OK experience here. I had a return shipment box to drop off and decided to go on boxing day, appropriately enough. Since I already had the pre-paid return label on the box, I was all set to drop it off at the UPS store, as the location I frequent also serves as a USPS pickup point (letters and boxes that are already labeled). When I walked by, I noticed this store was closed, but remembered that there is a post office in Streeterville (filed away from my earlier poke bowl expedition). Other than the fact that there were clipboard operatives outside from the Nature Conservancy, and being chided inside by the worker behind the counter when I was apparently not standing in the right spot, despite no one being ahead of me in line, I got through the experience unscathed. Given some of the security concerns around the blue letter boxes, it's good to know that there is lobby letter box for secured drop-offs. It also saved me a trip from going to the big post office downtown, a definite plus. read more

Terrible customer service. I came in today to drop off a package . The employee at the front desk had a disgusting attitude. She let another customer come back in line and cut me, then proceeded to catch an attitude and was ready to engage in an argument. I didn't feed into her disgruntled nasty tone, so I just carried on about my way. I don't understand how some employees could be so rude and take it out on innocent customers just going about their buisness. I hope management reads this reviews and addresses this issue, it's obvious looking at all these similar reviews that nothing has been addressed. Terrible ! read more

The staff at this location have consistently demonstrated unprofessional behavior, often speaking in a condescending manner. It's important to recognize that mailing packages is not second nature to everyone, and some customers may require clear, patient explanations. That should never be met with disrespect. While I've encountered varying levels of courtesy at other USPS locations, my experience here has been notably the most unpleasant. Both Maps & the USPS website say this location closes at 6pm today. I got here at 4:50 and it was CLOSED closed. Dark, locked up, been closed for a while. 4 other people came because they thought it was open. No hours on the door. I think they peace out early when they don't feel like working. Clean place where the employees are happy to be there. Probably the first time I've seen a USPS employee that was happy and not moving slow as molasses. They promptly stopped what they were doing, made sure I was taken care of and got me out of the door within a few minutes! read more

My husband and I love this post office. Weird to say? The dynamic duo staff (man and woman) are phenomenal. They are knowledgeable, extremely efficient, and kind to everyone. Truly putting customer service first. Plus, the shelves are always stocked and the areas are kept neat and clean. Sometimes the lines are longer, but it is simply due to staffing shortage as opposed to great workers. The neighborhood appreciates this team very much. read more

You know, most people hate going to the post office. I guess I don't really look forward to it myself. This post office location east of Michigan Avenue in the Streeterville neighborhood is on the small side. I like that. This place has a ton of floor to ceiling windows, however, it's still pretty dreary. Drab lighting. Scuffed up floors. Shipping boxes in disarray. Pretty much a regular post office. There is a guy working at this location that is super nice. He's a bit of a Chatty Cathy, which is so unexpected. Maybe the line might move faster without all the conversation. He always apologizes for the wait and is always pleasant. I love a friendly post office worker! This location always seems to have just one worker at the desk at a time. With COVID, I know the situation is very difficult for them. But add the holiday traffic in the post office, I would hope he wouldn't have to spend his shift solo. I'm sure all of our eyes staring him down can't feel very good. But he sure is making the best of the situation! If you want to avoid the large post office on Dearborn Street, you might want to give this location a try! read more

THE 30-min WAIT was the only flaw, but I don't think it's unusual in a post office especially with only ONE clerk on duty, and NO self-service kiosk. 5-star SERVICE from the CLERK who multi-task, gave each Customer all the necessary and relevant attention and info. If I could give them zero stars I would. Employees don't open the store during store hours so who knows what the hours really are. Some of the employees give out tape to use, others say you have to buy it. I literally walked there the other day and the lady that works there walks in at 9 but says they are closed and that's she's just going to clock in and that actually they will be open around 10 (hours state 8:30 opening). Is this a joke? When I came back at lunch the gentleman then tells me that they open at 9 but when he works there he tries to be there by 8:30. Are there no hours when employees have to be there by and open by store hours as listed? read more

I go to this post office because it's right up the street and convenient but if there was another one another 10 min away, I would prob go there!! Usually it's only theresa and one other person working and it's always so slow, especially during the lunch hour... astronomical lines. Never go to Theresa if you need a money order, she has successfully messed up 3 of mine and always blames the machine.. no theresa you just are not able to do them correctly... It is literally worse than the DMV. The line hasn't moved in ten minutes, which happens frequently. They're a prime example of why I would never bail out the USPS as a taxpayer, and I had to leave without mailing my package because my wait extended another 10minutes, and I had to go back to work. read more

This is a horrible place. Dwayne was incredibly and inconceivably rude. He wanted me to go through the ropes to get to the counter even though there was no one in line. I don't mind doing that and did do it, but right as I walked in he started yelling and repeating himself which made me very confused and off-put. I've been to this location in the past and every time the staff is slow, rude, and the vibe is hostile. The employees hate their job and the customers. I recommend avoiding this place unless you are looking to have a stranger be aggressive and go out of their way to be rude to you. read more

I would avoid this post office location at all costs if you need to get something weighed and shipped/mailed out. I waited 30 minutes in line... 30 minutes of my life I will never get back. This place does not even deserve 1 star. The staff is on a power trip. I walked in to drop a ready to go package on the counter with my small dog and was asked to leave her outside. I won't leave my dog outside unattended. I proceeded to leave my package on the counter and the attendant(Jan maybe, black with long hair) tried to stop me and said "that will sit there until next week"! What? So unprofessional. I avoid this place whenever possible. They seem miserable and hate their job. I'm sure there are well qualified people that would gladly take this job. read more

After reading all the bad reviews, my expectations were low before my visit to this post office. I am delighted to report that I had a very positive experience. The door was unlocked promptly at 9 AM and Jamila, who was working at the counter was pleasant, efficient, helpful and professional. I was finished with my transaction in 2 minutes! Perhaps the USPS has taken the negative comments to heart and hired a new staff at this location. read more

Update review I really have a dislike for this post office. I recently sent a book through media mail without added insurance as I have shipped multiple books in the past and never had any missing mail. I get a message from the buyer saying all they received was the empty envelope. I never had a problem before and this is ridiculous how the book magically disappeared before arriving to the buyer. I am out 30+ dollars. I am going to have to think about buying insurance from now on when I ship my books. read more

AVOID!!!! This was the most stressful USPS experience I have ever had. The employee yelled at me, mocked me, and humiliated me. She treated me horribly. All I wanted to do was mail a package. I just needed help and didn't understand her instructions. This was such an awful experience that I would never come to this location again. I came on Yelp to see if anyone else had been treated similarly at this location and it looks like this sort of abuse has been happening to customers here for years. If I could give this place no stars I would. I was just in there treated so rudely by the two inept employees working at the US post office. They saw me struggling with a 17-month-old child and two packages and continued to send me back to get more labels,forms and boxes. I asked for assistance and was looking to pay for such assistance I was treated rudely so I picked up my belongings and I told the man, that I would go elsewhere and named the UPS store down the street. They had the nerve to tell me to take my business wherever the heck i wanted. Is this the way our government employees are taught to treat customers? Have they not been told that the US Post Office is struggling in sales and looking to close more and more post office is? They not know that their jobs are close to being made obsolete in lieu of automation? My goodness I'm so disappointed as this was one of the locations that I always found to be helpful, friendly and polite. As I told the employees in the E. I am not giving a star..not even a sniff of one. I've been in this place a few times. I am a legally deaf individual and feel uneasy to even walk into the place. These people should be ashamed of themselves. Whoever hired this staff clearly must suffer from a more severe hearing loss than I do. I will never be back there. I was there yesterday 11/18/19 around 2:30PM. I was hoping to have missed the lunch time rush, but nope - line was all the way to the door, as usual. Well, it may very well have been what was left of the lunch rush because, again as usual, there was only one person working the counter. A week before Christmas, and there's ONE person working the counter.... Oh there was another employee there that could have been operating one of the other two counters, but she only popped out occasionally to rustle through items and then every now and then offer to sell stamps to those that had cash. This was a nice gesture in theory, but Worker 2 still had to enlist the help of Worker 1 to complete the stamp transactions. This caused W1 to have to pause what she was doing with her current customer to help someone that, because of W2, essentially had just cut in line. Those who'd been waiting were not pleased. The staff is usually pretty friendly (except the kinda rude dude that wears his postal badge and acts like he's the CEO of the world) but I wish they worked with a greater sense of urgency. Most people I know work during the day so trips to the post office mean we're missing lunches and breaks - do better to get us in and out. I would actually maybe give this location another star because, again, overall the employees are decent but I'm hoping the one star will grab the attention of whomever manages this joint so they can review their staffing practices. Maybe they realize the USPS is becoming obsolete but the current service is doing nothing to counter that. read more
