The population of Ivy VA is about 750 people, and they are fortunate to have such a unique post office in their town! The service is impressive and the folks here are friendly!! This small, bright cottage-like white post office is trimmed in black with its prominent portico leading into the main office. It is full of charm, lined with well manicured greenery on either side of the building. Inside is tidy and displays a big bulletin board with local information and advertising. The postmaster was cordial and welcoming. This kind of post office suits me to the letter! Across the street is a cool antique shop that's a must see! Hours: M-F 9:00-1:30, 2:30-4:00, Saturday 8:00-10:30. No passport service.

It is now Feb 9 and all 4 pieces are sitting in a USPS "transfer point" undelivered. That's more than $40 paid the USPS wasted. Granted there was a major snow storm in this area on Jan 24 (9 days after I mailed the 4 pieces), but roads (and runways) have been cleared for days. I was warned about government inefficiencies in this part of VA before I moved here. Now I've experienced it first hand. The question I ask is, why do people here put up with it?

Lines can get long and, likely, the two remaining staff will become worn out. Another sad fail from the Charlottesville post office management. Ironic it's at the same time postage stamp rates increased to $.66. Is it any wonder the post office has trouble keeping staff.

They have plenty of rental boxes available along with many packaging, card, and delivery options. The service is quick and efficient. It's a rather large facility and it was busy, but the lines were organized by a queue that moved fast. It was beautifully maintained out front, although we did see some "loitering" by the steps. It was clean and tidy on the inside, which was a bright sunny spacious lobby. There was a big greeting card kiosk and plenty of mailing & shipping supplies offered. Also, there a lots of P.O. Boxes available inside. The downside is the parking as you need to park on the street or in the nearby parking deck. The lobby is understandably only open during business hours due to the many people wandering around the mall area to keep it safe and avoid folks "squatting" inside. The flowers are donated…read moreand maintained by the Keswick Garden Club which has been instrumental in the beautification of many places in this small community. The Garden Club was established in 1958 and is active in the Charlottesville area. That's indeed flower power! Keswick is cute little "town" that is home to a lovely winery and vineyard nestled in the mountains a few miles east of Charlottesville. It's mainly a residential and farmland area with no town square or downtown district, although there are some large estates and clubs in Keswick. The post office is really the center of town, and is at the curve of the main road where a historical marker is situated. It has a small population of about 320 people but the post office delivers to several other small towns not big enough to have their own post office. This post office is eye-catching with its beige exterior highlighted with black trim, black shutters, and even a hint of black Spanish tiles. Inside, there are wood-like floors, lots of light, and it's neat as a pin. Love this post office! Hours M-F 9:00-12:00, 1:00-5:00 Closed Saturday
