Sometimes that's exactly what a dessert needs. The brownie itself was fudgy in the middle, slightly crisp at the edges but still warm enough to soften the ice cream on contact without fully melting it into soup. Service was quick, portion size felt generous for the price, and it's the kind of order that satisfies without putting you in a sugar coma. That said, The Baked Bear's whole concept is built around the custom ice cream sandwich mix-and-match cookies, ice creams, and toppings so going the Bear Bowl route felt like ordering offmenu in spirit. Next visit, I'll build the full sandwich to see what the fuss is about

The staff was also super friendly and made me feel very welcome. I honestly wish they had a location back home because I would be here ALL the time. Definitely a must-try if you're in the area. Even better, the timing of my visit lined up with Salt & Straw's cereal flavor series, meaning that they were scooping one of my favorites, Pots of Gold and Rainbows. I also noticed a few flavors that sounded like local specialties, including coffee tres leches and cheese guava. Since the shop was empty, it took several attempts to catch someone's attention when I was ready to order. Once I was being helped, I sampled a couple of flavors and decided that I couldn't go wrong with a scoop of Pots of Gold and Rainbows in a waffle cone. There wasn't any seating indoors or outdoors, but the shop is located along a shopping promenade, so I took my ice cream to go and enjoyed it on my stroll.

As if the paleta choice isn't tough enough, then you can choose toppings like a white or dark chocolate dip, caramel drizzle, graham cracker crumbs, Oreo, waffle pieces, and torched marshmallow. Each paleta is a work of art, and they usually come out looking picture-perfect. The shop is small with limited space for seating, but there are cute decorations for fun photo opps. Overall the food was great but....service was definitely lacking. When we entered we were the only people there but the employee was on a FaceTime call with 7 or 8 other people. She propped up her phone and they just kept talking in the background. She seemed like she was either having a horrible day or just hated her job. Didn't greet us, couldn't really hear her at all, seemed bothered that we came in at all. She was more interested in getting back to her call than actually helping. So we walked the few blocks north to find Freddo's. Type of cuisine: Argentinian style gelato and fancy desserts, frozen beverages. Sundaes over brownies and cookies are also an option. Ambiance: Cute and clean, the space offers minimal seating (pairs of chairs at three tables), bright lights in the waning sunlight, and so many flavors in displays to view as you savor your own cup/cone. What I ordered: We had four orders in our party, two scoops apiece, each in medium sized cups. One strawberry-creamy strawberry, one Philippine Coconut-Lemon, one double scoop of Philippine Coconut, and one dark chocolate-double chocolate with caramel. What I loved: Each flavor was novel - Oreo dulce de leche! - and bursting with flavor! I especially enjoyed the dark chocolate. Why I loved it: Gelato.
