Walked in while on the way home from the Metro, the large windows from outside the store showcased a large collection of liquors and wine which caught my eye. Upon entering the store you immediately see on your left a good selection of top shelf whiskies. I opted instead for a bottle of red wine, and not being a wine connoisseur I ventured into the the staff recommended section where you can find highly recommended wines for not a eye popping price! While checking out the service/check out was great and I was even able to sign up quickly for their free membership which gives me points on every $ spent that I can use in the future. It is so funny that I just had a run in with this infamous woman that everyone else on Yelp is also complaining about, so at least you can be sure that my review is genuine (take notes, owners). I've been to this establishment several times over the last 2 years, because it's so convenient, but the last few times, I purchased sub-par wines, so I decided to give it one last shot. I went in and asked the older, white, blond lady whether she had a saint emillion grand cru or a barrique-aged wine around $40 price range. She looked shocked and said "90% of wine are made in barrels," so I clarified saying that a barrique is a smaller barrel, and she snapped at me saying, "I know what a barrique is, I'm a certified som, and I do all the buying here." One thing I know for sure: when someone becomes so aggressive and defensive and starts listing out their qualifications when they can't answer something, they are NOT an expert. I asked her why she was talking to me with an attitude, and she goes "because no one comes in here asking such specific questions". Bizarre. Anyway, went to Myrtle Wine and Spirits nearby and walked out with two saint emillion grand crus. Will never go to Uncorked again. Fire this angry lady please! read more

HEALTH WARNING! Hi everyone! I'm an employee of Urban Uncorked.  I'm going to share this information with you because I think this is important.  The manager of this place, Susan Ellis, mentioned several times in a few serious conversations with a lot of employees that she thinks she's infected because she has had the symptoms of coronavirus including cough, headache, and tiredness over the last week and a half.  When asked why she was still at work in a public place, she didn't answer. I consider it serious and criminal to believe you have this virus and go to work in a public place.  I already shared this information with the police and I'm going to call the health department as well.  I wanna tell all our customers to please wear masks and gloves if you go to this store. Thank you! read more

This is my favorite wine and liquor store-- and it has nothing to do with the fact that it's located right across the street from me! Ok fine, maybe a little! Urban Uncorked has a fabulous selection of wines and liquors. Whether you're looking for an expensive bottle or a cheaper one, they'll definitely have something in your range. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. For example, last night I was looking for a bottle of bubbly. I told one of the employees that I was just going to make mimosas, and she suggested a really good cheap bottle instead of trying to sell me on a more expensive one just to make a sale. They also often have wine and liquor tastings, and they offer discounts on what they're promoting. Their prices are about in line with other places in the neighborhood, but the unpretentious atmosphere is what keeps me coming back! read more

I stopped in there last night because I ran out of wine early. :) The staff was extremely helpful! I am not very picky when it comes to red wine, and I like to spend $10-16 for a bottle. She showed me 4 different kinds for $10-$12--I was impressed by her knowledge of the cheaper wines, and I liked how invested she was in helping me find something I would like, even if I wasn't spending a fortune. Sommelier on staff? Whatever. I wanted a casual red to enjoy with a casual meal. The person working there claimed to be a sommelier that could guide me to the perfect choice. She started by offering a wine priced about 25% more than I stated I would spend. When I eventually tried the wine it left a fuzzy taste on my tongue with a strong acidic finish. No thanks. I'll stick with Minibardelivery.com where I do my own research online, a vast selection is provided and the prices for delivery are even better than these. Could this be a new snob consciousness. i was in Brooklyn, NY for business staying at the Dazzler Hotel, a really cool boutique hotel just up the street from Urban Uncorked. While in my Uber, I did a google search for local wine stores and discovered Urban Uncooked. I arrived there and a salesman was very attentive and helped me choose a decent Rose' I thought I would enjoy in my hotel room. All Good, so I thought. And then things turned oddly strange. I reached the counter to pay, pulled out my card and was told Oh, I'm sorry we only accept cards with a chip. What? You're joking, right, I asked. Most places are still struggling with getting the chip thing right and this spot has the audacity to only accept cards with a chip. Well, I happen to not take a full wallet this day, only grabbing an ATM card and my i.d. Needless to say I left without wine, spirit or a warm fuzzy felling. What a turn off and further, what's this about. I'm baffled, disappointed and a bit perturbed. Do not go to this place unless you check for your chip. I reached my hotel and used a delivery service to order a beautiful 2015 Miraval Rose' from Whole Foods (much bigger selection by the way) which they did not carry. This place was a waste of time. So here's the deal, come packing a chipped card or you'll get turned away. Urban Uncorked can remain uncorked and drop the word Urban from its name. Ok assortment of wines in a confused somewhat unkempt space. The staff is friendly 'tho no one approaches you or offers help unless you seek them out. All in all, it's convenient and they do have a great saki selection, but the place kind of looks messy and disorganized. read more

2 out of 3 times I've been charged incorrectly and only after leaving and checking my receipts when I have gotten home have I notice the mistakes. During one instance a few days ago the bottle I bought was labeled for $17 and after paying for it and leaving, when I got home I noticed that I was charged $35. When I went back I encountered a very passive aggressive manager who refused to give me her name and simply said that she's the one that makes the orders. When I politely told her that I should be charged the price it was labelled for she literally laughed and said 'No way!!! it costs us much more than that!" even after her colleague confirmed that this was the 2nd time this had occurred to me, she simply rolled her eyes and kept working on her computer completely ignoring me. She may have saved the store from loosing $15 but ended up loosing a valuable customer. It's sad becasue aside from her the staff is usually very friendly. read more

This place is a bit pricy than other places, but because of the convenience, I go here for last minute purchases. Over the course of time, they've had a wide range of staff. The wine tasting staff are friendly, however the manager or the owner who is an older lady is extremely rude, could careless about customer service, has an attitude every time we go there. Other times it's rather more pleasant when she's not around, her staff behind the registers aren't the best either, but I don't blame them if she's an example. They are however, much better to interact with and be around than she is. I went in to make a big purchase one time, and because of her for the lack of better words - b!tchiness, i walked out replacing everything, because they just lost a customer. Take the extra time to go else where for cheaper and better experience, it's worth it. Never stepping foot again here. read more

This place is awesome! It's definitely not your typical wine and spirits shop with a selection of hundreds of wines and spirits from all over the world and a tasting bar that you can sample their products at most nights of the week. I miss the old store! (I think they are reopening nearby at some point.) I had really hoped this store would be a good replacement but it's just not up to par. It always looks messy and dumpy - there's are often piles of cardboard boxes lying around, the windows are overcrowded with stuff, and the windows have peeling signage and cheap paper covering the area where they had the liquor (the shelving collapsed) and now they use as storage (because of bad store design without storage). I think the original manager left and it seems like the place has gotten worse since then. There's a big selection but it's overwhelming and run of the mill. The old store had affordable stuff that was unusual and well curated. Too bad this store misses the mark because it means I have to walk farther to get good wine. (I also think the owner left a review for his own store, which is pretty cheesy.) read more

I was excited to see a new place opening in the neighborhood. To this point, my experience with wine & liquors stores in the area has been unsatisfying - overpriced on a somewhat limited selection. I have been to Urban Uncorked twice since it opened a couple weeks ago and so far have come away impressed. They seem to have a unique selection of wine and their liquor stock is more than acceptable. The staff has been helpful and friendly. The prices on the items I have purchased have been fair (I would comment more on pricing in general, however, as the store is still quite new, they have yet to put price labels on everything). After my two visits, I see no reason why this could not be my preferred neighborhood liquor store going forward. read more
