This staples is actually a good one. I've been there many times for personal and professional projects and I have been satisfied every time. The employees are very nice and very knowledgeable. Because it's smaller if you compare it from out of NYC stores, it's more limited in quantity. The printing center is very efficient and accommodating. The prices are exactly the same as all other staples, and apart from the occasional sales, be ready to pay for what you get. The parking is convenient, but can be very crowded and you may have to wait a few minutes for someone to leave, but you'll get a spot. Going in and out of the parking can be intimidating for novice drivers, as it is on the 31st street subway line. Overall it's a great place to shop. read more

I went in this morning to print two b&w shipping labels. The kid in the print center pulls out a post it note and asks for my phone number. I told him I didn't want to give my number for a 50c purchase and he replies by sucking his teeth and rolling his eyes at me. He takes my usb and starts talking to two other employees, I now have three kids throwing me the side eye. He comes back and tells me with a smirk that my usb doesn't work. I asked if it was because I wouldn't provide a number and he shrugs his shoulders at me. I went straight to FedEx who printed without issue. I won't go back to Staples if this is the kind of petty unprofessional nonsense I have to deal with. read more

I went in here two weeks ago to ship a large package as well as a rebate for an item i purchased. The internet was down but April, Nea, and Tawana were so extremely helpful and patient. I could not believe how calm they were considering they had some customers who were being really difficult. The handled every situation and took their time to work with everyone, making sure the customer was satisfied. After explaining the different options I had in regards to shipping, they helped me set everything up and made sure my items would be sent out ASAP. I returned today and Tawana helped me. Once again, her positive attitude and knowledge was amazing. I will definitely continue to go to this location for all of my shipping and office supply needs. read more

The problem with a marriage between ups and Staples is when they lose your package neither one of them will take responsibility. Each one points at the other says contact them they're responsible not us until you finally give up and realize they're never going to find your package. Then after they lose your package neither will refund the money that you paid to ship the package even though they lost your package so not only did I lose my package and all that it was worth but I lost the money that I paid them to ship my package. The WORST Staples ever. Life must be hard for the cashier named Winnie, she's short, ugly and chubby and her attitude is way bigger than herself. I went in for a single printer cartridge, I handed her the old one so she can get it for me. She gave me the wrong cartridge, (IQ level at this point its close to null, given that all you need to do is look at the number on the cartridge you're holding). I get home, realize the mistake, I returned, wait in line, and when I tell her that it was the wrong product, she proceeds to argue that it wasn't. When she returns with the one I asked for, the price had dropped $20, so I ask her to look for the color one so I can buy both given the drop in price. She says OK and proceeds to ask the people waiting in line to come over to her register. 10 minutes go by, I'm still waiting for her to go get the other cartridge so I ask if she is going to do it, her answer was that there is people in line, keep in mind that there are 5 registers working, so I tell her that it was her fault that I am even there again, she rolls her eyes and continue to ask people to get checked out, another 5 minutes go by, so I ask again why I have to wait for the endless line to finish if I was there before anyone else, and have paid already, her response was that I had to wait no matter what with a ghetto tone in her voice. I went over to explain to the manager the situation, and guess what, he didn't even care, was not apologetic nor even offer to go get the cartridge himself. Well I guess that's what happens when you place a 23 y/o kid in a managerial position. I ended up returning the one cartridge I have bought, drove 7 minutes and went to the Northern Blvd. & Broadway location, which was busier, better organized and better managed. read more

Needed to pickup a specialty kit for production and needed it quickly same day. This was the only store that had and when I got to the store, the manager and staff helped ensure that all the items were there and that it didn't have damage. They were really nice. There was a bit of a line so the manager opened a new register and when a man cut the line the manager kindly told him that he would need to let the elderly woman who was ahead of him in line go first. I have only been to staples twice but both times I've had positive experiences. This last time I went to drop off a UPS package. It is extremely convenient to have a UPS drop off location right around the corner. I like this place, they are pet friendly =D I haven't had an issue with their services and the workers are okay. I wouldn't say they are overly helpful but they get the job done. Everything at staples costs a little more but that is true for any office supply store. The managers are very helpful. They always ask if you need anything else and tell you things that you may not be aware of. For example, when they were giving you a coupon if you checked if your wireless plan was up for renewal. Ordered prints online and they called me immediately to let me know that the machine that they needed for them was broken, but offered to make them in a slightly smaller size, and found out what I needed them for so they could make them perfect since I wasn't really sure what I wanted. Just picked them up, they are exactly right, and they saved me $15 by giving me other options that totally worked just as well rather than sending me to a different location. Every single person I spoke to was SO NICE, and everyone working today (despite it being a beautiful Saturday) seemed so happy and friendly. This Staples center has been a pleasure every single time I have visited to make a purchase. I mostly use the Copy Center for my business and Sasha and Daniela have truly gone above and beyond for me as a customer. This is a great staples for office supplies, but they have a very poor selection of consumer electronics. I have not used the print center, but if you want to buy a computer or monitor, look elsewhere. I ended up purchasing a 23" LCD screen there because I was pressed for time, but I'd definitely look somewhere else in the future. The salespeople were not very helpful and I had to flag one down after 10 minutes of loitering in the aisle where I was clearly intending to buy something. I came in with a very small print and cut job. I brought it in because when I've sent to Staples via the web, the job has gotten lost. It would have taken less than 2 minutes for them to do the 4 simple cuts I needed. Instead they insisted on making me wait an hour and a half for two other big jobs. I've worked with print shops closely in the past. They could have done it and just gave me hard-headed refusals even though I told them I was coming from far away. I will not be back. read more

I've gone here a few times for home office supplies and to get copies made. Customer service is always great and they have fast printing.

Things here cost twice as much as they do as Staples online but they did price match one of my items. A second item wasn't matched because the sku was different. Even though the sign I got it from matched the online item. Another item rang up a higher price than signed and I was told I grabbed the wrong item. I am not an idiot, the sign is clearly wrong. Some employees there are too lazy to do their job. I was there today to buy some loose-leaf paper. I could not find the price tag. So I asked one employee for the price of one packet. And his answer was "one dollar something." He did not bother to check the exact price. Actually the price was $1.99. Also, the price tag may not indicate the price you're going to pay. The price tag for one item I bought says $6.49. But when I checked out, it was $7.49. So I went back to ask about it, and the cashier agreed to refund me one dollar. But he was checking out for another customer at the moment, so I had to wait. Finally, I had to leave as it was not worth it to get one dollar back for waiting so long. I came here to print a few things and scan a few things. I had a USB and it was super easy to connect to a copy machine by myself and print what I needed. They don't have any self use scanners like FedEx does. So I had to wait a long time in line for an employee to take my USB behind the counter and scan onto my USB (please keep in mind I didn't need ANY printing of what I was scanning). It was only 3 pages at the size of 9''x11.8''. Just barely bigger than 8.5x11. He finishes, and says "Ok, I'm going to be nice and charge .25 cents per page but usually the price is $2 per page for that size." WHATT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Was he just lying to make me feel grateful?? It truly does not make sense that it would ever be $2 a page when it's just barely bigger than normal. I wasn't even printing. I didn't need any type of special paper. It wasn't a poster. It wasn't anything crazy. Has anyone used a scanner ever? It's like one extra button to press for a different size. I was truly appalled. Ever since Staples opened several years ago service has gotten better and better. I think as more people began to use this store things in general have improved. Every once in a while someone has a bad hair day, but then so do customers. I've found their staff helpful and friendly. Stock in the store is fine, but rarely have I been inconvenienced. Their copy machines are, as far as my experiences are concerned, fine. Their copy staff is polite and helpful. There are often a number of customers in the copy area, so a bit of patience goes a long way. It's also terrific that UPS picks up at this location. No complaints from me. read more

By far, this is the absolute worst Staples store I've visited !!! I called this store directly to inquire as to whether an item was in stock that I desperately needed for our office (I ordered online and it was sent to our warehouse in NJ), and though per their website it says "online only", I thought I'd just take a chance and call the store to find if there might be a chance they had the item. (Never hurts to check) I spoke with a female employee in the store and I gave her the item number and described the item, I also mentioned that I was just inquiring, even though it says "online only", but I wanted to exercise all my options. She looked up the item number and told me they had the item in stock. I asked if she could hold it for me at Customer Service, as I would be in within the next 15 minutes to pick it up. She asked for my name and she told me that it would be waiting for me at Customer Service. I get to the store and I speak to an employee and I told her that I was there to pick up an item that was being held for me. She did not ask what the item was, she did not ask for my name, but she said that it wasn't there. I ask her how she knew this, when she didn't know what I had come to pick up. I tell her that it was for a fax toner and that I was told that it would be waiting for me at Customer Service. She was unable to find it and I asked if I was able to access their website, thinking they had a kiosk or some other area in which customers could search for items and possibly order online for store delivery. She told me they didn't and I suggested to her they might want to look into that. I found it odd that a store that sells computers, tablets, laptops,etc. would not have any type of internet access or the ability for customers to test them out, but most importantly, if a customer wanted to order online. Needless to say, I was told that the item was not on hold and they did not have it in stock !!! I was furious and I certainly have to say that part of what exacerbated the problem was the fact that the two staff members that I spoke to seemed clueless, uncaring and basically uninterested. I speak to the manager, who came across as very condescending and arrogant, and clearly explain the issue. He asked me where I got the store phone number and asked if maybe I called the 800 number, which is a call center and if I gave her the right item number and that perhaps there was a miscommunication. I tersely explained to him that I am very familiar with online ordering with Staples as the company I work for uses it exclusively I am very familiar with the number that I called and that I am articulate enough to know how to do a product inquiry as I gave her the item number as well as the specific model number of what I needed. I also told him that I realized that per staples.com it states "online only", and I also pointed that out to the person to whom I spoke, but she insisted it was in the store and that I specifically to get it and that I felt their employees could use some training in customer service. A pathetic apology is not going to appease nor will it placate a customer who was given erroneous information. I'd give them negative 5 stars if I could. After my experience, I can truly understand why there were more employees in the store than there were customers shopping !!! read more

while i was in astoria i hade some time to waste and did recall i had to get a few pics laminated and staples do a decent job at along with fair prices . it's empty inside on a friday morning and the parking lot as well so i have the whole place too myself . the basic office supplies , printers , tablets, pens, stuff for school , etc . they also do shipping via ups and usps if you rather not wait on line at the local lovely post office but you will pay more. the folks who work here are very helpful as i asked about recycling used computer equipment . as i was waiting for my laminated stuff i did picked up a few items i most likely not use or give away to family or friends but who cares it's friday and i am spending my time in lovely astoria . read more

I have had numerous negative experiences at other Staples locations in NYC, where it seems like the staff are "doing you a favor" by simply doing their jobs. The service at this location is always friendly, timely, and efficient. I visited on multiple occasions and this staples is by far the worst one i have been too in my life. They have slow service rude employees and a messy store. I have even talked to the manager at the store and i felt like he was trying to make it seem like his store was at least decent but it is not. The worst of it all was they actually stopped me right before i left and assumed that i had stole something, and threatened to call the cops on me. After that whole experience never again they must have felt embarrassed about how awful they looked when they found out i had stolen nothing. read more

Just wondering about my business in Staples, I used them to make copies of my movie script about 10 and it has 15 pages but a week later when I needed to share my script with the actors page 14 was missing. So I checked original and it had all 15 pages. So I thought to myself maybe the copier malfunctioned? Or the guy who is cover in tattoos gets his kicks out of doing sneaky things like removing one page. Well I came to the conclusion to the later. Hi..i adore staples and their CS. However, on Saturday, March 30th, 2013, while i was in Manhattan i visited a Staples searching for a printer. I found what I liked and asked the salesman if all Staples were on the same daily/time schedule; he said yes. So, to make sure, i called the Staples in Astoria, on 31st Street to confirm this; it was confirmed. I asked if the store would be open on Sunday, March 31st, and I was told, yes, it would be. So, 45 minutes ago, I strolled to the store on 31st Street to discover it was closed. No sign mentioning why it was closed either. OK, I thought, probably because it was Easter. But, that's not a national holiday; even on Christmas day there are a few stores open and if they plan on closing they post a sign in advanced. I called the store once I got home and after following the prompts, I chose one of them only to remain on hold for 15 minutes. Never once was there a recording which stated the store would be closed today, on the 31st. SHAME ON YOU STAPLES IN ASTORIA, ON 31ST STREET for wasting my time and being inconsiderate. I was recently at this staple trying to buy a laptop and was told that they had it over the phone, so I went down to the store to purchase it. When I got to the store I ask the sales person what I wanted and the first thing he told me was that I need an extended warranty with the laptop and I told him that I wasn't interested. He then told me that he will be right back so I'm walking around the store and he comes up to me and says that they no longer have the laptop instock but that he could check another store to see if they have it. He then check in the computer and told me that the staples on 21st has it, so I decided to go to the staples on 21 street and purchase the laptop. When I got there I told them what I wanted and explain to them that I was sent from the astoria store because they had no more. The manager was very polite and got me the laptop, but what got me upset was that he told me that the Astoria store shows that they have 3 instock. When he told me that it all made sense to me why they didn't sell it to me because I wasn't spending the extra $300 for the warranty. Staples should really look into this because this is no way to run a business. I personally would avoid going to the staples in Astoria. read more
