I use this Staples to return Amazon items. They are quick and unlike UPS franchises, they don't charge for a piece of tape ! If you need school supplies , the supplies here are usually a last longer and are not so cheaply made. They sell gift cards too - great if you need to grab one on the way to a party. Following Amazon directions, I went to return the carpet I purchased, put in a manufacturer original box- Staples is supposed to pack and return Amazon items for free. The girl behind the desk took a look at my package and told me at first "they don't do it no more"; when I asked for an explanation and showed the Amazon instructions with this specific location, I was told "they don't have big boxes". For my suggestion that maybe they can use the original box I provided, since I came from far and the package is heavy,I was told again "they don't do it, can't do it, but I can talk to the manager". I agreed. Asked for a manager- who came, asked me what I needed, and when I explained, she said to the staff member (the girl behind the desk) : " What is the problem then?". The staff told her they don't have boxes. I asked them to show me their biggest box, and the manager reached to the nearest shelf and pulled a box that fit the carpet with NO PROBLEM. She smiled and left, the staff member scanned my code, printed the labels, handed my proof to me with the RUDE: "Bye!"Next!". No apologies, thank you or eye contact. Just attitude and dismissiveness. Lack of willing to help, understanding or trying to find the solution. Or just simple kindness . Did not catch the name of the girl who was by the desk but hope life will give her opportunities to learn how to respect others , and work hard-or at least do what she is paid for. I understand all that she may have felt (or am I delusional thinking she could have been embarrassed?) still, minimum of professionalism would be required here. Staples shouldn't label themselves as a full ship center if you can't use a QR code. You HAVE to have a pre-paid label already printed for them to take the package, so basically it's just a drop off point not an actual ship center. It says online that you're able to use a QR code, so I lugged a bunch of packages over just for them to tell me I'm not able to. read more

Protip for management: Suggest to staff that they wait until customers are out of earshot before badmouthing them. Today (April 22nd, 2022) I went to pick up some last-minute wedding prints that I used Staples' Simple Print Same Day Service for--this included two 24"x36" posters and some A4 prints. Relatively common stuff--nothing too complex. Print Quality was great-- five stars for print quality! But when I showed up the following occurred 1) I witnessed one of my prints being pulled and the two staff laughing about something that had happened. I became anxious, but whatever, right? I see the print, I'm happy. 2) I get called to the counter and tell them that I'm here to pick up the prints--one of which was the large 24"x36" they'd been laughing about. It quickly becomes apparent they had lost the second 24"x36" before I arrived, which I assume is why they were laughing. It probably means they gave someone else my print, which means someone else now has a large printout of my seating chart instead of what they actually ordered, but again, whatever-- they can just reprint it. 3) As I'm waiting, I hear the staff continue talking loudly--presumably because of the mask, and specifically hear the bleached lemon-lime haired staff operating the center console say "Whatever, I don't give a sh*t about your wedding" to the other staff. I remember being young and angry. I remember having retail jobs and not liking them. But even then, I didn't openly badmouth customers--DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE CUSTOMERS. Like, we can hear you. This Staples is situated on its property in such a bizarre way. It faces the neighboring building and is in the middle of a block resulting in it being easily passed over. It's the kind of place you see and you remember "there's a Staples near by", but can't quite remember where it is. That's beside the point though, it is only a block from the Astoria Blvd subway station and for office supplies and equipment is rather convenient. However I purchased a paper shredder here that died immediately upon plugging it in, which meant I had to lug that thing back to the store for an exchange. Albeit a little cumbersome for someone without a vehicle, they were speedy and fast with exchanging my item. Service was strangely nice and unexpected compared to some of the other Staples I've been to. read more

Im usually very happy about this location, but I can't understand for the life of me why they aren't more organized. For one, they aren't scarce on employees but there isn't any directions and lines accumulate from all sides with no direction. You have employees but it's slow motion. I come for copies mostly and the wait is tremendous. I forgot my credit card and because I can't purchase a card to make copies I have to wait longer than usual and I get the answer of a few more minutes to wait sorry I have to take this person. Everyone else is taken before my service is finished. Shame on you! read more

My goodness do I love staples. All those beautiful new office supplies, fresh notebooks, desk organizers- even the smell is one of hopes and dreams of a more organized professional life. If you can't already tell, I'm a bit of a frequent flyer here. It's really too bad that this is the one closest to me so I'm frequently frustrated by it. It's all fine and dandy as you peruse the aisles and pick out wayyyy too many office supplies you don't need, but the second you need to interact with an actual person- yikes! I love this Staples for many reasons, one of them is the huge parking lot, lol. Separate and aside from that, the employees here are genuinely so nice and helpful. I must have been asked if I needed help a minimum of three times while I was there with my mother while looking for some back to school notebooks for my nieces. The store is clean, organized, well ventilated, and it's just one of the best Staples I've been to- hands down. To make matters better, the saleswoman who checked my items out today, I believe her name was Daisy, was so kind, and helpful. Beware: they do not honor corporate return policy which is: "If you no longer have your receipt and we cannot locate your transaction information, your return is eligible only for an in-store credit for the lowest selling price within the previous 30 days in our U.S. stores. A valid government identification is required for all returns made without a receipt." I was returning a gift but they told me that I had to have the gift giver's credit card or ID. First of all, why would I have anyone's credit card or ID? Secondly, I don't want the gift giver to know I was returning it. All I wanted was store credit to use in their store, I wasn't asking for cash back or anything unreasonable. Thank you for your terrible service. read more

This location is excellent for a number of reason's. The first is that it is located near the R train, and the second is that it is located near a highway exit. If you want to print images from the internet, this is the location to use. All Staples stores have rental PC's, and high grade printers. This location load's their high grade printer with high grade paper. The cost to rent a PC is 30 cents per minute, and the cost to print is 59 cents for B&W, or 99 cents for Color. If you need to access a "sensitive" site you may do so via a Google search. I cannot say that all sites are accessible, but I have had good luck thus far. read more

Once again I will ride the Subway in visual and hearing isolation; you don't exist. "Hello, I'm Javier M, I'm here to see Mike about a Sony walkman..." "Hold, let me go get him..." -she says. I look around at this Staples and it is just as big as the one I had visited yesterday. However, this Staples didn't have the huge racks I saw on the other one, meaning there might be less of the bulky items in display. Everything else seems in order; big numbing aisles, red clad staff going to and fro, and a myriad of office/home supplies to stock your life and being a healthy capitalist. "Here sir..." -she says interrupting my analysis. Immediately I feel an artery bursting. Lo and Behold she has in her hand the same iPod like mp3 abomination that I was offered at Staples 34th St. Pout. Lock and Load: "No, no, no.... I want a U-S-B- feature on my MP3 player; I already explained this yesterday, and I was told you had a model for me waiting and...." - I finish my complain with the best composure that I can muster. She calls Mike in, he seem like a very nice guy and is aware of my problem, so I explain the situation once again. He looks at me apologetically, and says: "We had the USB walkman here yesterday, but one of my orderlies, unfortunately sent it by mistake this morning with another cargo... but relax, we can get it in back tomorrow" "Are you SURE it is an exact replica of this - I pull my horrible white walkman from my backpack - but in black?" "Yes" "Fine. I'll come back tomorrow after work" 20 minutes later; Raucous. Boisterous. TMI 24 hours later, the mechanical doors at Staples once again whirled to suffer my passing. "Hi" -I say to the attendant from yesterday, she recognizes me and so I ask her: "Did it arrive? My Sony walkman?" "I dunno" -she says, while calling Mike on the intercom. Then she says: "I think some U-boats came in this morning" Come again? "Uh, did you just said U-Boat?, what's that?" -I ask. "That's our daily dispatcher, we call it U-Boat" - she says obviously not knowing what I know. "Well, just be careful when you mention that word in front of any of your senior citizens, you hear?" - I say smiling. Suddenly I see Mike approaching and I immediately detect something wrong in his eyes. They didn't have my black Sony. "I'm sorry, we do seem to have one in stock, and I had it here two days ago; they will bring it to the store but I'm not sure when... please give your cell phone number and I'll let you know" - he said, visibly sorry. I couldn't hide my disappointment, and was about to give up, when Mike decided to make the best a decision a manager could in this situation: "Listen, you can open and use the white mp3 player until we get the other one; someday I'll call you and you can come pick-it up" "You mean I can open this one, peruse it and then when the other one comes, trade it in used?" "Yes" - he says. I walk out of Staples and go home. And so it ends; using this white walk man and roaming the streets with my music, waiting for the day when Staples will call so I can finally have what I want. BE AWARE OF THIS STORE IF YOU CAN. Even their manager don't care the customer service at all. My mom purchased a $25 iTunes gift card here. When we got home we found out the card was not activate, can not be use. She came back to store next day, the cashier told her everything is all set, card is now activate. But when she got home and tried, the card still not working. We called the store and asked to speak to the manager, the one who answered the phone refused to told us his name and showed no patient not willing to help us to solve the problem. This is the Staples that time forgot. It's located in the back of a fenced in parking lot near the entrance to the Triboro, where you could pass it 100 times without noticing. It's not very large but they have the basic items you expect from Staples. I've been here several times, and have yet to not encounter employees badmouthing customers, cursing or being ridiculous. But hey, if you want to buy printer ink that costs more than leprechaun tears, then hooray! Honestly, unless you need more niche items like a cash register or a 19-hole punch, there's few things here that you can't get at one of the bigger drugstores in the area. This Staples is within walking distance from my place. I have come here mostly for personal items, such as computer speakers, cell phone accessories, a wireless router, flash drives, a telephone, and some basic software. This Staples is not as big as others, but the selection of products is pretty good. In addition to the items I mentioned, they also sell paper, filing products, office furniture, and even food and coffee. The prices are usually reasonable. The people who work there are very friendly and knowledgeable. Generally, someone will come up to you and ask you if you need help. Checkout is usually pretty quick, and they will open up an extra register if the lines get too long. There is a small parking lot, so you can get larger items (computers, furniture, etc.) and bring them home. I'm glad that this store is in my area, and I would recommend it to anyone. read more

I actually love this Staples, and have been coming here ever since I realized it was there - which honestly, was quite recent and I've been living in Astoria for the past 3 years. It's not really in the plain sight. Which is great in that it's never crowded! Yay! I appreciate that they do both UPS and USPS here - no more waiting in the soul sucking line at the USPS in Broadway! And there's PARKING! And homeless people haven't accosted me for money (not yet anyway)! And I can just drop off my prepaid packages and walk away! AMAZING! I've also never waited more than 5 min for a cashier here, I've asked for help and gotten it (awesome), and they tend to have most of what I need in a Staples (card stock, packing tape, boxes, etc). They are smaller than an average Staples - I bought out their entire inventory of small packing boxes and they didn't know when they were getting more in, which was a bummer since it's almost Christmas and I needed to get some shipments out. Such a strange location to plop a Staples in Astoria's 'mom and pop' / Astoria Blvd area. That being said, it is a useful thing to have so close. I am within walking distance between two different locations and both are as they should be - clean, organized and well-stocked. This location in particular could, however, use a few more associates during peak hours, though. They tend to back up a line pretty quick when only one cashier is attending to customers concerns and checking others out at the same time. Customers seem pretty content and calm while waiting...maybe they are all entranced by the many, MANY post-it options near the cash wraps. Who doesn't like a little post-it bling now and then? Just for fun check out the super DUPER OVERSIZED post-it notes they offer. They are hilariously large. Kept me occupied for a good 2-3 minutes marveling at the awkward size. read more

Staff is courteous, even when they're overworked and other customers are acting rude. It may seem weird to review an office store but my main reason is to promote their return/exchange policy. Recently my friend had to buy a laptop. After shopping around we found the HP Pavilions at Staples to be solid computers with excellent prices on sale. She got one and after using it for a while decided it was too small for her. It was within the two weeks Staples gives you and she took it back. They didn't ask any questions beyond was there a problem with it? No? Ok, here's your money back. But that wasn't the end, she got another computer, the larger model and after setting it up found a couple inconsistencies that she didn't want to have to deal with. So she took that one back, again no questions asked and got another one of the same model. This time there was something wrong with the hardware and she called HP to try to fix it, well they bricked the thing and she again took it back and again Staples had no problem. One more computer one more little issue (this time with software) one more exchange. Three exchanges, four computers no problems from Staples. Every time she had stellar, prompt service and got what she needed. If you're going to buy tech I'd highly suggest getting it from Staples because heaven forbid something goes wrong with it or you just don't want it anymore they will take it without issue. Definitely a step above the rest when you compare it to places like Best Buy that require every tiniest piece of plastic bag that came with the thing before they take it back. read more

I do a lot of printing for my business and the staff here has rarely let me down. And IF anything has ever gotten screwed up, they have always remedied the situation one way or the other. Because it's smaller if you compare it from out of NYC stores, it's more limited in quantity. The printing center is very efficient and accommodating. The prices are exactly the same as all other staples, and apart from the occasional sales, be ready to pay for what you get. The parking is convenient, but can be very crowded and you may have to wait a few minutes for someone to leave, but you'll get a spot. Going in and out of the parking can be intimidating for novice drivers, as it is on the 31st street subway line. Overall it's a great place to shop. read more
