There's just about everything you need here in Blackstone... a post office, pharmacy, grocery store, a couple of clothing/department stores not far away, gas stations, several banks, a few restaurants and of the ubiquitous Dollar General! Main Street is lined with old street lamps and many stores and businesses on either side of the few blocks it occupies. You'll find the big Blackstone Antique Mall on the corner! There are some historic landmarks here as well as some beautiful Victorian and Georgian style homes. I love the architectural design of many of the buildings in the area. Nearby is Fort Pickett, a military training facility that also host events in the Officers Club, such as weddings, receptions, business meetings and more. Don't just pass through... stop and take in the sites of this friendly, country, off the beaten path tiny town!

While her coworkers gossiped about not wanting to work overtime & their schedules, she was the only one who offered to help me. There were 2 customers in the lobby at the time while all of this loud venting was going on. Amy was the only one being professional at the time. I was able to get in and out in no time. I have no doubts that my package will be received timely. I recommend this location if you're in a pinch & need something mailed quickly. Social distancing was suggested & masks are required. The post office was tidy and clean for the most part.

Also, as with most USPS locations, the facility is beyond outdated. Also, I witnessed employees physically reaching over the counter and selecting the Top rating when the screen is prompted to customers. Even after being refused a refund, I asked to speak with the lead employee, and that never happened. Avoid this specific location at ALL costs, as it is a trash location, and blatantly robbed me.

But the lovely architect comes to a halt once you arrive at the Amelia Courthouse post office. This very generic, rectangular brick building really has little charm, which is a shame considering ma y of the other appealing buildings. If you look up at the door entrance, you'll find it rusted and grungy, in dire need of a paint job! This post office is quite drab inside, old and dreary interior with shabby linoleum flooring and unflattering fluorescent lighting. The antique brass post boxes are cool though! But, all in all, this place definitely needs an update and could use some TLC. As far as service, these small country post offices are friendly and accommodating! There are seldom long lines and the have Saturday hours from 10am-12pm. Sending packages, snagging a greeting card, purchasing stamps, getting money orders are pretty easy breezy! But no passport services or self serve kiosks. All in all, a pretty average postal service, although the building and cleanliness substandard. Amelia should deliver more.

I've been using this post office for many years. There is a convenient self serve kiosk in the…read morelobby that you can access after hours. The staff has been helpful on many occasions. A few years ago I had a package sent that the sender forgot to include my apt number on. My regular mailman had the day off and I just happened to be grabbing the mail and saw that the package was not delivered. We tracked it and saw it was being sent back the the sender, so we rushed to the post office. The person behind the counter got the tracking info from us and decided to check for it and found it right away. Another time recently my mailman saw me near the mailbox and gave me a shout because he had a package that was too big for my mailbox and would've had to be picked up from the post office otherwise. This location does get really busy, there are a lot of apartments nearby in walking distance. Sometimes they are understaffed, but that is the case almost everywhere. Everyone I have worked with here has been professional.
