I had such a great experience at Urban Roots with Kate Gundlach! I easily made my appointment online through the Vagaro app and Kate made it even easier to book follow-ups with her in person, which I did because she was amazing! She understood my curly hair type as well as understanding that I also like to wear it straight. I have a ton of hair and it's curly, kindly, FRIZZY, thick, la la la. I wanted a short a-line bob which was a challenge to get a nice stack but with layers and she took her time and really gave me such a cute cut! I go back in a couple weeks for color and I have all the confidence in her! The salon itself faces the side of the building but there is a flag sign at the sidewalk. When you enter there coffee and team items as well a cute items to purchase such as clothes, bags, throw pillows, as well as hair products, etc. The chairs were comfortable and the decor was modern. First, Let me start with saying I spoke to BELLA for SEVERAL months before moving forward with ordering my hair extensions. First and foremost, I wanted to be very specific and particular with my color. I had sent her several photos of what I wanted. All basically the same. She gave me a break down of her costs associated with the investment. When the time came and I ordered the hair I wanted she put the order in for HER same hair color, that she was currently in, not what i asked for not what I thought I was paying for Without my consent choosing a color SHE thought was best. Not cool. Not ok. As the time came I saw the colors she picked. I was not happy, but we proceeded with the install as its something I had paid for and waited for. She tied them in and within a week they were falling out. Once the time came for my 1st move up, I SPECIFICALLY asked for a few highlights underneath near my neckline to blend my darker pieces with the blonde extensions & high-lift on my dark roots. Rather than tell me she COULDNT lift me much lighter she proceeded to DARKEN all my roots. REALLY NOT HAPPY at that point because she also darkened the pieces we just bleached. As we walk out she starts negotiating the prices with her co-worker "oh, didn't those go from $50 to $70?? I think they went up ....etc. After telling me she was going to charge me $125 per row ( I have 3) She proceeds to increase the price of everything she did, even charging me for the highlighting she just colored OVER and increased the price of the move up from $125 to $150 without even discussing the price change. and charges me $605. Now I wouldn't have minded the cost had she just been honest and forthcoming with me or even bother to tell me she was going to charge me more. But that was pretty much the last straw. When I got home I messaged her about the dark root and why she darken my roots when that was absolutely the last thing I wanted, and she said she would see what she could do about my roots the following day and to come into the salon, a 25 minute drive from my house . Once I arrived she began to tell me I wasn't a good fit because "she didn't have the formula to lift my roots and she could find me a better salon.." ALL OF WHIC COULD HAVE BEEN DONE OVER THE PHONE. I told her she was going to reimburse me for the dark roots and highlight she colored over because that was not cool, she should have said something to me before ADDING all the dark color. Needless to say, I work in accounting. Clients and Numbers are my daily business. Happy clients just want honesty. Bella is just shiesty. I wouldn't recommend her services. The salon itself seems great. Bella, not so much. read more

I really wanted to love this place. I went in for a haircut; it was supposed to include a shampoo blow dry and style. Jaycnda was nice...but literally just rinsed my hair. I believe she put some product on my hair, but she never washed it, no rubbing, no lather, nothing. She just got it wet. I don't have an issue with the haircut; it came out fine. She did, blow dry part of it but literally I had to finish blow drying it when I got home. As far as the blow out and styling I put my hair in a ponytail when I got in my car because it looked so bad.. I certainly won't be going back. read more

Extremely unhappy is an understatement! I am writing this review solely on my experience with Lauren Mcbride. She was unprofessional and immature. I booked with Lauren over a year in advanced to have her do my hair for my wedding day. About a month before my wedding I reached out and tried to make an appointment for a hair color and cut but no response. I attempted to get in touch with her many times and was still left with out an answer. A week before my wedding we FINALLY got in touch and she blocked and cancelled me as a client saying she never received my messages and didn't know who I was (even though I had sat in her chair multiple times). A WEEK BEFORE MY WEDDING. I was extremely upset and frustrated with how she handled the entire situation. I would not recommend her to any one and hope no one has the same experience I had. Here is a great story!! In June, I went to a hairdresser that cut and colored my hair so wrong that I cried for a month. It was so hideous that it was embarrassing to go out in public. Here it is October and I have to put my trust into another hairdresser because my gray is so grown out, I look like Mrs. Claus. Every day for the last several years I drive by Urban Roots Salon. It is on my way to and from work. (I live a block away) I decided to Google the salon. Liking what I saw, I called and lucky for me...Sarah answered the phone. I explained about my bad experience before and that I needed someone with a lot of experience. She ended up booking an appointment to see her on Frida morning (10/26) Yay! When I got to the salon and met Sarah, I immediately felt welcomed. She made me feel so calm and comfortable. She did an absolute fantastic consultation with me. When she saw how badly my hair was screwed up, she said we needed to do a color correct to get rid of the seven different colors that were in my hair. While she was doing the color correct, her assistant pulled up pictures of women with chocolate brown hair and asked me to choose what I liked. When the color correct was done, you could tell the huge difference. She was able to get rid of most of the crappy color. She mixed up a beautiful chocolate brown and also offered to do my eyebrows to match! Throughout this whole process, Sarah and her assistant were so very sweet. We had great conversations and she treated me like a queen. After my shampoo and rinse, I got back to her station and I couldn't believe it! The color was gorgeous. I now had chocolate brown all over with Carmel hi-lites instead of 7 different colors. Now it was time for my haircut. I explained what I wanted and boy did I get more than I bargained for. She gave me the most beautiful cut. She gave me what I wanted instead of doing what "she" wanted. I walked out of the salon a very happy girl! Thank you so much Sarah for everything you did for me. She was extremely helpful in my color choice and gave me exactly what I was going for. She was even able to get both my sister and I in and out in two hours!
