Even if you need a stamp or you need to mail something simple you need to see an attendant. 2) There isn't a bin or a location where you can drop anything bigger than a letter which already has a label or stamp. So, once again you need to stay in line to see an attendant. 3) Regardless of what time of day you go, there's just one attendant on duty and a lot of people show up trying to ship something to NASA because they take forever. So the line takes a long time to move. 4) Parking is a nightmare. I saw someone getting a ticket because he did not feed the meter at 6:50pm (meters work just until 7pm) so you can see there are lots of greedy guards around. Try to do everything you can to avoid visiting this location. Bayonne is still stuck on the 80s and this USPS location is a clear example of that.

But when I finally found the number for the local Jersey city office and called them they were surprisingly helpful unlike many other government agencies. I scheduled an appointment and showed up 15 minutes earlier. There was a line outside and it was 30 degrees that morning so waiting 15 minutes felt like an eternity. Once I got in I got a number and waited around 20 mins until they called me. I was able to get my issue resolved but they should definitely do something about the line outside. I felt bad for all the elderly. Also, they should list the local office number on their website and not a number through which it's impossible to get in touch with a human being.

I still waited for over an hour, and my number was never called. They ended up taking everyone who needed a name change and lined us up in a separate line where we were all jumbled up. It didn't matter if we had an appointment or what our number was. I waited on that line for an additional 20 minutes. When I finally did get to somebody, that process took less than 90 seconds. I really wish these government offices could figure out a way to organize their walk-ins better so that their appointments don't suffer as a result.

Dear Reader, It is…read moreJuly 4th 2016, and the time this occurred is at approximately 5:45 PM to 6:20 PM. We live in a quiet neighborhood on the east midtown side of Bayonne. Somebody rang our doorbell, we weren't sure who it was. It was our neighbor, complaining that we are blocking his alleyway (not a bayonne legal parking but a public area). We questioned him and he quickly insisted that "people move in and that the old timers - people living here for 25 years are not treated well." It had quickly escalated to 1. He called us acting like a** 2. Intimidated us that his brother works in the Bayonne PD as a Detective, and that his brother, told us to F*** off. We called the police and at that point our neighbor told us he can walk off since his brother told him "he will handle the matter internally so there is no report or action." The reason I am notating this is, I think the responding officers acted professionally and understood that the neighbor simply had a vendetta. However, another reason I am writing this is, I am concerned if his brother is truly in the force and did he think it was ok for us to be intimated in his name and is it true he told him to tell us to F*** off. I had asked the responding officers multiple times if I could get an incident report and I was told I have no legal recourse as far as an incident report since there was no altercation and physical harm and the neighbor was well within his speech rights to call us names even if we didn't like it. I am left writing this for posterity reasons to make sure that if we are harassed again, that just like today, the Bayonne PD will treat us well and professionally as they did today, especially since we are being intimidated by the use of a detective's name. We are not accusing anyone that we have not met and the reason we have left out names is we still believe in protecting the privacy and the good name of the individual who was never present in the situation. I visited this location two weeks ago where the lady stated I couldn't ship the package because the label didn't say the date of the day i'm shipping it. I never had that problem before so I drove to my bf's house so he can print the label and drove back where I ran into the USPS driver who took my package with no problem and he didn't even look at the date on the label. Today I was finally able to ship another sale I made on Poshmark on a Thursday but ran into the same annoying issue. My bf's computer broke so he couldn't print the label for me until two days later than due to Memorial Day USPS was closed on Monday so here I am, Tuesday trying to ship my package. When walking in I noticed it was the same lady as last time and knew she would give me a hard time. After waiting 15 minutes she said she can't take my package because it does not say today's date and her name will be on it once she scans it. I nicely explained to her how I don't have a printer, my printing resources are limited and how every other USPS does not give me this issue. She said no again, dismissed me, and took the next customer. I usually ship my packages by my job but since i'm currently working from home i've started to visit the post offices in Bayonne. There has been times where i've shipped packages days after the label date and never had push back so this is new for me. Poshmark gives us 7 to 10 days to ship our packages due to COVID so I wish this lady would lighten up a bit due to the circumstances. I guess i'll be visiting the post office in downtown Bayonne instead for my Poshmark packages.

I called the main SSA number, and was offered several appointments within the next month at various local offices. A 9am in Hoboken was the first available. Always a good idea to get the first appointment if possible, in order to limit wait time. I was seen within about 10 minutes by Ms. Acosta. She was fantastic! Super nice and very helpful. She gathered the information she needed from me, then guided me through filling out the forms. When I made a mistake on one form, she was very patient with me and got me on the right track. Mission was accomplished, and Ms. Acosta made it as pleasant as could be. When I let Ms. Acosta's supervisor know how terrific she was, they both seemed very happy to hear the service was great.

Today (3/16/26) I tried calling the office and I was on hold for a long time and the called dropped so I called again and stayed on hold until thank God someone came to the phone line and helped me. The agent spoke with me patiently and provided the information that I needed. Couldn't resolve anything at that moment but will wait 3 days to check if my direct deposited went through. Not easy to be without a monthly income. Thanks Hoboken Social Secuirty Office. But before I go, I do want to tell you that there is a guard in this office that was very unfriendly and I didn't like that.

She was chatting LOUDLY with a customer about what age they will each get their social security benefits, how their benefit amount is calculated, etc. I have been here many times before & It's always the same thing. The clerk almost seems like she's drunk or otherwise "altered" - her behavior is that inappropriate. I hope that someone in a management position reads this review & does something about this. I believe we DO need a downtown post office, but need more hours & definitely better staffing!
