The Garden Club was established in 1958 and is active in the Charlottesville area. That's indeed flower power! Keswick is cute little "town" that is home to a lovely winery and vineyard nestled in the mountains a few miles east of Charlottesville. It's mainly a residential and farmland area with no town square or downtown district, although there are some large estates and clubs in Keswick. The post office is really the center of town, and is at the curve of the main road where a historical marker is situated. It has a small population of about 320 people but the post office delivers to several other small towns not big enough to have their own post office. This post office is eye-catching with its beige exterior highlighted with black trim, black shutters, and even a hint of black Spanish tiles. Inside, there are wood-like floors, lots of light, and it's neat as a pin. Love this post office! Hours M-F 9:00-12:00, 1:00-5:00 Closed Saturday

It is now Feb 9 and all 4 pieces are sitting in a USPS "transfer point" undelivered. That's more than $40 paid the USPS wasted. Granted there was a major snow storm in this area on Jan 24 (9 days after I mailed the 4 pieces), but roads (and runways) have been cleared for days. I was warned about government inefficiencies in this part of VA before I moved here. Now I've experienced it first hand. The question I ask is, why do people here put up with it?

Kendrick and James should get 10 stars! The Charlottesville post office powers that be just reduced staffing at the Barracks branch from three people to two people. Lines can get long and, likely, the two remaining staff will become worn out. Another sad fail from the Charlottesville post office management. Ironic it's at the same time postage stamp rates increased to $.66. Is it any wonder the post office has trouble keeping staff.

It was clean and tidy on the inside, which was a bright sunny spacious lobby. There was a big greeting card kiosk and plenty of mailing & shipping supplies offered. Also, there a lots of P.O. Boxes available inside. The downside is the parking as you need to park on the street or in the nearby parking deck. The lobby is understandably only open during business hours due to the many people wandering around the mall area to keep it safe and avoid folks "squatting" inside. The mural, painted by Sheffield Kagy , depicts Luray in 1840 with Louis Ramey's blacksmith shop, farmers and horses with houses and the Blue Ridge Mountains in the background. Not only is the massive colonial brick building historic, built in 1938, built it has many unique architectural features. Inside is fabulous! Lots of rich wood paneling with artistic cutouts, brass mailboxes and mail slots, gold lettering at the windows, yet the wood floor has been preserved by adding carpet. No passport service but it is handicap accessible. Hours Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30

This well stocked and organized post office has the mail boxes clearly marked and the signage is impressive. The exterior is warm and welcoming with its brick sidewalk, mauve & gray paint, and planters filled with greenery. These folks take pride in their building, and their customer service! The town is named for Nathan Gordon, owner of a tavern established in 1794. And he was also the first postmaster of the community officially named Gordonsville in 1813. The town grew due to the railway expansion and is loaded with historic sites! Along with the post office, Main Street is lined with shops, restaurants, and businesses which adds to the charm of this "must visit" town! The hours are M-F 8:30-4:30 - closed Saturday and Sunday and no passport service.

Since 1840, this small historic government facility has been delivering mail and friendly service to folks near and far! It was pretty well stocked and tidy. I love the simple white building, and the old brass mailboxes inside, however, it certainly could use a coat of paint. Inside the walls were cracked and splotchy. With a bit of TLC, this post office could be 5*****! The hours on the post office website are different from the ones posted on the door.
