east orang-Dodd Town is the worst post office in Essex County. the carrier who is the same lady never puts the mail in it's correct box. She puts all the mail in on box & it's only 2 floors with Names clearly visible. made countless complaints nothing done. now we don't even get mail all week when mail has been sent out weeks ago and not received. read more

Long lines disorganized lazy workers delivers mail to wrong addresses just terrible service altogether

I was passing through this area with a prepaid package to be mailed and noticed this post office. I parked my car in their large lot and walked into the building with my package only to realize they were closed. I was somewhat nervous about dropping my package in the postal box inside; since I had never used this post office before and dropping in the box meant I would not be getting a receipt. I brushed all my apprehensions to the side, took a deep breath and dropped my package in the box that read "out of town." 4 days later and I'm checking the site I make sales on and the status indicates the package is still not scanned and as of 2 more days, the site threatened cancellation. This means I'm going to lose out on the item I sold and the money the buyer paid for the product. Because 4 days is an exorbitant amount of time to process scanning a prepaid label on a package, I traveled back to the post office in an effort to get some type of resolve. When I walked in I couldn't believe how long that line was. The line spanned all the way to the back of the post office and there was not one bit of social distancing involved. Flustered by what I saw, I walked out and vowed to never go back. Fortunately the next day, the buyer ended up receiving his/her package. I suppose I'm still wondering how and why this post office didn't scan the item so it could be tracked. I still am not certain if it's an error brought on by the town post office or if perhaps there was updating negligence on behalf of my selling site. All I know is this hasn't happened previously in the 5 years I've been selling so again, I don't intend to ever use their establishment again and no, I don't recommend. read more

I would give this branch zero stars if i could but it has to be 1. Much like the general consensus here already mentioned the service is a joke. Several times when my package was suppose to arrive the day of and I don't receive it they either blow smoke up my rear to cover their workers. Recently I was scheduled to receive my package on december 8th 2018 but at 7:12 pm they claimed on their tracking page "we attempted to deliver your package at 7:12 pm on December 8, 2018 in East Orange, NJ 07018 but could not access the delivery location. we will redeliver on the next business day." my location just has a porch with a box you drop the mail in, no gates, no dogs, nothing! Fine, I called this branch up directly at 6:55 pm on 12/10/18 when there was no mail again big effing surprise!!! and when i explained what happened i just got a terse and rough "they're still out there". No apologies, no phone courtesy, nothing. When the last message on 12/8/18 said that at seven twelve pm they just pretty much said "eff it and turned around". What makes you think they wouldn't do that again especially as late as it got??? What do you have to do to give that place an enema and hire competent workers who actually gives a damn?! Ya hate someone? Force them to move to East Orange and have their mail be delivered or rather ignored/lost/burned/dropped into a sewer/god knows effing what by these chucklef*cks on a regular basis! The staff there can go freely gargle freshly used Penn station toilet water!!!! Update: 12/10/18 8:38 pm, still no package or mail again. Big f*cking surprise. Update #2: after being on the phone for 2 hours with the USPS I finally got through and reported their @$$. everyone, if you have a problem with the branch as soon as you realize what happened contact the USPS immediately and bombard them with complaints. You can email them, there no wait. In the future any more b.s. happens I'm reporting it, eff them. Update #3: 12/17/18 MOTHERF*CKERS LOST MY PACKAGE. Typical... read more

US Post Office - Y'all know what to do. - Post Offices Near Me - East Orange, New Jersey

This post office has the worst customer service. I hate when I order things from Amazon and it comes USPS. Their delivery service is never on time. They always say they don't have access when literally all they have to do is ring the bell. I notice a lot of complaints about this location but obviously they don't care because it's been like this for years. That's why post office will soon be a thing of the past. SMH. read more

Literally cannot describe how inept this East orange post office is and their workers and their inability to deliver anything that is not a letter that goes into a mail box. If you need a package expect for them to never even try and to deliver and just expect to pick it up at their post office, which is run by snotty workers who communicate like animals with the customers. I would pay extra if I could to never have packages delivered through usps, they are the ONLY carrier incapable of delivering boxes to my apartment. no one else has an issue. read more

terrible spot, post office workers are terrible, if you come here and pick up a package the workers behind the back talk and goof around because they're that bored and they hire anybody too. plus they almost never check/have what you're looking for read more

I am rating this one star because there is no other selection for '0' . Why oh why do they have to lie. I was awaiting a package and based upon information on their notice, the package was scheduled to be relieved that day around 7:00 p.m. Since there have been several robberies of packages in the neighborhood, I decided to watch and wait from my window. I literally was in the window for approximately 2 hours. Well, around 6:35 p.m. (still in window) I looked at computer and saw that at 6:27 p.m. the item was delivered by post office and left in/at mailbox. BIG LIE! When I notified the Post Office of what had occurred, the excuses went into full gear. I was told the carrier was not in yet and I would receive a call as soon as they spoke with him......never happened. The next day I was told it would arrive either the next day or the day after.....BIG LIE i realize things get lost. What I don't understand is why do they have to . LIE read more

This is the worse every time I come here the wait is crazy they have more than enough employees in the back but it seems like every time they finish with one customer they have to leave the window to do something, so what there's a bunch of customers waiting and theres no social distancing inside at all it be so many people inside isn't it supposed to be a certain amount of people Inside? There's no order at all inside.I don't understand what be taking so long I'm not an impatient person but the wait time is ridiculous seriously. read more

I would give no stars of I could. They don't answer the phone lie about not being able to access to deliver mail when they never show up tot he building at all. And ur stuck in limbo wondering where your mail is. And let's not forget when it says delivered but it wasn't to u and your stuck running around on hold all day to find out no information on your package and if it's heavy they don't want to deliver it they leave a slip so you have to pick it up. Forget u paid for shipping but that doesn't matter to them because it's heavy. It's a total headache. read more

Do not use this postal service under any circumstance. I sent an express mail on Nov 25th for next Day delivery in order to pay off a large loan I had. Item was never scanned apparently, and 5 Days later still no update costing me $$$ more money to have a cashier re issue. I strongly believe my item was scanned and once they noticed a check with a large amount they decided to possibly steal some information to sell it on the black market. Very sad no one cares and will always pushed the blame on someone else. I hope they are replaced with robots one day because their no need for them . Thieves read more

It is so sad that every time I have to get state work done in New Jersey, I have to ride out of my county (Essex) to get something done. I tried to stay in Essex county to get my passport work sent out, which I had made an appointment for a week in advance through USPS. When I arrived, there was a light traffic flow, but people were still very unsure what line to get in or who to talk to. When it was my turn to speak to a post office worker, they had informed me that the person who does passports left for the day, even though the appointment was confirmed. With no explanation as to why or who to speak to in East Orange post office about the strange matter, they directed me to another post office in Clifton who had the same terrible and slow customer service. Essex County has failed me and continues to fail me, so please take your business elsewhere if you don't want to be screwed over. read more

US Post Office - This is the real world and I cant just yell or hurt someone so i have to write a yelp review. - Post Offices Near Me - East Orange, New Jersey

Zero Stars! No one ever picks up the telephone at this East Orange, NJ post office! My package has been out for delivery since May 16, 2022, today is May 18, 2022 and the package has still not been updated to being delivered! I had to open up a case with the USPS and I was told that I would receive a call within 1-2 business days. Only 2 hours after opening up the case, someone named "Joseph" from the East Orange post office closed the case without investigating my package and PATHOLOGICALLY LIED about contacting me! My phone NEVER rang, the post office NEVER contacted me and my package has still NOT been updated to being delivered. Based on all of the negative reviews and my recent experience, this post office needs to be investigated! read more

This post office needs to DO BETTER. It's sad that I have to get my packages delivered to my Upper East Side retail job that I work at and I get my mail 100% of the time. Just because this is "East Orange" doesn't mean that you have to rush and do your job incorrectly. Ring the apartment bell, keep your finger on it for at least 5 seconds and make sure you are reading the correct apartment numbers. Just go the extra mile. We need the post office to do better for this community. read more

This Post Office sucks!! I called to complain about not getting my mail in a timely manner and a so-called Supervisor answers the phone after the Main Office closes @ 12pm for some stupid reason. I tell her about my problem in not getting my mail from my P.O. Box at the Evergreen Location that I really saw as a great location, now I have changed my mind. The Supervisor takes up for the Clerk there saying that there is nothing she can do and that "she was doing me a favor in answering the phone". I find this Main Office very unprofessional and not good Customer Service. No wonder the Postal Service is loosing money, because of people like this that work at the East Orange Post Office. I am going to find another Post Office Box in West Orange, New Jersey. At least they know how to treat a Customer. read more

The same experience Andrew P had is what I have experienced the past two months. My Korean friend send me a package from Korea and paid for express shipping due to time-sensitive items in the package. The day the package was to be delivered, I purposely wrote a note and taped it to our mailbox stating that I was home and to ring the doorbell multiple time. Throughout the day, I continue to track the package. Out of nowhere at 5:45pm, it said I missed the package and a note was left. BIG LIE!! The doorbell never rang. The same thing happened last month. And when I went online to schedule a redelivery, it was never delivered. The worse part of all this, the post office hours simply does not work with my work hours. Monday through Friday, you can only pick up packages from 10am to 4pm, and Saturday 9am to 12pm. So I had to wait WHOLE week to pick up my package on Saturday. So pretty much my friend wasted her money paying for express. Plus, it took me AN HOUR just to pick it up today. Long line, long wait, and only two people working behind the counter. If it wasn't for living in East Orange, I would never use this post office. Absolutely the worse. read more

The USPS is fine~ There are those who find reasons to complain even if you kiss their *** they will complain it was too far to the right or to far to the left, your lips were to wet, or to dry, you kissed to fast, or too slow, too long or to brief, your lips were too hot or too cold...you cannot please everyone at 82 and having been in raised in retail before I was a teen; mother taught me that some people will wake up looking for a reason to complain about having wakened up; to ignore their complaint, be courteous and polite, wishing them a happy day. having dealt with the USPS most of my life; more often than most because my business made it necessary, I can honestly say I have only observed customers being treated with respect. as the workers would take their Sugar Honey Ice Tea from customers with grace. read more

I ask myself "Why take the time outta my life to write a review of the USPS?" Like really who bothers to check the reviews of the local Post Office before going in? Who at the USPS would care enough to even read it and make drastic changes after realizing how horrible this particular location is? Well SURPRISE!!! The answer is nobody! And since nobody really cares, this is more of a rant than a review. The lines are typically very long. Despite this fact they seem to refuse to increase staff at this location. God forgive you if you show up 15-20mins before they close and have to do something that will cause you to be there a minute past closing. Closing to them doesn't mean our doors are open to our "customers" until closing. To them it means "Alright motherfuckers it's closing time hurry the fuck up & get out!!" Oh and by the way if you are naive as to think that you can show up right at closing or maybe a minute or two after & be served. Think again, because minutes before closing someone comes from behind the counter as to further the shortage of staff to stand guard at the door to not let anyone else in & let those who are trapped in out. May god be with you if you are forced to utilize this location. read more

Nothing fancy to say here. These bastards lost my package and won't reimburse me for it. The carrier says she delivered it and that's all they have to say. I try to never leave anyone a bad review. Unfornuately, I have to in this situation. I recently moved to East Orange, NJ and now I have to deal with a horrible post office. This place is the WORST. I cannot say that all of the staff are rude but the ones that I have encountered are. The delivery person DOES NOT want to actually deliver my packages. It makes me question if I am getting all of my mail. I live on the 4th floor of a 4 story building with an elevator. I cannot understand why I have no problem with UPS and FEDEX delivering my packages but my local post office cannot do the same. I consistantly receive undelivered notices inside of my locked mailbox (which proves they are inside the building), yet no one can use the intercom system to find out if I am home or not. I am forced to go to the post office and pick up my packages. This process requires a long wait on line to hear your name called among others. The last time I went, they called my name along with someone elses' name and she ran up and grabbed my package. "Happlily" she opened it when she reached her car and then realized it was not hers and returned it. I am seriously considering paying the extra money in order to have my packages delivered only by UPS and FEDEX. read more

I have being dealing with them for 2 years now. They use to call me and practically curse me to say they are not redelivering my mail. They don't deliver they don't do redelivery and once you file a complaint they make it their mission to make it hard for you to get your mail. I start a YouTube channel just to document their behavior. East orange post office at city hall plaza has a thief every time my regular mail man is off on his weekend I don't receive. Mail on Saturday's sometimes they are small envelope packages and they always disappear and they lie and say they were delivered I have a ring doorbell that captures everything and they still lie to my face and they don't deal with the missing packages and the post master and his supervisor lie and say we investigated and it was delivered. Well I got news for you I see everything that happens on my porch and all the way across the street. I decided to add to my review I haven't received any mail since Friday June 5 2020. I looked at the usps website we clearly had mail. So I would like to know where my mail is at. read more

Absolutely the worst post office in the county. The workers are so unhelpful, you have to wait a ridiculous amount of time to get tour items. The pick up line is never efficient. I wish there was another post office I can reroute my items to. I would rather drive to Elizabeth post office then deal with the east orange post office. They hate there job and honestly you shouldn't be working with the public if you don't have good people skills. I wish they would fire all who work there and start with a better crew of individuals. Its the holiday season and they still suck read more

There's nothing I can't say that hasn't already been said. This and all Post Office suck. Service is always slow. The East Orange Postal System is the reason why the United States Post Office is going broke. They are HORRIBLE. Some examples: I literally put 20 invitations in the mail on the same day. Only half the people got their invites. Randomly, someone in Ohio got their invite, but someone in Fort Lee didn't. The invites were never returned so I have no clue where they are. Perhaps about 10 Post Office employees will show up at the shower, invites in hand? I went to the post office to mail a package to my sister in Harlem. It literally took 10 days for her to get the package -- which coincidentally is right before mail is considered lost! I live in a building with a 24-7 doorman. I was supposed to get a priority mail package. By 5 (which coincidentally is quitting time), I still haven't received it. Instead I had an emailed notice that claimed the Postman attempted to deliver my mail but no one was at the residence so they left a sticky note on my door. Again, I have a doorman. He was at the desk the time they said they stopped by. He saw no one. There also was no note stuck on the door. It sounded like someone was too lazy to do their job so they pretended like they attempted to deliver my package. Again, this is a horrible post office. Don't ever use it. If you have to, get in your car and drive an hour away to another post office to drop off mail. I'm going to complain to the Postmaster or whoever it is that's in charge about how horrible that place is. read more

Horrible service they say your package is out for delivery and you never receive package that day.

If it were possible to give NO STARS, I would have. This is the WORST post office I've ever stepped foot in. The staff is very rude to every single customer, at times even refused to give information to people with questions and just shrugged them off. In addition, the mail man NEVER rings bell for packages. I've caught him TWICE just leaving the slip on the door and walking away. If you're planning on picking up the package, schedule at least an hour of your day for this. It'll be PACKED no matter what time of the day it is. read more

The only reason I gave a star is, if I don't then I can't post a comment..smh.. this post office is the worse post office in the WORLD... the people that work here are the ones who basically got rejected to work in the better locations so they dump they asses here in East Orange. That's just how I see it. They lazy, they don't follow the USPS protocols and neither the Mayor of East Orange or USPS gives two turds about it. MAYBE we will hear a peep from the Mayor about this when it's time for re-election, until then we (East Orange community) are on our own with these morons. All I have to say is if we went to another town post office with ppl of less "melaninated" skin complexions, this wouldn't even be a topic of discussion cause all of them would be fired and I DARE SOMEONE TO ARGUE ME WRONG ABOUT THAT...I call a spade a spade. I don't expect much from society cause we already f**ked with this clown in office, but I do expect ppl to do their damn jobs and do it accordingly...this post office is full of bunch of idiots who only come to work just to sit and do nothing. I advise you to NOT to use USPS if you live in EO. If you miss the delivery of your package - you will have to come to this "DUMP" for pickup. A typical "ghetto" place where they don't give a flying 'pluck' about the ghetto. However, people that are coming in to use this facility are equally bad!! ... and I say this simply because - people are mad with the EO facility, but yet are not doing ANYTHING whatsoever about it!! Take a look, and see how many Yelp reviews. Not many!! ... Simply because, ALL PEOPLE DO IS COMPLAIN; and do not fight for change!! Other neighborhoods would hold a town hall meeting on issue like this; and get it corrected!! Why SHOULD this EO Post Office change their ways?! Why SHOULD EO Post Office give'a dammmm?! Unfortunately, this facility will ALWAYS be in this condition; mainly because this environment is conditioned to NOT FIGHT, or DEMAND BETTER!!
