The old style tables and seating is a hidden going back in time treasure in my eyes. You are tucked away back in time and the scene where you can gaze into your spouses eyes and share a few laughs. I absolutely loved Detroit Breakfast and will be back!…read more First off, I love their menu. I'm a huge seafood brunch guy. While there are many who attempt seafood brunch, few do it well. Even fewer do it well while also being affordable. Detroit Breakfast is in this rare company. They have shrimp, salmon, lobster, catfish, salmon croquettes available and all of it is a great value. Like possibly the best seafood value in all of Detroit (only other option that come close would be HashbrownCafe and they don't have nearly the variety) I had the Shrimp and Grits and loved it. I loved it because the Shrimps were large, cooked well and seasoned well. If you over cook shrimp it destroys the sweetness and texture, and Detroit Breakfast did a great job avoiding this. Most of all though, they made sure the Shrimp had flavor. Shrimp and Grits isn't shrimp cocktail. The shrimp needs to have some seasoning so it can interact with the grits for flavor. Detroit Breakfast understood the assignment and made sure the shrimp were nice and blackened, and it made for one of the better iterations of the dish in the city. Also the grits were buttery and creamy. These were not lumpy grits, thank god. Detroit Breakfast is a spacious sit down restaurant with a good amount of room per table. I appreciated that I was able to get some work done rather easily while I ate. And the service was incredible. My waitress was awesome. Just an extremely pleasant woman who made the morning a lot easier for me with her attentiveness. If you go east of Mt. Elliot (besides Hamtrammack) there is a shortage of sit down restaurants, and I'm so happy Detroit Breakfast is around. Check it out!

This is definitely a better option than the Grandy's Coney that's about a block down. I love the fact that that they keep the dining area CLEAN, that's usually the problem I have with eating inside a coney in certain neighborhoods. All around good dining!

However, in my opinion each business within this food hall should be reviewed separately since they are individual businesses. Anywho... I like the concept of food halls because oftentimes small businesses would like to operate out of a brick and mortar building, but may not be able to operate independently. The halls are also great for groups of people who having varying tastes. This food hall is close to my home, and offers a variety of eateries. Aside from Borderline Tacos & Things, where I ordered from, I noticed a smoothie/juice bar which I will try soon. Borderline offers sort of a 'have it your way' style menu where you pick your protein - Chicken Steak Shrimp Beef Birria (which I chose), etc. base - Tacos Quesadilla Nachos Birria Ramen or Mexican Pizza and lastly, toppings, which are mainly the usual toppings at most Mexican-style restaurants. They do offer a few unusual choices for the nacho bases, such as hot cheetos, and also for the sides such as Alfredo and boiled eggs. I've never seen these things offered at traditional Mexican-American eateries. They also have a few dessert options, Mexican corn bowls, and soda. My 3 birria tacos, which were accompanied by a cup of a consume style dipping sauce, were about $17 with tax. I definitely enjoyed them. My order was ready with lighting speed. The establishment sits on a corner in a fairly busy area, therefore street parking is available but limited.
