AWFUL post office. i went to drop off a depop PREPAID (buyer paid for shipping cost) package so all the employee had to do was SCAN THE BARCODE. it was crowded, understaffed, and moving at a turtle pace. apparently my package weighed slightly over 8oz. mind you, it was only a tank top, a pair of shorts, socks, and a sticker, all of which were xxs! there's no label for every specific weight possible and depop makes the label based on how much the item itself weighs. my label was on perfectly. the weight was the only issue. the employee had it on the scale for .2 seconds, shook it around and declared, "this is heavier than 8oz." luckily, i didn't have anything delicate in there, but is it really that hard to let it slide? her work day was pretty much over. i was also confused when she refused to scan it entirely, and scolded me to remake the label, which meant waiting in the comically long self service line. it was 15 mins till close and the line looked it was going nowhere, so i left, forced to carry the package around until i commuted back home. i'm not going to refund a buyer because an employee says the package is a little heavier than expected. that would mean i make no money, the refund takes forever to process on both ends, and i would have to make a new listing entirely for the buyer. my fault i don't have the exact cookie cutter package you were looking for?! i didn't take honors post office 101 girl do not come here if you want to ship something quickly or if you want to be treated with respect!!! read more

I don't know what the deal is with this location of the USPS but I've never experienced a more incompetent branch in my life. Every time I come, either there aren't enough people staffed so it's closed, they only have one person working at sloth speed so the line takes forever, or the self scan QR kiosk is broken so the sloth speed line is twice the size. The employees clearly hate their jobs, which is fair because this place is miserable, but every time I visit I'm actually in awe how horribly this location is run. For such a high traffic location (I've never experienced a slow day, no matter the day or time) you would think it would be more important to the USPS to staff and take care of correctly. read more

Someone broke into our building lobby at 3 am using a mail delivery key from this post office and they stole all our mail including someone's credit card. They broke into mailboxes all down Lincoln Park West as well. Police did nothing. Post office did nothing. They have slightly improved the experience when you go visit in person and the woman at the counter is always kind and helpful and probably needs a raise! I'm actually moving away from this postal delivery area because part of my income is reliant on efficient and safe/dependable USPS service and you won't be getting that at this Lincoln Park/DePaul area location that is serving this part of Old Town Triangle. Shocking this place just never receives improvement despite hundreds of 1 star reviews, complaints, and calls to the Postmaster and Inspector General. It's a tragedy. I am a huge advocate of the USPS. I hope we can maintain this service in our country, and that this local travesty gets addressed properly soon. read more

I lived in a lot of places, I've never experienced worse service from USPS. They have returned packages to sender claiming undeliverable address. I've had them sign for important packages and leave them outside. Ive had a package disappear for weeks because it had bars of metal that looked valuable. out for delivery means nothing. I had a package stolen last month after dropping it off at this location. I used the self-service kiosk, scanned it, and left it on the counter--but the package was never tracked or delivered. Since the kiosk doesn't provide any proof of drop-off, I had no way to prove it was accepted. Lesson learned. This time, I decided to wait in line just to have my prepaid package scanned by an actual employee. After waiting, the employee simply told me to use the kiosk--again! Meanwhile, there was already a line of people at the kiosk too. Why can't you just scan my package when I'm standing right in front of you? The staff here are lazy and rude. Made the mistake of coming back here. 1:45 again on a day they are supposed to be open until 3:00pm. Lights on but doors locked and no signage or signs of an employee. 3 other people behind me trying to ship packages as well. Every single one of us had had a previous experience with them being closed during regular hours. I think whoever works the Saturday shift just locks up early. Picture it: Yuletide. Holiday spirit flowing through you and holiday cards ready to send. The stamps that you ordered via the post office official website exactly one month ago (order placed 11/15/21, today being 12/15/21) have yet to grace your mailbox. So time to go to the post office even though you explicitly tried to plan to avoid that. Luckily the post office here on Sheffield is often not terribly busy, and it's open until 6:30, and it's right in the middle of several other errands! Oh, but a holiday surprise: Despite multiple indications on the door that it's open until 6:00, the website stating the same, and the door to the lobby being unlocked, the place is actually closed by 5:45 pm. Oh what fun to see that you're not the only one who thought the posted time was a commitment rather than a suggestion, as half a dozen others also try to post their holiday parcels. The post office sucks so hard. I honestly didn't think they could possibly get worse than stealing $25 since my stamps haven't shown up. What a horrible, horrible experience. The person working today was a half an hour late and there was 6-7 of us waiting. When she finally showed up with an obviously annoyed face expression, as she was opening the door the person next to me whom I was talking to while waiting was telling me something, and the clerk rudely asked her 'what did you say?' Worst post office, the person working here closed the store before closing time because she was overwhelmed. She proceeded to lock the door so nobody could get in OR OUT! I mail via priority mail a package at the Sheffield USPS n dropped off a couple get well cards to be mailed (the cards had a gift card inside them) 1 month later, the priority mail package is lost n USPS can't find it even with the tracking # n the 2get well cards were never delivered. Truly awful. Been here a few times and there's always some issue like they say they can't perform basic services or their machine is down and can't take any payments except for one specific one that you likely won't have. There is always at least one employee talking loudly about their personal problems or that one employee with lots of sass that ruins your day. If you need to purchase stamps or and other postal paraphernalia this post office will suffice. However, if you are looking for professional friendly service chances of that happening are slim to none. Mailing anything important and/or time sensitive, forget about it. On October 21 I came in to mail an important payment by Certified Mail to Saint Louis, and paid $7.85 for the service. Their computer malfunctioned and wouldn't print a receipt for me. I waited 5-6 minutes and I asked the person who helped me if I needed to wait for the receipt. She said no and told me the number was on the certified mail certificate that they gave me. Having noticed that my check hadn't cleared my bank account I tried to track it. Well surprise, surprise she out and out lied, as there was no record of my "tracking number" at all when I tried to track it. read more

There were only three employees working extremely hard to take care of everyone in line and doing so with respect and urgency. This location has the most passive aggressive employees. When you visit get ready to deal with that. Bring some witty comebacks with you. I swear the post office sucks the living soul out of anyone who works there & the employees feed on our misery to keep them alive. It's like they hate every single person that comes through the door just because they came through the door. I unfortunately had to drop off a pre-paid box here because it was a little larger & couldn't fit in an outside collection box. When I got there the drop box right at the entrance was jammed so I had to walk up to the counter & my gawd were they just terrible for a simple drop off. This lady had her mask on her chin, coughed into the air, no name tag & then had enough energy to sass me about the jammed drop box because I mentioned the jam to her. I came in and there was a sign on the door saying they closed for lunch but would come back at 1 pm. I came in past 1 and they were still closed. I know sometimes staff is short and it's hard to time out lunches when there is no one to cover, but I waited a good 20 minutes and they still never opened. Based on what the other people waiting with me were complaining about among themselves regarding this location, it's not worth coming here if you can access a different USPS. read more

I keep my expectations low when I go to the post office but this location is truly a mess. The self service machine was broken, the regular mail drops were closed, and it's a very run down disorganized location with packing supplies haphazardly laying around. But the most trouble thing was one of the people working there was serving customers without a mask on whole leaning around the plexiglass (despite the current mandate), the other was coughing and even said they'd been coughing for four days. If I could give it a zero I would. I walked 25mins to this place to drop off a package and it's not supposed to close for another 40mins and doors are locked. Online it says it's open, lights are even on. I called the number that's on the door, it's not even a working number. With the holiday weekend the sign on the door says will be closed may 30th, but today is the 27th. Wish I could go elsewhere but all of them are like this. read more

Worst post office ever. Want to ship a package from there? Good luck. Their Internet is always down or they will only except cash / drop offs. They choose when they want to open so never trust their open hours. The Post office is generally fine they just close before 5:30 so dont go after then! It says 6:30 online, they should probably change it.
