You know, my experience here wasn't all that terrible! They were lacking though in the basic supplies you would find at a post office (envelopes, labels, etc) that you can normally use, as well as no pens to be found! Instead of using a nifty USPS Priority label, I ghetto-ed it and had to write on the package with a ballpoint pen I (thankfully) had. But other than that, the line went fairly quickly (there were about 3 workers at the windows!), and the person who helped me was super efficient! I was in and out within 10 or so minutes (with about 8 people ahead of me in line). read more

I stopped by this post office to drop off my ballot by mail, and was actually surprised by the friendliness of the employees here. I am used to interactions with much crankier employees from the post office back at home. When I entered there was someone to help direct people to the right place (i.e. fill out a form, or line up for the counter). Overall a fairly painless process. read more

Anyway, I missed a delivery despite it not needing a signature or person present, rescheduled online, got the redelivery confirmation, and no one stopped by or left a note. I lived at my address since sept 2020. I was getting my mail up to yesterday and today my son saw i notice on the mail to pick up mail at postal location. he went and spoke to the supervisor there and explain that i have a disability and she refuse to give him the mail. i had to take my painful self there where she is telling me that if my ID does not have the address she cannot give me my mail. this is not the first time i have express this to this lady who refuses to give me my name. These people are so incompetent, it hurts. Literally, it is painful. They have the keys to enter the building, yet my items continuously show "Delivery attempted - Notice Left." The funny thing? There's never a notice. NEVER. I don't even know what the USPS notices look like anymore, although I've had about 7 "Notices left" in the past year. This post office is the most negligent, unreliable post office I have dealt with. Unacceptable lack of reliability in the US postal services. Within the last few months two packages sent to me were delivered to the wrong address: one was returned to the sender and one disappeared. All they are saying is that they delivered the package. This post office has the most ghetto unprofessional staff including the supervisor who are extremely horrible at their job. They have poor communication skills along with being extremely vulgar, where did the post office get these unprofessional individuals from? These are the people who represent them? Forget about packages not being attempted delivered, but calling for re-delivered only for those low class ghetto peoples to pickup the phone and hang up like children, then not answer the phone at all. THE WORST. Three times now, this post office has claimed to attempt package delivery, stating they they "couldn't gain access" or that my "business was closed." Um, it's a residence with a front gate that is never locked, and I have actually been home every single time. Just OPEN THE GATE WITH YOUR HAND and ring the damn doorbell. Or toss it in the yard and run away--that would be preferable to the runaround you give me. BTW, you somehow manage to deliver our regular mail every day without any problem, and no other package carrier or delivery person has ever had an issue getting to our door. The best thing yet is that they delivered a delivery confirmation package to me and scanned it as "delivered" I was expecting a package so didn't think anything of it and set it on my table. When I went to open it later I realized it wasn't even meant for my apt building! So I personally walked it over to the next building because I don't trust USPS to get it to the right person if they already gave it incorrectly to me and it has a tracking/delivery confirmation to it. Come on, neither correct address or correct name on the package? Ridiculous. This is probably what has happened to my lost packages and no one bother to return them. Bottom line is when the post office on 28th ave and 21st closed we got screwed. I don't ever remember losing a package in the 4 years before we merged post offices. I don't think the problem is necessarily the initial delivery of a basic package, as they are sorted with the regular mail and therefore inappropriately leave them in the lobby of the building (which is not cool), but it's when the package has a tracking or delivery confirmation (which is supposed to be more secure) actually is more problematic because they don't bother to actually attempt to deliver it, and when it is "returned to the USPS site for redelivery" it then gets lost forever or given to someone else's apt. Most recently I have lost a 4 lb box with xmas gifts in it that was never attempted to be delivered as I have been tracking it online and was home the ENTIRE day. What is more ridiculous is that this was shipped FedEx but they have something stupid called FedEx Smart Post and FedEx drops them off at the post office for delivery. If I wanted a hassle of a missing package I would have ordered it USPS, I paid for FedEx. Two days later I received a missed package slip and rescheduled the delivery which has not arrived. That was last week, guess someone else got my awesome Crate and Barrel plates for entertaining. Previously last year I had lost 2 packages (both with tracking #) and it was never resolved because USPS insisted that if it was rescheduled to be delivered then of course they delivered them. I waited at the post office for an hour and a half while someone was "looking for my package" and it was never found, and told it must be out for delivery then (which it wasn't). Packages never get delivered to my apartment or dropped off with the doormen like they do with Fedex or UPS. When I call this office nobody picks up, call cannot be completed, no options for voice mail - nothing! Complete absolutely incompetence to the entire management and the people that work here. The absolute worst. A clerk named Vernell was yelling at the top of her lungs at me and an older man. At 1 point she approached us waving her hands like she wanted to hit us. If I could give this place zero stars, I would not hesitate as it's certainly earned the distinction. In the era of GPS, it's a wonder how often my packages have been mis-delivered or, better yet, not delivered at all with no follow-up information entered in tracking as to their present location. It seems like the reigning ethos here is to avoid as much work as possible, judging from the hours posted to this Yelp page (open only on Mondays...really?) and their actual hours. I particularly admire their dedication to opening at 10 a.m. on weekdays (closing at 5 p.m., obviously) to avoid pre- and post-workday crowds. They step up their game on Saturday, opening at - le gasp! - 9 a.m., only to close a mere four hours later. These hours wouldn't really be an issue if they did their primary job competently, obviating the need to pay a personal visit. But, alas, package delivery is not their forte. The one area in which this post office achieves excellence is that of providing conservatives with an ironclad real-world argument against federalizing anything. The levels of incompetence here are just staggering. It says a lot that I am choosing to spend part of my evening composing this review knowing full well that it will achieve nothing. I'm giving this Post Office a one star, only because of the postal Carrier the Postal carrier don't knock on the door he just leaves a slip in a mailbox even when you're home.I live on the 1st floor he don't have to get in the elevator or walk up the stairs just down the hall. Worst Post Office ever. Terribly long lines that don't move, unhappy workers, hard to get your packages, they don't believe in re-delivery notices - it's easier to just send your packages back. It's interesting, I can always get my UPS and FedEx deliveries, but USPS packages almost invariably get sent back, and god forbid you have to go wait in an hour or longer line to get the package on a Saturday, you WILL be abused and treated as badly as they can possibly treat you. It's unfair to say all post office workers are bad or all post office workers are good based on the negative or positive experience. I've had several negative shipping experiences however enough to demonstrate that there's a serious problem with the standard of shipping with USPS. The fact that it is so frequent that I'll have something delivered to a location that I know I will be present at and the delivery person does not ring the doorbell does not leave a note but sends notice that they tried to reach me to the company that I ordered my package from. The USPS has become very successful in creating a demand for a delivery service... that delivers or even just picks up a phone. You're only as strong as your weakest link USPS. When that weakest link can't fulfill the basic concept of the job, delivering the mail, then it's time to reassess, it's time to manage, train, or let someone go. I hope the USPS offender reads this, because I'd love to hear why he or she couldn't be bothered to ring my apartment or leave me a note in two days. if you still think that my rating is unfair, I was going to take off a star for each time I got a no note no call. Another horrible experience at this post office. I use the auto machine so I can avoid these people. (Except for a couple weeks back when the doors were locked- even though the auto machine hours said open!!) I just dropped a package down the chute and it got stuck. Meanwhile I heard someone on their phone behind the glass complaining about their job on the phone or to another employee. So I said "excuse me my package is stuck" One employee stands up and stares at me and walks away. Then I hear the phone call again saying "my job is so aggravating they want me to work extra hours etc" So I say again "Excuse me! my package is stuck can you help me?" And RADIO SILENCE. First of all the I have a parcel delivery that I missed and the delivery truck guy left a slip with NO tracking or article #, NO available date when I can pick it up and worse NO attempt for second redelivery. I scheduled a redelivery and I waited all day for the USPS truck guy and NO SHOW! I tried calling the local USPS office in Broadway and all the numbers that the 800-275-8777 (800ASK-USPS) gave me are not working. I hate going to this post office because its location is not convenient for me. USPS especially this Broadway station will not make your life any easier when it comes to package delivery. Everyone in here is angry. Customers, staff, small children, everyone. The only way to survive is to zone out immediately and try to keep your mind in an almost Nyquil-induced stupor. Don't pull out of that fog or you risk becoming immediately irritated. Their lines are long. The signs are ineffective. I can appreciate that they've pulled the pick-ups out of the regular mailing lines, but they've added the money orders to the pick-ups line which is confusing and causes more anger in the building. This place is in dire need of a renovation to add more clarity to the process. Oh and what is UP with those hours??? I know they don't personally make the hours there, but seriously... it probably wouldn't be so hellish if they had hours that allowed the M-F working stiffs to come in after work. I don't write reviews, but I will for this post office because it's absolutely horrible. You'd think that with the post office in so much debt and everyone's jobs in jeopardy that they'd actually work to keep their jobs, but no, they're horrible. I stayed home all day waiting for a package. When nothing arrived, I check my mailbox and sure enough, my mailman left a pink slip without even bothering to ring my doorbell. I finally got in touch with the post office, whose line is busy 99% of the time, and tried to schedule a re-delivery and the worker told me, I quote, "The drivers are horrible. Don't leave the pink slip, come pick it up yourself." First of all this office is like ten blocks from the train station and open 9-5 during the week and until 11 or 1 on Saturdays. What is a normal working person supposed to do?! I've filed reports with USPS and I've had packages returned to the sender after receiving one pink slip and it never been delivered. As much as I hate waiting in line for anything, it isn't as torturous at this post office due to the complimentary entertainment. I've witnessed near riots break out when someone cut the line, I once heard an employee ask a woman if she was the mayor after she announced that only one mail carrier in the neighborhood did their job right, I've heard stories about how the employee helping me ate cookies for lunch and each time I visit, I get to reread a heartfelt love letter about my cell phone usage as I approach the window. I give the workers here credit, I have honestly never been to a more colorful post office. Most importantly, my stuff gets where it's going without a hitch consistently and anytime I've come to this location or called about a mail issue, they were always very helpful. The line is hit or miss. Sometimes, it's to the door, other times, I'm lucky and walk right up to the window. One word of advice, if you're planning on cutting the line, find a different post office....or actually, don't, it will make my wait that much more entertaining! read more

I hate this post office. They delivered a package to me last week which I wasn't home to receive...of course not...I work longer hours than the post office is even open. I call them to have it redelivered and they tell me they can't deliver it if I'm not home...even though it is not a package that requires signature and even though they've done it a million times before...If they can't leave mail at my house when I'm not there...then essentially the USPS doens't deliver to my house because i'm never going to be there when they are delivering. I spoke to the manager...it sounds like they just make up there own delivery policies that have nothing to do with regular protocol. ONCE AGAIN, I had an important package that I needed in a timely manner and paid extra for 1 day shipping. and ONCE AGAIN I stayed home the day of arrival, and ONCE AGAIN the package does not arrive but when I check the tracking status it says that it was "attempted" but not delivered.... Really? REALLY? Ok, well even though that's just a straight up lie, at least I can go pick it up with that pink slip and....oh that's right, ONCE AGAIN they did not leave a slip because THEY NEVER FREAKIN ATTEMPTED SQUAT! So calling customer service to at least track down which post office it's in to pick it up was minor help - they couldn't guarantee where my package is but can reschedule a delivery. This doesn't help though since I needed it today, hence paying extra for 1 day shipping. Did I mention the phone # is always busy and/or ringing forever? I decided to review this place because they really went above and beyond with me. I had a package that was marked as delivered even though I didn't get it. I tried calling but no answer. I went to the post office and presented my claim to a clerk who immediately seemed to be very concerned about my problem. He did all the necessary research and found out it was given to my super. It was a strange reply for me as the super in my building usually leaves all the packages by the mail room. I spoke with the Manager, Anin, who immediately got in contact with the driver and stated the he left it with the super. Since I wasn't able to contact my super at this time, she offered to take my info and give me a follow up call after more investigation was done. When I got home the parcel was waiting for me at my door. It was left by the super after I left him a message. (The package had no apt number so he decided not to leave it outside). (insert sigh of relieve here). I tried calling back the post office several times with no avail. Thinking they will just drop the case I decided to do the same. After all, posts offices are not known to be this diligent or to care. Well... to my surprise the post man came to my building to follow up with the super and ensured all was sorted out. He introduced himself and explained to me why he left the parcel with the super. Not too long after that I got a call from Anin, the manager, following up and to make sure everything was fine! All this was within an hour!!!! So, thank you to the clerk, the postman, and Anin for your great customer service. I won't dread going to this post office again. read more

Oh my GOD! Where did the pride in being a U.S. Postal worker GO! Through rain, sleet or snow? OMG I just moved to Astoria last year! And what has happened, THREE of my rent checks lost, Multitudes of Christmas Cards...A Pay check lost and TODAY final straw, my mailbox is filled with mail for someone that lives around the corner! AND a box that was supposed to be delivered no one can find at the Post Office! This is insanity and this is just ME I imagine the entire community is going crazy. I think they are throwing out or mail. No one seems to care at all. I hope they are investigated and get new staff. I've always had such pride in the US mail it was always the best in the world. The worst, worst, worst PO ever. Every bad review I have read here I agree with. But it comes from the management there. I think they set the tone. Some of the window people are kind and some are rude. I think most problems there have to do with delivery and not enough windows open after reading the reviews, and that has been my problem too. I tried to work out a situation with the postmaster there. our packages were being left in the lobby for all passing to see and someone sneaked in and robbed the building of said packages. We have cameras and a pic of the guy who stole them. I asked the postmaster if the deliveries could be left at each individual door as it used to be done, or with the super, or work out something so that the packages aren't visible through glass windows and right near front door. Needless to say, postmaster was so unbelievably rude and so NOT helpful. BTW you def cannot reach this post office by phone, don't even try. ALWAYS busy. If you have any specific problems, you can complain to the USPS 800 number. You will have to wait while customer service picks up the national line, but it is worth it, just to complain about bad service. The national number will open a case, give you a case number and contact the post office in question. What's with the 'beloved customers" notice? Really, we are "beloved"??? Went in here for the first time and had an excellent experience. The gentleman behind the screen displayed a personality that is rare to see. The dude was actually very patient-sounding. I know that many people will only rate a post office when it comes to complaining. So I'll do the right thing and give them credit. My mail and packages get delivered to the wrong address ALL THE TIME. And I keep finding packages for other addresses at my door. I've spent so much time trying to follow up on all my lost packages, that I now just have everything light sent to my office. It's impossible to get anyone to answer the phone to make a complaint. The line on a Saturday is out the door. They don't have a stamp machine at this location, so if you need stamps, you need to wait 20 minutes on line. I could go on and on. read more

US Post Office on Crescent Street - Astoria - 11106 The mail in zip code 11106 is very delayed....everyday there is a different carrier there is never a set time the mail comes everyday after 3PM...I went to the post office and they do not do nothing about this on Crescent Street. The carrier I see is a young man and I asked him when will he get to my building and he has a major attitude disposition...and he was spiteful and took his time walking up the block with his shorts on like he going to the beach or looking for a break..they do not take anything serious at this post office and they open at 10AM during the week in the morning this is Astoria next to Manhattan this post office should open earlier and have carriers that are more serious about their job and getting the job done on a more timely manner and not strolling like they are always looking for a break or they are just OUT-TO-LUNCH ...I hope the supervisor of this post office takes this more serious and reads this because these people are zoned out at this post office...and do not take their job SERIOUS. read more
