Long lines disorganized lazy workers delivers mail to wrong addresses just terrible service altogether

I was passing through this area with a prepaid package to be mailed and noticed this post office. I parked my car in their large lot and walked into the building with my package only to realize they were closed. I was somewhat nervous about dropping my package in the postal box inside; since I had never used this post office before and dropping in the box meant I would not be getting a receipt. I brushed all my apprehensions to the side, took a deep breath and dropped my package in the box that read "out of town." 4 days later and I'm checking the site I make sales on and the status indicates the package is still not scanned and as of 2 more days, the site threatened cancellation. This means I'm going to lose out on the item I sold and the money the buyer paid for the product. Because 4 days is an exorbitant amount of time to process scanning a prepaid label on a package, I traveled back to the post office in an effort to get some type of resolve. When I walked in I couldn't believe how long that line was. The line spanned all the way to the back of the post office and there was not one bit of social distancing involved. Flustered by what I saw, I walked out and vowed to never go back. Fortunately the next day, the buyer ended up receiving his/her package. I suppose I'm still wondering how and why this post office didn't scan the item so it could be tracked. I still am not certain if it's an error brought on by the town post office or if perhaps there was updating negligence on behalf of my selling site. All I know is this hasn't happened previously in the 5 years I've been selling so again, I don't intend to ever use their establishment again and no, I don't recommend. read more

I would give this branch zero stars if i could but it has to be 1. Much like the general consensus here already mentioned the service is a joke. Several times when my package was suppose to arrive the day of and I don't receive it they either blow smoke up my rear to cover their workers. Recently I was scheduled to receive my package on december 8th 2018 but at 7:12 pm they claimed on their tracking page "we attempted to deliver your package at 7:12 pm on December 8, 2018 in East Orange, NJ 07018 but could not access the delivery location. we will redeliver on the next business day." my location just has a porch with a box you drop the mail in, no gates, no dogs, nothing! Fine, I called this branch up directly at 6:55 pm on 12/10/18 when there was no mail again big effing surprise!!! and when i explained what happened i just got a terse and rough "they're still out there". No apologies, no phone courtesy, nothing. When the last message on 12/8/18 said that at seven twelve pm they just pretty much said "eff it and turned around". What makes you think they wouldn't do that again especially as late as it got??? What do you have to do to give that place an enema and hire competent workers who actually gives a damn?! Do not use this postal service under any circumstance. I sent an express mail on Nov 25th for next Day delivery in order to pay off a large loan I had. Item was never scanned apparently, and 5 Days later still no update costing me $$$ more money to have a cashier re issue. I strongly believe my item was scanned and once they noticed a check with a large amount they decided to possibly steal some information to sell it on the black market. It is so sad that every time I have to get state work done in New Jersey, I have to ride out of my county (Essex) to get something done. I tried to stay in Essex county to get my passport work sent out, which I had made an appointment for a week in advance through USPS. When I arrived, there was a light traffic flow, but people were still very unsure what line to get in or who to talk to. When it was my turn to speak to a post office worker, they had informed me that the person who does passports left for the day, even though the appointment was confirmed. With no explanation as to why or who to speak to in East Orange post office about the strange matter, they directed me to another post office in Clifton who had the same terrible and slow customer service. My package has been out for delivery since May 16, 2022, today is May 18, 2022 and the package has still not been updated to being delivered! I had to open up a case with the USPS and I was told that I would receive a call within 1-2 business days. Only 2 hours after opening up the case, someone named "Joseph" from the East Orange post office closed the case without investigating my package and PATHOLOGICALLY LIED about contacting me! My phone NEVER rang, the post office NEVER contacted me and my package has still NOT been updated to being delivered. This post office needs to DO BETTER. It's sad that I have to get my packages delivered to my Upper East Side retail job that I work at and I get my mail 100% of the time. Just because this is "East Orange" doesn't mean that you have to rush and do your job incorrectly. This Post Office sucks!! I called to complain about not getting my mail in a timely manner and a so-called Supervisor answers the phone after the Main Office closes @ 12pm for some stupid reason. I tell her about my problem in not getting my mail from my P.O. Box at the Evergreen Location that I really saw as a great location, now I have changed my mind. The Supervisor takes up for the Clerk there saying that there is nothing she can do and that "she was doing me a favor in answering the phone". My Korean friend send me a package from Korea and paid for express shipping due to time-sensitive items in the package. The day the package was to be delivered, I purposely wrote a note and taped it to our mailbox stating that I was home and to ring the doorbell multiple time. Throughout the day, I continue to track the package. Out of nowhere at 5:45pm, it said I missed the package and a note was left. BIG LIE!! The doorbell never rang. The same thing happened last month. And when I went online to schedule a redelivery, it was never delivered. The worse part of all this, the post office hours simply does not work with my work hours. Monday through Friday, you can only pick up packages from 10am to 4pm, and Saturday 9am to 12pm. So I had to wait WHOLE week to pick up my package on Saturday. East orange post office at city hall plaza has a thief every time my regular mail man is off on his weekend I don't receive. Mail on Saturday's sometimes they are small envelope packages and they always disappear and they lie and say they were delivered I have a ring doorbell that captures everything and they still lie to my face and they don't deal with the missing packages and the post master and his supervisor lie and say we investigated and it was delivered. I try to never leave anyone a bad review. Unfornuately, I have to in this situation. I recently moved to East Orange, NJ and now I have to deal with a horrible post office. This place is the WORST. I cannot say that all of the staff are rude but the ones that I have encountered are. The delivery person DOES NOT want to actually deliver my packages. It makes me question if I am getting all of my mail. I live on the 4th floor of a 4 story building with an elevator. I cannot understand why I have no problem with UPS and FEDEX delivering my packages but my local post office cannot do the same. I consistantly receive undelivered notices inside of my locked mailbox (which proves they are inside the building), yet no one can use the intercom system to find out if I am home or not. I am forced to go to the post office and pick up my packages. This process requires a long wait on line to hear your name called among others. The last time I went, they called my name along with someone elses' name and she ran up and grabbed my package. "Happlily" she opened it when she reached her car and then realized it was not hers and returned it. The East Orange Postal System is the reason why the United States Post Office is going broke. They are HORRIBLE. Some examples: I literally put 20 invitations in the mail on the same day. Only half the people got their invites. Randomly, someone in Ohio got their invite, but someone in Fort Lee didn't. The invites were never returned so I have no clue where they are. Perhaps about 10 Post Office employees will show up at the shower, invites in hand? I went to the post office to mail a package to my sister in Harlem. It literally took 10 days for her to get the package -- which coincidentally is right before mail is considered lost! I live in a building with a 24-7 doorman. I was supposed to get a priority mail package. By 5 (which coincidentally is quitting time), I still haven't received it. Instead I had an emailed notice that claimed the Postman attempted to deliver my mail but no one was at the residence so they left a sticky note on my door. Again, I have a doorman. He was at the desk the time they said they stopped by. He saw no one. There also was no note stuck on the door. It sounded like someone was too lazy to do their job so they pretended like they attempted to deliver my package. Again, this is a horrible post office. Don't ever use it. If you have to, get in your car and drive an hour away to another post office to drop off mail. I'm going to complain to the Postmaster or whoever it is that's in charge about how horrible that place is. read more
