The mail carriers for my area are absolutely horrible. After several calls I can not get the carrier to close my mailbox flap. It seems like a simple task but they simply will not do it. I often get mail soaked from the rain. It's so annoying that a simple request can not be resolved. I guess it's time to contact the national post master. The Columbus, GA Post Office is in serious need of reorganization or an overhaul. Our mail is not delivered consistently - sometimes it never shows up even though images were included in the USPS Informed Delivery app/dashboard. Submitting a complaint at the Milgen Road location gets nowhere - never received a response and the missing mail never shows up. Additionally, for some reason, most, if not all, of the blue external mailboxes have mysteriously disappeared around Columbus. It's very inconvenient to have to park and go into the post office to mail a letter since we no longer leave outgoing mail in our mailbox because it gets left behind. I have only visited this post office once. It is quite dated on the inside and does not have the self-service technology that many other post offices have. With that said, be prepared to stand in line. The workers were nice enough and apologized for each customer for the wait. The one plus is that it is located in a plaza, so parking should not be an issue. read more

The service in the Midland post office is always fabulous. The counter person is friendly, pleasant, and knowledgeable.

I walk in and theres only a few people, they are helped and move threw quickly, a gentleman helps me like he knew everything about me before I even knew why I was there. He asked all the right questions and had me sitting pretty before I had time to think. The carriers tho... they deliver the wrong mail over and over, from previous residents, they ignore the mailbox label that the people on the phone TOLD ME to put in there so that they know who the current resident is. Label "Current Resident Only, (My name)". They do not pick it back up when you leave it out and even label it return to sender, for them. Like I've been told to do. They have left peoples mail until it was blowing all over the ground, and not only from my box. Literally peoples mail just blowing all over the ground for weeks. Ive called the Atl headquarters, nothing changed, Ive called them 6-7+ times and asked them to stop any mail to this address that doesn't have my name, they told me multiple times that they would make a note or fix it and that hasn't worked. I finally had someone on the phone level with me and tell me that if my carrier just doesn't care, then they don't care and there is nothing that I can do. And that if previous residents never changed there address with the senders, then they must not care about it so I don't need to either. I've even seen a carrier dropping packages on the ground and kicking them around. Im pretty sure they even had a strike or something, not to long ago. Bc they were refusing to deliver any mail to my area for a while. So people just had to go directly to pick everything up. Wtf. This place is crazy and doesn't give a shiz. I get my mail as far as I know, other than the strike, but with it being like this who knows. And its all at a cost of ALOT of annoyance and inconvenience. For me and everyone else. This place is a joke. Tried calling SEVERAL different times today. Each time it doesn't give you prompts it takes you straight to the "operator" where it rings for random times from one minute to three and a half minutes. It's ridiculous. I've been trying to call them because they incorrectly picked up a package that was for ups yesterday. Now I have no idea where my package is. No way to get a hold of them and my mail person is always yelling on the phone when she delivers stuff (I say yelling because I can hear her normally walking up on the phone with someone). Called the post office this morning because I put in a change of address over a week ago and still haven't gotten anything that was being held by them. Which i know is being held because I have informed delivery. The first time I called the post office they picked up the phone and hung up on me and the second time they picked up didn't say anything at all and put me on hold and I've been on hold for 10 minutes now. I'm the office manager for a realty company and I don't have time to sit on hold yet here I am waiting on them. I'm so glad my office doesn't do business like this as it is very rude. I guess I'll have to go down to the post office myself and see if they have what they are claiming they delivered when I know they it was never delivered. It totally depends on who you talk to at this location. The lines are often unnecessarily long (because of lackadaisical service), and there's no excuse for the postmaster being unavailable and unresponsive, or for the phone to go completely unanswered. Some of these "civil servants" are not worth the skin it takes to hold their guts inside, and are clearly just putting in their time until they can collect government pensions, knowing it's nearly impossible for them to be fired. But working right beside them are some others (one I met named Linda, for example) who are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and even efficient. The ones who are complete wastes of space are likely being paid exactly the same as the few fine individuals who seem to take their jobs seriously (and are probably the ones doing all the work.) This points to a terrible failure on the part of the office's management; any guesses which type HE was before he was appointed postmaster? read more

Great customer service. They have a Postmaster readily available to assist and redirect in the line to ease confusion and answer questions before you get up to the counter. She helped me package and tape my box while in line! Granted the lines can get long, but what do you expect, it's a post office! All in all, they try their best to ease inconveniences by putting a postmaster in the line to help out. read more

US Post Office - Love this old mailbox in the lobby! - Post Offices Near Me - Columbus, Georgia

This branch is run in a highly shady and questionable way. The postmaster, who is probably earning at least 75K a year if not 100K, apparently doesn't come in to work, EVER. I was told by staff that they have no way to reach or communicate with him. I was given the phone number for the postmaster's "secretary" but her phone just rings and rings, no matter what time of day you call, no voicemail. I went to the main post office on Milgen Road to try to straighten out issues with incorrect deliveries that have been happening on an off for years in my neighborhood (the postal delivery person sometimes does not even look at the address before shoving a bunch of mail in a box, and I once had a huge client check go missing because it was delivered to a local church and sat on someone's desk for months). One day I received mail for five different houses. I asked to speak to the delivery supervisor in charge of my zip code, and she REFUSED to come speak with me. She told the front desk person, "Say I'm not here." The front desk people are apparently sick of her unprofessional behavior and failure to do her job (and they pointed to a stack of complaints she refuses to look at) but there's nothing they can do because the postmaster is apparently MIA. The place is a circus, and tax dollars are definitely being wasted in paying people, from the postmaster on down, who refuse to do their jobs. The front desk people are awesome, and they deserve a raise. How about fire the postmaster and the "say I'm not here" supervisor and promote a competent front desk person. read more

The VaHi location hours are limited so definitely check it out before you head there. They are very nice and acommodating, but lines can be long depending on the time that you go. Parking is very easy as well (either in front on the street or park in the lot). read more

I have an issue with this Post Office. I went there to let them know the lock on my mailbox is broken an it needs to be replaced. They told me I would have to pay $25.00 to get it fixed. First of all this is your property an you shouldn't charge me $25.00 to fix it. Secondly either your not putting my mail in my mailbox or it's being put in someone's mailbox. Thirdly it seems like the only time I get my mail is on Mondays. I should be getting mail everyday. My husband receives his medication from the VA an some how it gets put in the wrong mailbox. Lastly someone is stealing my mail or it's going back to the Post Office. I was waiting on a People Magazine that my mom signed me up for an I never received that People Magazine. Stop passing the buck an do y'all's job. Read the name an address on the mail an put it in the correct mailbox. This is the worst Post Office. I've ordered merchandise from Amazon an eBay an on my tracking information it shows up as delivered but when I go to get the package it's not there. My grandmother worked in the Post Office in Arlington VA as a mail sorter an she always made sure that the mail going out was correct an got to the right address. The postal carrier just left 2 packages on top of snow, with no protective plastic covering on boxes. Last week the postal carrier placed a box in a puddle of water with a plastic bag over the top of the box, resulting in a soaked box. Surely these carriers must either have some training or some level of common sense in order to be hired and retained? It sure does not seem like they do lately. I have traveled the world and lived in a half-dozen Third World countries and I have never experienced the kind of slovenly incompetence that reigns supreme at this post office. They are the worst of the worst. It is no wonder the USPS is bankrupt and struggling for survival. The employees are lazy, arrogant, and dismissive, having clearly received their jobs based on government quotas rather than actual skill or the ability to even sell a stamp in a polite and efficient manner. I have had the misfortune of visiting this travesty about 8 times in two months. What a train wreck! 25 minutes minimum in line! Dull, sloths that shuffle off never to return while dozens wait for service. Every clerk seems irritated that anyone would have the nerve visit the PO. But the most intolerable of all is the attitude that they just don't give a crap. These people know they will get paid no matter what they do and they know they'll have government pensions and insurance and that no amount of laziness or incompetence or rudeness will ever get them fired because they exist in the unreal candyland world of government employment. This review is for the Post Office in general- not just this office. Their service sucks!!!! I am spending a fortune on Priority Mail to my daughter who lives outside Anchorage, AK. with her military husband. Priority Mail is supposed to take 2-3 days. It is taking the Post Office 7 or 8 days to deliver Priority Mail!!! It is VERY expensive to pay for Priority Mail. I know Alaska is far away from where I live in GA., so I would be willing to forgive a delay of a day or 2 and would accept 4 or 5 day delivery to Alaska, but not 8 days!!!! The Post Office also refuses to deliver to an apartment door, so even when the package finally arrives, if the apt. office is closed (like on a Saturday!!!!), they take the package back to the Post Office!!! Fed-X and UPS will deliver right to the apartment door! Now I must send a 2-day package to my daughter for Christmas, so I am going to try Express Mail, but very doubtful the Post Office will deliver on time. read more
