The passport service window in this office is completely inept. I have tried to get a passport renewed twice and there was a lame excuse both times as to why they could not do it that day, which both lame excuses were not on the website. Both days we showed up within the hours of operation stated on the www.usps.com website. Lame excuses from: 1 "We do not do passports on the first 3 days of the new year" REALLY?? and explain to me why....??? YOUR holiday is longer than the rest of the countrys.???? On Friday January 2nd. 2 "We do not accept passport applications after 2pm." (USPS website says hours of passport ACCEPTANCE operation 9:00-2:30pm) REALLY? and explain why...?? Because the USPS website says ACCEPTANCE, not COMPLETION. We were there at 2:22pm Tuesday January 13th. And you turned us away. There is an understanding now for me as to why there is so much workplace violence which has happened in USPS locations. Customers having to deal with employees such as this woman, who clearly did not care about her job nor her customers. And after pleading with her that it is not 2:30pm yet and still time to get a passport application in, she still refused. She ended work a few minutes early with a customer standing in front of her window with a 10 year old child and his father. This is NOT DOING YOUR JOB. An income is earned. Not just being there in person and doing nothing. This woman is a lame employee and should be written up for incomplete and unsatisfactory work. Decent post office. I waited in a line of about 7-8 people and got to the front in about 15 minutes. The service behind the window is nicer than my neighborhood post office! They have nice displays in the bulletin windows. They were sold out of all the pretty Valentine's Day stamps I wanted to buy. The clerk was nice enough to go to the back to get me a few books of last year's old heart stamps. read more

I am disgusted with the lack of service this Post Office provides to the residents of Forest Hills. In my experience with them, my postal carriers rarely leave notices or reattempt to delivery packages. On a few occasions they have left notices several days later but most of the time they do not, I have to physically go to the office to pick up my package. Another issue is when you call their main number , you will notice that the phone is placed off the hook. There is always a busy signal and you can never reach an employee. I think this is absurd and ridiculous. I hope management is reading this review and they do something about this. About a week ago, I was expecting 2 deliveries. Based on the tracking online for the packages, I should have received the delivery from the post office on the 12th. A few days later on the 19th, I receive the notices. On the 20th, I gave my mail carrier the 2 notices for redelivery. He explained, if the packages are over 2 lbs the truck will delivery it. On Monday, I received one package which he left at my door, per my request and the 2nd package has yet to be delivered. Btw, I did some research on the weight of the packages and both were under 2lbs. This is not an isolated problem but an ongoing problem with this post office. Ive lived in the community for several years and this is always been the case. I really hope service improves, because its a shame. read more

RE: THEIR PASSPORT SERVICES Apparently they can only process a certain number of applications per day (I believe the manager said between 30 and 35). Their Passport Service hours are posted as 9:00 AM - 2:30 PM but that is incorrect. I got there a little before 2:00 on 6/17/15 and the manager (or assistant manager -- blond woman) said that they are no longer processing applications for the day. Calling their phone number (718-263-3165) is pointless since no one ever picks up. Their hours should be listed as 9:00 A.M. to ?? A.M. (until the 30th or 35th application has been processed). Get there by 7:00 when the post office opens since it seems like if you go there in the afternoon, you're out of luck. read more

I had to deal with one of the world's biggest b*tch while trying to apply for my passport. I was already on line for over 30 minutes. I had the tiniest error on my form, I crossed it out and she made me re-write everything! and made me go at the end of the line! There was only one window open for passport applications. She was a mean ass Chinese woman. She got me so damn furious that day. The way she spoke to me and everything. She had that mean attitude right off that bat and only towards me too. She didn't give anybody else a hard time. I don't know if it's because I'm from Taiwan or what but she was being absolutely ridiculous. By the time I left, I spent over an hour waiting on line and getting this crap done. I hope I don't see her again in 10 years. read more

BE WARNED! THEY ARE NOT RESPECTFUL! I went to this location seeking a passport, the line was closed at 1:15pm because they only take 25 people a day-this was told to me by Jackie the supervisor there. They did not assist and the agent gave me a rude attitude and check his watch to say he was done for the day. The post office says walk-in till 2pm but they don't announce that on their website nor their facility. The supervisor Jackie said she has to take care the of the people who are here 6am-they open their doors at 9am; how much volume does this post office accumulate to avoid further walk ins? I would give zero stars if I could. There are many times where I was home and was expecting a package. I check the tracking number, it states a delivery attempt was made and a notice was left. I was home all day, they never rang my bell and no notice was left. There were also times where my package was delivered to the wrong address so I never saw that package again, and my certified mail has been lost before as well. When going into the post office location the lines are always long due to the postal workers moving in slow motion. I have also seen postal workers behind the counter ignore customers when they are trying to ask a question. The customer is even knocking on the window so there's no way the worker didn't hear him. Cannot wait to move out of the neighborhood so I don't have to deal with this post office any more. read more

Update: 7/2/2015 I really could not stand the Post Office. A customer had to tap on my arm to point me that it was my turn to go to the window. The clerk did not flash the light to alert the customer that the window is open for the next customer. The #15 clerk was so incredibly rude! I couldn't stand her! Post Office, I have ENOUGH. I am not going back there until PO does something about the rude employees! I am sure that my whines will not go anywhere. Goodbye Post Office! I am taking my business elsewhere. The lines were confusing but later I realized that one line was for passport and other for desk window for mail/package. I arrived early today a little before 7 am, luckily, I was first in the line. I waited until 7 am yet no one was in front until maybe close to 710 am. The line was already growing. I kept looking at the logo that turns the light on knowing that the window was open but a nice lady behind me tapped on my shoulder and pointed at the window (the light was off). Since I am deaf so I couldn't hear that the worker was calling. The package was placed on the counter and the worker spoke to me and I told her that I don't read lips well. She rolled her eyes up and made faces. I asked her to write and another customer came and used the body language telling me that the window door needed to be closed and he closed it for me. I was like oh gotcha. Thank you so much, sir! The way PO operates here is really different than in Texas. I did not have a pleasant experience but I learned something new thanks to the customers. I think I will do better next time I am there. I am not comfortable with how they call for the customer to come to the window. PO needs to know that it is NOT customer's responsibility to handle people like me who cannot hear and cannot read lips well. With the glass windows and the sun shining thru (glare) is difficult to see thru when standing in the waiting line in the line. It needs to have better system for deaf people to know when it is their turn. read more

I sell on ebay and have to make countless horrible journeys to this postoffice. There is one really nice knowegable, hardworking lady i think her name is maria? I try and get her let others'go infront so i get her. The other workers are ignorant rude and lazy i think their job is to be as horribleto the customers as is humanely possble. It is chronically understaffed and i always used the machine but it broke down on me two times and then i had to wait in line with two small kids for 45 minutes and nobody knew how to fix the machine they have no training. Probablt the worst post office in existence. All of my registered packages from oversea always get returned and it always says undeliverable address. So all my other mail can come in and only registered mail cant find its damn way? I'm always using the machines with my own packaging, the system is easy to use, I get my stamps and my receipts, then I'm outta there! Haven't had any major shipping issues - yet. The worst post office. Always understaffed. Lines are long. Although some employees been there for years, they dont know what they are doing. Today I was returning a product, bought a box from them, they made me buy a bubble wrap and when I asked if I could use their tape, the worker told me that tape is for priority mail only so I had to buy a tape from them as well. When I was ready to pay she processed it as a priority mail. When I asked her why did she make me buy a tape if I could use their for free she said I didnt know....it cost me $36 total to return an unwanted item. read more

Long lines ALL THE TIME. Lazy, rude employees. They don't forward your mail when you move, and the phone either has a busy signal or they pick it up and hang up immediately because they don't want to talk to anyone. They lie about attempting to deliver something or even leaving orange notices. Then when you show up to ask about it (because you saw online that it was supposedly delivered), you wait there for a half-hour for them to tell you the need the orange notice they never left, and send you home to get the tracking number from online instead of simply looking in the back for a package with your name on it. The worst post office I have ever dealt with in my life. There have been times when I've received big bundles of mail from 6 months earlier that they just never bothered to deliver. This location is so poor that it was quite difficult for me to even give it one star. I have actually had one of the attendants yell at me. Yikes... Ok, I know what you're thinking: post offices are supposed to be bad, right? Not like this. This is seriously the worst post office ever. In the last month, they've lost two pieces of Certified Mail for me. No one cares that you've been there for an hour. They have one window open for serve a long line of people. They'll disappear and never come out to update you and you're just left waiting. After they couldn't find the second piece of Certified Mail, after I waited there an hour, they said they'd deliver it. I had someone wait at home all day and no mail was delivered. I returned once again and spent another 30 minutes waiting for them to find it - mind you, this is waiting for them to look, not including standing in line. Worst.post.office.ever. read more

There were 5 people in front of me, somehow I was still there at 3:45pm. The woman who was tending my papers is laughing and joking and cursing her coworkers out, and I am late for work. I have nothing but problems trying to get packages delivered to me from this post office. I request redelivery by the carrier and all I get is yet another pick-up slip. One of the mail carriers pus my catalogs one inside the other in my mailbox. I not only have to undo them but I'm afraid an important piece of mail is going to get stuck in the catalogs. This review pertains to the USPS in Rego Park, NY... However, I don't think they differ from each other all that much. This will be a brief review, because it sickens me to even think how they go about their business. I'm sure it's budget cuts, short on manpower to an extent, then prioritize your deliveries. USPS has had a track of poor work ethics for some time now, by no means do I speak of all off the USPS workers but majority. When I do see them strolling along with the cart, I'm willing to bet " Tortoise " has more spirit. UPS/Fedex all other carriers beat USPS hands down. Okay, I'm done venting for a moment. I'm a disabled Vet and take medication on the daily basis. Furthermore, I attend college full-time and most of my classes are on-line, and couple traditional way. It goes without saying; I am very lucky to be able to continue with education be at home, perhaps upon degree completion I will apply for USPS work (NOT.) My apology, got off the track here, okay on with the issue for the second time: on most occasions once a month, I have to sign for my medication from V.A, when I check the mail box I have this great-looking pink card inside " Sorry We Missed You. " To Mr. USPS delivery: take some initiative, tiny bit of effort, least you could do is deliver the medication, there is a big stamp on V.A unless you have no idea what that means, then I forgive you for ignorance. Being a combat arms' veteran for over 14 years, I know your job isn't all that difficult, you have a cart on wheels or a vehicle!! Only way I carried my items weighing from 60-80 pounds ruck sack, my transport consisted of military issued boots ( I like to call it the boot express.) Is that possible, when I know for a fact that I was at home studying, the doorbell works like a charm, plus I have a dog that has Napoleon Syndrome (no pun intended my French comrades) when someone nocks on the door, talk about ADT system. read more

I have been going to this post office for many years. Recently I have seen a new manager working there. When I was there a few weeks ago, I was shocked when I saw this Manger berating a Family of 4 who was inquiring about a letter they hadn't received. One girl, about 20, was the person making the inquiry. This manager was rude, condescending, raised his voice multiple times and was just plain outright disrespectful to this Family. I almost interjected, but the conversation ended. The Family was as nice as could be, albiet the girl was frustrated but remained composed. The manager on the other hand lost his temper multiple times and was never ending in his rudeness towards this family, in addition to raisinguis voice multiple times. Unlike Mike who treats all of his customers with respect from what I have seen. I was in the PO yesterday, Friday, and saw this same manager handling another customer who was waiting for her Passport. She was with her son and a baby. I don't know exactly what was going on, but this manager was once again treating this customer in a condescending fashion, and being extremely rude to her inquiries. She just turned and walked out looking very frustrated. I was waiting online to drop off a prepaid return so that I could get a Delivery Acceptance scan & receipt. I have done this on multiple occasions. In the opast the clerk would scan the package and issue me a receipt of Acceptance. Takes seconds to do so. Well the manager saw me online and asked me nicely what service I was looking fo. I explained to him. He said they don't scan those packages here. I explained that I have done so on Multiple occasions. He said they don't do that here and walked away. The clerk refused to scan my package and threw it in the bin. I asked her to please scan the package but she refused. As I was walking to exit, the manager said to me I told you so. I explained that i have received Acceptance Scans before. He said not here you didn't. I said I have done so on multiple occasions. He again said not here. This went back and forth until I told him that he is always having issues with customers from what I have seen in the past. He was effectively saying I didn't do what I said, when I have receipts to prove so. Currently I don't have proof I dropped of the package and am hoping this manager doesn't make my package 'dissappear.' In the past, I have had a package scanned in as delivered to me but was never received Mike, the other manager was looking into that issue for me. It seems as though a temp carrier scanned the package as delivered but never delivered it. I haven't heard since. Regarding the package I dropped off today without receiving a receipt, I have called the Postal Service and have received a case number regarding this matter. I know that I can't be the only customer who has experienced and witnessed the Extreme rudeness of this manager, and I wanted to comment on Yelp about this matter so that hopefully appropriate actions may be taken by perhaps his superiors who may be reading this and the other comments. It is simply not right for customers to have to be subjected to a manager such as this who seems to not know how to deal with customers in a helpful way without him losing his composure. In at least the last 2 iincidents that I have witnessed the customers were female. I'm certain that there have been other customer ewho have either witnessed this managers abhorrent behavior or perhaps have been the target of this behavior. As I've mentioned, Mike the other Manger has been extremely helpful from what I have witnessed, as has been Mr. Diaz, the Manger prior to Mike. As the multitude of 1 star reviews attests, the Forest Hills post office was already a bastion of inept management, apathetic (at best) customer service, and general disorganization. Following this weekend's blizzard, however, we can add "threat to public safety" to the list! The post office was the only building along the entire stretch of Queens Boulevard in Forest Hills to fail to clear the snow on the walkways surrounding it. In fact, with the post office already open for business today (Monday morning following the storm), even the stairs to the main entrance remain blocked by a huge pile of snow. There has clearly been no attempt by the management of the post office to lift a shovel in the interest of the safety of its customers. One can imagine that this is an accident waiting to happen for one of the seniors or disabled people who rely on this institution. Shame on you, management of the Forest Hills post office! read more

sloooow as molasses. better off going to post offices outside of the area so u dont have to put up with this miserable place. i've used the automated postal machine twice to avoid long lines and both times it got sent back to my home for an error or short on postage. i'm no amateur, i use these machines all the time in post offices in midtown by my work. workers are usually on the side of the building outside smoking or slacking off rather than serving customers. no wonder people go with UPS and FEDEX. read more
