The red wood exterior with the fabled roof brings back memories of times past when post offices had character and charm!! The door has a huge bell welcoming visitors and customers! The lobby has lots of mailing and shipping supplies, and a greeting card kiosk! It's super clean with plenty of parking! The population of Ivy VA is about 750 people, and they are fortunate to have such a unique post office in their town! The service is impressive and the folks here are friendly!! Box for several years in nearby Ivy. There is rarely a line at the counter, parking is ideal, and the postmistress and postmaster know me by name. It's a rather large facility and it was busy, but the lines were organized by a queue that moved fast. It was beautifully maintained out front, although we did see some "loitering" by the steps. It was clean and tidy on the inside, which was a bright sunny spacious lobby. There was a big greeting card kiosk and plenty of mailing & shipping supplies offered. Also, there a lots of P.O. Boxes available inside. The downside is the parking as you need to park on the street or in the nearby parking deck. The lobby is understandably only open during business hours due to the many people wandering around the mall area to keep it safe and avoid folks "squatting" inside. But perhaps for that reason, it's inconvenient for people who may need to pick up their mail after hours. Hours M-F 8:30-5:00, closed Saturday

It is now Feb 9 and all 4 pieces are sitting in a USPS "transfer point" undelivered. That's more than $40 paid the USPS wasted. Granted there was a major snow storm in this area on Jan 24 (9 days after I mailed the 4 pieces), but roads (and runways) have been cleared for days. I was warned about government inefficiencies in this part of VA before I moved here. Now I've experienced it first hand. The question I ask is, why do people here put up with it?

Lines can get long and, likely, the two remaining staff will become worn out. Another sad fail from the Charlottesville post office management. Ironic it's at the same time postage stamp rates increased to $.66. Is it any wonder the post office has trouble keeping staff.

I love the vintage wood entrance and counter of the diminutive govt facility. You can cross the lobby in about four steps! The post master, a young lady, was super nice and friendly! I loved this one! It suited me to the letter! Bremo Bluff was established in1636 and Robert E. Lee's family considered this quiet area a haven during the Civil War. The actual bluff is quite a site! There's a stately plantation of the same name here, dubbed by the owners from the ancestral home Braemore in the UK. Now populated with about 700 people, it has a rich history. If you ever come to this are in Fluvanna County, be sure to see the bluff and go to the post office! It needs a lick of paint and some landscaping to make it 5 stars!! The town is old fashioned, with a homey pharmacy up the street, a couple of local red, and a few businesses and home to the military school Fork Union Military Academy. One business was right on time! The $ General came in handy when my phone died and I had to buy a car charger! Thanks Fork Union! Back to the post office, there are some local newsstands outside, inside there's a greeting card kiosk and plenty of mailing and shipping supplies. A big messy bulletin board is covered with local news, business cards, and flyers. The people here are friendly and helpful. The Garden Club was established in 1958 and is active in the Charlottesville area. That's indeed flower power! Keswick is cute little "town" that is home to a lovely winery and vineyard nestled in the mountains a few miles east of Charlottesville. It's mainly a residential and farmland area with no town square or downtown district, although there are some large estates and clubs in Keswick. The post office is really the center of town, and is at the curve of the main road where a historical marker is situated. It has a small population of about 320 people but the post office delivers to several other small towns not big enough to have their own post office. This post office is eye-catching with its beige exterior highlighted with black trim, black shutters, and even a hint of black Spanish tiles. Inside, there are wood-like floors, lots of light, and it's neat as a pin. Love this post office! Hours M-F 9:00-12:00, 1:00-5:00 Closed Saturday

I adore those small post offices nestled in a tiny corner of the world, and this one is high on my list! A neighborhood feel, where we were greeted graciously by everyone in the store! One guy, who was grilling burger and dogs out front, told us to go to the back of the store where the old post office window and boxes were, so we did! Such a rich history in this neck of the woods! The population is 59 and we met half of them in the store and outside on the patio! I'd love to come back here again to visit! Great folks and great little post office!
