use a third party company called shippo to ship my packages and pay for my labels. Shippo is connected to my website so when i get an order it has all of the information, and the address. All i need to do is click pay, for the postage and then a label prints out for me i dont input anything and i have been using this service and shipping my orders out for over 6 months this way. I have never had an issue with my packages being mailed back to me or being charged more for them. Today i came in to a dead post office and the lady stopped me as i was dropping off my packages to tell me that id been "getting away with" sending out my packages with wrong labels. She said shes tried to stop me before to tell me this but ive actually stood in line many times to drop off my packages before i found out that i didnt have to wait lol! so there was plenty of opportunity to tell me this before today. Im super irritated and will just go to the ups drop off on east lake from now on. read more

Wow this US Post Office has some real bad reviews. So far the only complaint I have is that they close at 4PM. Who runs a business like that? Yup the U.S. Government does; well, at least this Department of the Executive Branch. Oh, I get it that they are struggling to make money with fierce competition from UPS and FedEX and the like, but really what they need is a leadership team that can motivate their aging and deteriorating work force, fire their 10% (maybe its 15-20%) that are non-productive and lazy, and do better outreach to schools and get kids and young adults interested in sending letters again. They need to start a "retro" letter sending campaign and get people motivated to return to our glory days of waiting patiently for the mailman to show. Otherwise, I have not experienced any problems with this post office other than the closing time. Fix this and operate like any other real business and stay open until 5 or 6PM and this location will get 5-stars from me. Thank you Post Office. read more

Incredibly rude and unprofessional staff. A shining example of why the USPS will soon be a completely defunct organization. Clerk was literally yelling at me because I had the audacity to ask her to look for a package that tracking said was delivered 5 days ago. Yelled at me to "leave and come back when you have some information that's actually helpful". Smug, disgusting attitude. I had to leave to call fed ex to re-check my (already correct) tracking number, and clerk was loudly talking to other customers about me when I came back in. Apparently, you must list being a See You Next Tuesday in your qualifications to be hired at this cesspool of angry middle aged spinsters. read more

I would give the USPS in general, and this post office, in particular, a minus rating if it was possible to do so. Nobody is accountable for anything. You can't get through via phone. They constantly misdeliver mail, damage mail, and are more than willing to take money for 2 day priority delivery, and then deliver in 5 days. Other than absolutely necessary, I will not use USPS, and I will make that recommendation to anyone I talk to. read more

The Majority of the staff at the US post office on Freedom are unpleasant, seem to always be in bad moods and don't go out of their way to help. If you ask to use a piece of tape they want to charge you for an entire roll...etc... they are rude and snarky. Aptos post office is way friendlier , professional and helpful. read more

very rude and unprofessional to help 1 customer in excess of 8 minutes and not acknowledge the other 3 that are patiently waiting. I could see the cashier was by herself and might be having a rough day however I still found it rude and a bit offensive to not acknowledge the customers' patience and say "I'll be with you in a moment" or "thank you for your patience" while she mailed 1 customer's packages then helped her open a P.O. box. I ended up walking out and i noticed another guy did as well. The cashier has been there for years and I'd like to think she were more professional in the past but today she was very rude. read more

Like wow, the front clerks always say they're short of help, long lines and won't even help you with assisting on packaging a box, I mean it's not that hard of a job to assist people to setting up a box or with any assist whatsoever. What a waste. People.work normally till 5. The mailman leaves a certified letter notice taped to your house, They close at 4. How in God's little green acre are you supposed to sign for your certified mail. I was there 3 minutes after 4. Saw the post person in there counting his till. Ok, no problem. Waited a few, and rang the bell bell that said " If you need service, ring the bell" The guy even saw me standing there. Returned their certified letter back to them in the mail drop . Told them to keep it. Feel sorry for whom ever the sender was. They wasted their money. No wonder the USPS is going broke. They are not a user friendly service. read more

VERY RUDE.. I had a prepaid package to send out. Im waiting line for my turn as I approach the clerk I ask him for USPS tape to tape up the box and he reply's with you need clear tape. I replied that I have mailed a box before and Gilroy had no problem giving me USPS tape I even offered to buy some he refused. No customer service, I just think the line was overwhelming him. Every time I've had to call or walk in with a question they are both RUDE. No Customer service skills what so ever. They only have 1 clerk at a time they are BOTH RUDE, they say they are short staff. read more

What a wonderful place to get all your post office questions answered. The three main employees that work the windows are very professional, knowledgeable and courteous. They never fail to ask me if I need stamps or some other service they provide. It is a small office and sometimes the line is out the door, but each person that enters is treated with respect and the time they need to do their business. Great service!! read more
