On a gray and cloudy day with a supposed oncoming snowstorm, we visited Ursel's Web and found an abundance of Spring and Easter. The room was filled with handcrafted symbols of the coming season. The workmanship on all was amazing. Their German Easter Shop Reception was the highlight of our weekend and from the many visitors probably theirs too. I would have given this a five star review except for the incense and scented candles which made it necessary for me to leave early. read more

I have a piece of artwork that may or may not interest you... The piece I am referring to is a Batik painting signed Ursel. Which leads me to the question... Are you the Artist? If, so... Fantastic! There is a interesting backstory of how I came into possession of the Batik painting, here in Tallahassee, Florida. If you happen to be the Artist, I would enjoy sharing the story with you at your convenience. Respectfully, Rick Zeller at zellerman2001@gmail.com read more

I was subletting a place in Middletown and a simple bump on the wall caused a custom-framed print in the hallway to fall on the ground. The glass shattered. And I discovered it was wrongly mounted too (To be specific: The orientation of the hang was totally wrong and it was hanging on the lip of the frame itself. It was bound to fall. So irritating it happened when we were there. Anyway!) I brought it here because I was afraid the fancy frame place on the main street would be frighteningly expensive. This place was perfect: it was unassuming and cozy. Replacing the glass, fixing the earlier orientation, squeezing the frame together again all cost about $30. Having framed a bunch of stuff in Boston a few months before, I was relieved since I was afraid it would be like $50! They did it quickly too, within a few days. read more

I have known Ursel for almost as many years as she has been framing art in Middletown. She has framed several of my counted-cross stitch pieces that have become family treasures. Some of them have won ribbons at the Durham Fair, thanks to her expertise. She and her staff are so helpful and talented . I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Pat F. On behalf of my sister, I would like to add the following review written by her. "I would like to thank Ursel's Web for creating such a wonderful framework with my late husband ,Kurt's fishing flies that he designed and made. It was a Christmas gift from my sister and brother-in-law and very much appreciated. Ursel took special interest in this preservation of something that was so important to Kurt, who was quite interested in fishing and would have been so pleased. Thank you, Ursel, for this special work of art. I highly recommend Ursel's Web Framing Shop." Teri M. read more

The gallery is in a small house near Wesleyan, and has a really cozy feeling. The owner is very welcoming and nice. What an amazing assortment of art pieces there is! There are lots of prints, paintings, sculptures, glass-blown figurines, carvings, etc etc, many of them by local artists. Prices are affordable for gifting or personal use. I am very impressed. I think they also do custom framing.... lol. As in their name. Very nice art gallery/shop. read more

I can't believe I've lived in Middletown over ten years and never been to this wonderful little shop! We only went because some out of town visitors requested a trip. It's such a cool little place, full of German hand-made items, as well as other local art - perfect for unique gifts. The owner is kind and friendly, yet laid back so we didn't feel pressured while shopping. She was working on a big framing order from Wesleyan University, so I assume the custom framing is high quality. I would definitely recommend stopping in. read more
